Do you find yourself mostly playing armies where you need tons of models? Do you love having a table full of little, wimpy models all over the place?

I current play mostly-guant tyranids, imperial guard, tomb kings with lots of plain skeletons and now I'm punishing myself with an all-skink lizardman army. I've considered skaven and goblins, but they're on the someday list. A lot of fellas in my group are into Flames of War now and if I take that plunge I will probably go with soviets. I started a skorne army planning to have an army full of big monsters, and every time I play I keep wishing I had tons of troops.

When I "finish" one army, I always promise myself I'll never do a horde again .. the time it takes to build and paint is too much, maybe it's a pain to transport so many, etc. But I can't help it. I keep coming back for more.

Well, I only have the IG horde army but like yourself I find myself drawn to Tyranid and Skaven...I have yet to bite the bullet on either but the temtation is still there...

I love the horde armies - they actually feel like an army, not a special forces team.

I've got (painted) 400 orks, with another 200 or so unpainted, 100-odd painted foot-slogging sisters, and 250-odd Vostroyans infantry.

I've got Orks, Nids, Guard(X3), and Skaven.

I feel you on the time commitment thing with painting a horde. I've been painting my Vampire Counts for a long time now. The vampires were fun to convert and paint, it's just the 150 ghouls that's a pain in the ass.

If I field my complete Armoured Company at once that would certainly count as a 'Horde Army'.

But as far as actual horde armies go, then Guard and 'Nids.

Lost & The Damned is kinda a half-way point. It can be horde, but it can also be a small/elite army.

I have 100 mutants, 60 plague zombies and 50 traitor guard. Collecting dust for more than one reason. I've been slowly but surely painting up the 80 orks, 20 nobs and 12 deffkoptas that I got from switching off two AoBR sets. I'm starting to think that my next army will be eldar too, with lots of war-walkers, wraithlords and wave serpents. I really don't know how to play quality over quantity, so it should be interesting.

I have about 250 Eldar minis, so I guess maybe they qualify as an elite "horde"?

Anyhow, I play IG / Inq / SoB, and have something close to 200 Guardsmen / Storms / Sisters.

Marines and Chaos Marines are roughly 100 models each, so they can be good-sized forces on the board.

And then I have Empire / Dogs of War for fantasy, so that's another couple hundred minis there as well.

I have an Guard, Nids, Ulthwe Eldar (80+ guardians), and in fantasy I play Skaven LOL

skinks, guard, tomb kings, bugs, orc, ork, red blok, FOW soviet infantry

I have Tyranids, but not because they are a horde army. I just like eating my opponent.

I have successfully painted 17 of my current 126 Gaunts and Hormagaunts. I really need to work on them more...

I only have one horde army, my Epic Imperial Guard army. Plenty of warm bodies there.

Tyranids are my only horde army.

I have Imperial Guard and Orks, and if the IG Codex is good enough when released, i'll probably make a Mordian guard.

you should see my 3500pt list... It has 30 goblin fantatics

I have Savage Orcs, though 2,000 points consists of 74 models, so it's not all that Hordey.

Also Empire, thats very Hordey, at least the way I play it (Knights are for pansies and Bretonnians!)

I guess I quite like the Horde style army. Lots of fun to use!

My ork army for 40K is pretty massive. About 200 basic boys and *thinks* maybe a hundred other various specialists, with a tonne of vehicles, characters and various bits. The only unit I don't have from the codex is Flash Gitz.

My fantasy orc army is smaller but still has 150ish models in it. My beastmen are also in the 150+ range. I also have a bit of an issue with buying everything in the LOTR evil range pathologically.

Out of my play group I am the only one that plays any sort of GEQ or horde armies (Tyranids and Eldar). Everyone else plays Marines, Necrons, etc. I actually enjoy playing armies with huge volumes of Spinegaunts or Eldar Guardians.

I have Guard and Orks, Two hoard lists of both. Its about 400 models all together, but of course its only half painted.

Skorne and Trolls with a healthy sprinkling of minions.

Oh, you mean 'horde' not "Hordes" armies. Ah.

I have IG, Genestealers (WIP) and orks, but none are played as hordey lists: IG have quite a bit of armor, Genestealers are, well, genestealers, and orks are KOS.

Tyranids and more tyranids and then some tyranids... Oh and brit paratroopers for fow

The rest is either warbands or elite armies.

4 battle companies marine, guard, ork, elite army chaos deamons, orc & goblin 4 to 6 thousand pts empire with knights.

Lets see...
Imperial Guard Steel Legion are more elite than horde like since they're all in overpriced chimeras, but there are still 75 guardsmen in those chimeras.
Demonhunters are more elite as well even though I use alot of stormtroopers.
My Ultramarines are rather elite with the 2000 point army using 60 marines
My Tyranids are still back in 4th edition with carnifexes and ripper swarms, but I've got 120 hormagaunts to paint up so it will become horde.
Armored Company is deffinately elite.
My LATD Genestealer Cult were horde with 70 odd mutants and 30 traitor guard. But they're gone now.

Future:
My Tau will be horde with a ton of static firewarriors.
Eldar will be elite as I'm going for wraithguard backed up by dire avengers.
Thousand Sons are hopefully going to be elite since I'll be "true scaling" them.
World Eaters will be a foot slogging horde.
High Elves are going to be elite as thats how the army is built.

Non 40k:
Khador elite as the army is made up of man-o-war.
My Cryx are elite based as I like the jacks less than the dead people.

i have about 7k of IG and about 8k of SoB. i have about 350 guardsmen (plus 40 storm troopers/hardened vets) and about 70 sisters of battle.

i seem to have the pathological need for an entire battalion of guardsmen (im half way there!), 3 of every Imperial vehicle, and a "battle company" of SoB (most of the way there too).

so, i have a GIANT hordy army that is only going to get *much* bigger.

I got Nids that are horde style, I got Orks that are horde style, My Tomb Kings are a horde of skellies

but I also got an Eldar Army thats elite, my CSM that are totally elite, and Tau.
