So..
I beat MGS4 and I want more tactical/espionage/action
But alot of (all?) loose ends story wise have been tied up and you know
Spoiler:
snake shoots himself in the head, and even if he didn't, he's Old Snake and fox die is going to mutate and kill everything!

So where do you think this franchise can go next?
Carry on with a new lead character?
  • Jack/Raiden
  • Johnny Sasaki/Akiba
  • Meril...(a Female lead !!?)
  • New Snake / Clone

  • Or
    Prequails:
Snake on previous missions ala naked snake kinda stuff?

    Panic...

But Snake doesn't shoot himself in the head. Please tell me you didn't just end the game when the credits came up and that you saw the HUGE scene that takes place in the graveyard.

Anyway, the best place for this series to go now is to bed. No Snake games and no Raiden games. A Johnny Saski game could be cool, as they turned him into a hero by the end of the game, but otherwise this series is done. The story is over. Anything else will seem like they're selling out for more money.

Which means they already have 2 sequels planned...

I could not take this game seriously after the trailer with the mooing, defacating metal gears. Also, the storyline of 2 was so terrible that I shudder to think what could have happened later on. The gameplay dudes for this series are top notch, but that Hideo guy, man what a complete lunatic.

Kojima said this would be his last MGS game, if they are going to do anything do what they did with MGS 1 and remake the originals (Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2) and bring em upto date much like its rumoured they are gunna do for FF7,

the MGS storyline has been done and is over, Konami need to focus on something new, they have Pro Evo each year to make sure the money keeps coming in, they need a new series to work on now, no more MGS it will ruin it forever

New teaser at the Konami site. Also, it's too late to ruin Metal Gear. IMO, MGS1 did that.

i can see your point, i however really enjoyed MGS1 it trailed off with every game after that, MGS4 pending as i have yet to play it, i hold high hopes for that game

but no having a new director start churning out Raiden games next, that would be the big kick in the balls

Like a new Zone of Enders game.

Then you're missing out. The Gecko's (as they're called) are a relativley minor part of MGS4. You fight quite a few of them towards the end, but otherwise the plot doesn't revolved around them in the first place. And the third game is excellent. People just dislike the second game because they dislike Raiden.

oo good choice i'd forgotten about that

the third was pretty good i was just dissapointed with a lack of solid snake, i know big boss at that point was basically snake but it just wasn't the same

and with two, I can see what Kojima tried to achieve with having Raiden view snake, however he did make him the really irritating rookie cliche which really wasn't needed at all that's one of the main reasons i see for disliking him, hes almost as bad as Ashlie from Resi 4

I liked raiden, I actually was a bit gutted that I didn't get to play him a bit in MGS4...
I disliked MGS2s limited location... going over the same ground alot kinda thing, i got the impression the spent all the money on development, building a game engine and then forgot to make some levels... and how long did we wait for that to finally get released after the initial announcement?
and the game was short: tanker(brilliant but short) oilRig - haven - done...

    But the series is awesome.
MGS1 was amazing, I played that game so much... I wanted to be the stealthiest-mofo downtown in ninja-town!
    MGS2 and 3 were average...
    MSG4 is the bomb!

But I wish there was more stealth to it
I hated the derbin mechanic for getting weapons... why not just have what you find??? God I hated buying ammo and silencers.. I should have struggled to find those...

Also is there a way to safe the beauties (from the beasts)...
is there more than one ending?
H.B.M.C. are there more levels? I stopped after the graveyard story and the wedding...

    Panic>>>

There is a huge massive scene that takes place in the graveyard after Snake 'shoots' himself.

The credits will come up, listing all the voice cast. Then it goes back to the grave yard, and there's another 1/2 hour cutscene in which HUGE events take place with Snake having a converstaion with a very special someone. Then there's the real credits, and another bit after the credits.

Really if you haven't seen this bit I'll be amazed, as it is huge.

    My opinion?

There are so many huge gaps in the Metal Gear Solid timeline that it would be a shame if they didn't at least make more Metal Gear games (Sans Solid). I personally think it would make a very interesting game to follow the exploits of a younger Ocelot, or possibly Grey Fox (When he's on hiatus from supposedly dying in Zanzibar Land).

I don't see how anyone holds so much dislike for a series such as Metal Gear Solid. It has left it's mark on the industry more than almost any other series. Sub-par? My ass.

Speaking of Konami series that need to get continued, I think they seriously need to re-acquire their license to Silent Hill, sue that damn american company that made Silent Hill 5 for all of the money that they could've possibly made off of it, and put Team Silent back to work (Maybe cause a fake "Hot Coffee" scandal that will remove that sub-standard game from store shelves for good, while you're at it). That's by far Konami's best IP, and they've ruined it completely. For that matter, it's the best IP period. Stop outsourcing!

They could also use a new Castlevania that either doesn't suck or isn't DS exclusive. The last decent Castlevania that wasn't on the DS was the Dracula X Chronicles, and that hardly counts, as it was a 3D remake of what is widely considered to be the greatest Castlevania game ever made (Though I personally hold Symphony of the Night in higher esteem). Come on, Konami. Get your asses to work on a current generation Castlevania with extremely high resolution sprites that has more innovation than simply "Wow! A New Weapon!". Castlevania needs a Symphony of the Night-sized shake up to keep it going right now, and I think an entry on the PS3 and Xbox 360 would make things just about right. Just please keep it 2D, whatever you do.

As for Contra, that's doing just fine. Contra 4 was awesome, even if it wasn't created by Konami. But maybe us hardcore Contra players need something else to keep us going, even if they aren't full-blown sequels.

Personally, the MGS series are the best games out there for the genre. MGS4 seriously cannot be sequelled. they pretty much tied up all the loose ends of the story with this game.

I will miss my epic duels in the office complex with Psycho Mantis
