You might want to exchange bolt of change out for wind of chaos or doombolt. When you give the Aspiring sorcs BoC they have to use the entire squads firing power on the thing they are trying to shoot, most presumably a vehicle. Warptime on the DP would be cool too. could reroll those Wind rolls.

Since you have 9 oblits doombolt of wind of chaos would be much better on your sorcerers. You probably dont have quite enough firepower to deal with hordes at the as it stands before you are overwelmed.
I like it though, pure 1Ksons lists are hard to play with against most good lists. Tell us how it went.

I agree with typeline about bolt of change. I would either swap it our for winds of chaos, or take doombolt instead. If you take doombolt, it will free up enough points to allow your DP to take warptime. re-rolling to wound with winds of chaos will kill losts of stuff.

I also notice you have personal icons listed too. You should drop them for more upgrades to your DP. It'd just be a shame for you to try and DS those Oblits. They do much better walking the entire game, there really won't ever be a turn where they won't have weapons in range.

Personal Icons are "better-to-have-and-not-need-than-need-and-not-have" ... trying to win an objective based mission isn't the easiest thing with a Slow-n-Purposeful army. I've found in the event I may need to to get to strategic points quickly, the Rhinos acting as beacons has come in handy... typically though I just deploy them on the table.
As for Wind of Chaos - I'm just not a huge fan of this Psychic Power in a Thousand Sons unit, mainly because of the short range. If a unit is close enough to a target for the Aspiring Sorcerer to use the power then there is a pretty good chance the unit is within assault range - don't like the idea of having all that firepower locked down in close combat. And speaking of short range, the Inferno Bolters ( rapid fire ) should be able to handle most opponents without the need of a flame template.

Even with the lack of anti-horde power, I'd take Doombolt for the Asp Sorcs. The Thousand Sons should be firing at near max range while wandering about objectives (or if your Rhino gets busted), so Winds is just a waste against most forces. Doombolt lets you stay at that 18" sweet spot.

I disagree that this list has a lack of anti-horde firepower. Those 9 obliterators can put out 9 plasma cannon shots each turn, and 27 rapid firing inferno bolters aren't anything to laugh at. They will chew through a lot of horde models before they make it into CC. Also once your rhinos have deposited your Tsons, any that survive can go and tank shock a unit or two.

Thanx - exactly how the list is supposed to be played... Especially the part about the PC Oblitz: considering the new rule for blast weapons, scattering against hordes is really no big deal... things are going to die.
I may try the list though with the Doombolt ( Aspiring Sorcerers ) suggestion, giving some free points to beef up the Daemon Prince ( Warptime ).

This looks eerily like a Double Lash list, and I am afraid.
You have to be able to keep that Prince safe as he is the only one attracting Lascannons. If he gets close enough for a breaking some wind (pun regretted) he'll earn his point sback in a hurry. Does he have wings though..?

Yep... Winged Daemon Prince with Mark of Tzeentch ( Wind of Chaos and Warptime )
And I'm guessing by the rules I'll be able to Deep Strike him if necessary...

40 models. Geez. Even with all the firepower, good luck at not getting blasted to death yourself :/ I think a few basic IoCG CSM squads to flesh it out would be helpful.

Heh, a lash list that doesnt run lash. The only thing that connects this to lash lists is lots of oblits, which are sorely needed in 1KSons lists

The 1KSons will survive by keeping in/behind the rhinos. Admittedly they only die as easily as marines but there isnt much reason to dilute the power of this list by adding CSM

Every shot you fire with your Sons at something other than a Space Marine will be wasted points, if that makes sense. Especially if they have cover saves, I still think some CSM squads to flesh it out would be extremely useful.

Might I suggest Wind of Chaos against hordes? You've got a template that wounds on a 4+; a very viable defence, especially against Nob bikers.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made. |
