WOW!!! I like the Tervie! Just my thought on it are, I liked it alot better when the front Carapace was just like you had it before you enlarged it. It would have been one hell of a Trygon.

Although, it is the best and most creative Tervigon ive ever seen so I applaud you.

And here we have bitz for a true scale Carnifex, all dremeled down and cleaned up, though still needing a fair bit of Green Stuff to fill in gaps and clean up connection points. I slacked on cleaning the parts, it's like gap filling, I just find it tedious and unfun, but I want to have this guy standing before the end of today so he's usable in a tournament tomorrow, even if he's not fully finished.

I think I'm going to redo his head later, maybe today yet, we'll see. I want to make it a bit more different from the first one and I saw something someone did with a Bio-Plasma head that I want to try out.

Working as fast as the slow drying plastic glue will let me! I am happy to say though that I've managed to get him to the condition I wanted him to at least attain, standing up with a head and body, though no arms as I need to get replacements for the Crushing Claws I swiped from the kit to finish Tervie. Still makes for a better fig than trying to use an old Exocrine as a proxie.

Speaking of which, I still need to cut a cardboard Large Oval base to slap the Malefactor I'm using as a Tervigon proxie on. Guy running the tournament said it was ok to use, as there is no official model, but that they needed to be on the proper size base, which he declared to be the Large Oval base. I do find it kind of odd and amusing that with no official model he can decide their official base size, but oh well, it's the size I've been using anyway. Which also reminds me that I need to order another one of those bases from GW for T-Fex2.

Anyways, I'll get a picture of T-Fex2's standing body up when the glue's set up better and he doesn't have to lean on a tape measure for support.

Alrighty, seems stable enough now. Note that he's not actually bigger than the first one, he's just rearing up, and will be about to show some more schmuck that while he might have tiny little arms, they still pack a whollop.

I don't know how you couldn't like him, he's practically Tervie's twin! And it's not nearly a Barny Purple level! I actually like the paint job on them for how old they are, though it doesn't look as good on camera. They had been spray painted blue, then given a light dusting of purple from above. It makes them shift color from blue to purple depending on what angle you look at it from, which is really cool. But yeah, just a temporary proxie until I get another Tervigon built.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

Minus the arms of course, but indeed. I've also got the Malefactor and Exocrine painted up in the same colors. It makes me feel old though when 90% of the people who see it have no idea what it is, and don't believe me when I tell them it's an actual Tyranid fig.

At the moment, the only Non-"T" Fexes I have are two of the old old old original metal Screamer Killers. I do intend to get a couple plastic Carnifexes to use as actual Carnifexes (gasp!) and have not yet fully decided if I'll bulk them at all or not. If I do, it won't be to Nearly the same level as the T-Fexes, but just putting a single spacer down the middle, probably 3mm thickness which is a tad less than the T-Fexes, and I'll also do the 2mm to the head, because I like the wider/squatter look to it. They'll have the tusks, but not the beetle bit on the forehead.

Aduro, there is a model kit you need to get.

The omu model from the "nausica" anime.
It is a large beetle shaped bug, like a "potato" bug or rollypolly.
It has multiple eyes aranged accross the first few plates of the carapace and roughly 20 ish legs.

I've always wanted to make a tyranid out of one, but I'd love more to see what you would do with it...

You know about Anime, AND your name is Commodore Perry. Epic lol!

I was in Shimoda for the Black Ships festival the other year. Japanese are so good at turning unfortunate parts of their history into exciting events.

Back on topic.. I love this thread. Massive tyranid gribbly monsters is where it's at and you do them well. My hat is off to you! Even more gribbly to imagine said monsters pooping termagants at the enemy... Ha ha! Sphinctre!

I've seen Nausica, heck I own it. The Omu would make for an interesting base to make something off of, but not really the style of my army. I'm kind of a fluff nutter and like to stick with the standardized appearance of the `Nids. In my army the Omu would end up as nothing more than a carapace for something, with all the legs being replaced with the standard six limbs and the eyes filled in and replaced with a more standard head, which is just kind of a waste. One thing I have thought about doing though is making a little Omu to stick in the hole of one of the hollow bonsai trees I like using for terrain, along with a bunch of other little Miazaki tributes.

Working on a pair of Alpha Warriors for commission, not going to bother showing more pictures of except maybe when they're done as I'm trying to do the heads a tad different, because otherwise it's the same thing you've seen twice before going thru the thread. They are something that diverts work away from my own projects though, and thus slower WIP updates on them. That said...

Did some dental work on the T-Fex, trying to make the teeth on his Bio-Plasma head look more like the teeth on the Tusked head. Did one long tooth in plasticard, and found the second not quite as long tooth to be too tiny and fiddly a bit to do proper so I'll Green Stuff that one in later when I do his jawline.

Did some gap filling on his sternum. The first one used a series of large Extended Carapace bitz to cover this up, but I don't have that many extras of those now so I used the conveniently available extra sternum bit from the Trygon kit. Making more of an effort to fill the gap with more than just flat Green Stuff this time as well.

Sculpted in the throat as well. When I did the neck on the first T-Fex it was pretty much just a lump of Green Stuff, smoothed out into the general flow the neck and poked with some little notches in a weak mimicry of the original detail. When I did the Tervigon I did a much better job in copying the detail and lengthening it out, but it was just in a straight line and didn't show any flex from the way she had her head turned. Now I'm trying to improve my skill yet again, and am working to give connection points to where the flesh of the neck would connect to the collarbone giving it a better sense of movement and fluidity.

Had someone express interesting in having me make him some Tyrant Guard out of Warriors. I was catching the request second hand, but there was reference made to him supplying extra carapace back plates from the Carnifex kit. I'm not sure what he has in mind exactly, but I don't like the carapace plates on Warriors, they're too far out of proportion. The idea of Warrior to Guard has had me thinking though, as I've been wanting to make Guard with a Bonesword and the metal Guard fig, while being something I like, just doesn't really work well for a single sword. I figure I'll make one up to use myself as well as act as a prototype to show the guy if he's still interested.

First step is pretty much the same as the Alpha Warriors, with a quartered thorax, only I used 3mm of card instead of 2mm to make it wider, and when I put front to back I offset them to raise the back up and lower the chest.

Angled the waist to lean a bit more forward, rather than standing it up straighter as the Alpha does. As a spacer to the thorax where it connected to the waist, and then further angled it forward once attached.

All the further I am at the moment on it, but once done it's intended to resemble a small Carnifex. I haven't decided if I want to use the standard Warrior Rending Claws, or use the smaller Genestealer version to de-emphasize them. The Bonesword will be about the same length as an Alpha's sword, but wider and held in a two-handed grip.

I'm thinking of doing some tyrant guard myself out of warriors, i am going to go for a toned down version of the tyrant guard so they look more killy rather than just a shield-wall. I was thinking of giving them shields to replace the free arm, but the idea you have seems good.

I like that sword/shield thing. I hadn't thought of that and might have it give it a look. For now though a quick head and bit of change to their shoulder armor to get him looking more Fex like.
