They will be painted to match troops. Basically mud effect will be put on top and once thats done the edges will be dark brown also. I have got other things that are WIP but thought it wouldn't be worth showing troops with trousers done... or more with coats done..wanted to get a bit more work done on them before some WIP shots... also need to finish the Hellhound... needs mud also... transfers and weathering...

Hey Regnak just thought i would let you know, your generals base inspired my own custom muddy bases, with air dry clay mixed with hard as nail / no more nails , makes a very good mud effect. i have some pics of wip ,in my manufactorum blog , i think it could save you money on greenstuff! to base you whole army cheaply!

Very cloudy and rainy day today so not as great pics as I hoped. When weather is better will take some more as the grey of the coat isn't showing to well in these pics. Tried using lights but those make things look orange... so here is the first look at "General Werkmeister". I was trying to make him look a bit more serious and gritty than alot of the paintjobs I've seen. I wasn't keen on the figure to begin with and he looked more suited to sipping tea on a hill miles away from the battle. I'm really pleased how he turned out and I actually really like the figure now!

Thanks Guys! Spent ages on him. Been working on him on and off for weeks!

Scrazza, you mean colours wise or character wise? Colour wise he is the same colours as my mounted commissar. The colours are a little lighter in person, a dark day didn't help! If you mean Dark Character wise.. then thats exactly what I was going for! I've seen this model on the net and people have painted him in either bright or very tidy crisp colours... I wanted to make him look like he's actually seen some action rather than being fresh off the bus or standing in a parade ground! Will do the rest of the HQ squad in colours to match.. only difference being that they will have the standard issue brown trousers of the rest of my troops and have been given a grey coat instead of normal field coat.

Thanks again for everyones comments, I really appreciate them guys!

More pics soon, added mud to 2 of my heavy bolter squads, 5 Engineers and also the Hellhound. Need to wait till they dry and work a bit more brown paint into the mud.

Thanks for the Gorgon infantry tip. I broke that down with a calculator and that puts your standard infantry at 2.02 usd instead of just over 5. This has me rethinking DKoK.

Its from a Russian KV-2 Tank kit I had... And of course a Chimera kit with extra tracks Turret not stuck in place yet.. got lots of work to do on the hull. I'm thinking of adding some Sponsons......... to the TURRET! Just ordered a Death Korps Tank Commander for this little beast. Also thinking when its done maybe getting some of the FW Chimera Armour skirts.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Was toying with the idea of having NO Leman Russ' in my army... instead convert a few of these... maybe with later versions add magnetic guns so I can swap them about... this is my first tank conversion... and I'm learning alot from this that will make later versions easier.

Cool, a unit of these instead of russ' will give your guard a different character. in a good way of course

Thats what I was thinking

Everyone has a Russ. Although this is pretty pricey... Its basically a Chimera kit £20 and then Bits from Ebay thats around £8 and then a KV-2 kit £8-£10... and then once I've added the tank commander another £10... But What I did for this is get in stages... Doesn't seem so bad when you spread cost! Its just when you add it up and get it in one go that hurts!

But I think its worth it.. really love the KV-2 tank... and I think the look is very Krieg... Was thinking rules wise to play as a Russ... with sponsons AND extra armour.. I know its normally sponsons OR armour? but if I make point adjustments I'd think most people would be cool playing against them?

Thanks again guys for all your comments... will post some more progress ASAP.. almost done with the tracks... just need some Sponsons... and while we are on the subject of Sponsons... I don't suppose any of the UK Dakkites out there have any spare Leman Russ Bolter Sponsons?

I don't know about you, but I LOVED painting the jacket on my Company Commander. It's just so detailed and full of character, really makes the model.

Same goes for me... made working in the colours a real treat. Love the detail, I worked in various strengths of Black wash and am really happy how it turned out
