It's so easy to do clean paint jobs.

Truly awesome work is, like this, dirty, realistic painting!! Keep up the inspiring work.

The Quarter Master and Retinue have always been some beautiful models.... and you've really done them justice. The highlights of the unit to me are: the text scrolls...the red lettering makes it pop, the blood splatter on the med servitor is excellent too and the skull face mask on the Quarter Master. I'm looking forward to the next group shot because they will add a little more variety to the army, with the bone/white colours.

A few questions because I'm rather fond of what you've done....

  • What colours did you use of the text servitors robes? I really like that dark brown.

  • How did you paint the worn paper textrolls?

  • The oxygen tanks on the back of the text servitor are they grey or dark metal?

  • What are you planning on doing with the cherub that came with the group? Text Servitor definitely looks better without it

  • Excellent army. Thanks for showing

Thank you. That's always one of my main goals!

Just for you: Group shots (see below).

  • - Brown on the robe? That's just brushed on dirt (Bestial Brown). The robe itself is Catachan Green washed with Badab Black - as everything else.

  • How did you paint the worn paper textrolls?

  • - Bleached Bone, thin mix of Bleached Bone and Skull White, Devlan Mud, again Bleached Bone and Skull White to highlight the edges.
    - Black, sometimes a mix of Black and Brown, for the text. Red, sometimes with a little Devlan Mud, for the initials.
    - On some parts I washed the rolls with Devlan Mud afterwards.

  • The oxygen tanks on the back of the text servitor are they grey or dark metal?

  • - the same as every other metal: A mix of Boltgun Metal and Chaos Black, washed with Badab Black, highlightes / brushed lightly with Chainmail.

  • What are you planning on doing with the cherub that came with the group? Text Servitor definitely looks better without it

  • - That's what I thought, too. I didn't like the idea of cherubs. I'll give it (along with the cherub from the WHFB general) to a friend who uses them in his BT army (10,000 pts BT ...).

    Excellent army. Thanks for showing

    Thanks for your interest.

    Holy Mother...

Those look amazing, I love the models and paintjobs, your scrolls/writing in particular is very impressive. Damn. That is an amazing job you've done there and I love the army picture (particularly the last one). Seriously great looking forces.

My only qualm is that there doesn't appear to be enough mud on the latest guys. But then again, i think that's probably best so as not to ruin the paint job or models. Great work man.

Thank you for the detailed reply.

In the initial WIP picture of the text servitor the cloak looks brown (I guess that would be my monitor settings) lol.

The eye level group shot looks great...in fact I just want to look at it again....

It's about 1400 in the pic. Right now I have 1440 pts painted. With the Quartermaster done it'll be 1500. I'll try to get to 2000 soon. ( 1/5 of the goal ... )

Here is a small update on the last squad I painted:

    - 53 minis painted this year
    - 114 painted Death Korps (over all)
    - 60 standard Infantry Korpsmen

Right now I'm painting the Quartermaster & Retinue. Really looking forward to posting pics once they're finished! I think you'll love the next update.
It will be a big one!

1/5 of the goal?! How big is this army going to be? I must say that you and a few others here on Dakka truly have made me want to buy a few DKoK of my own... (I'll be placing an order on tuesday, in case your wondering) Also, I love your mud effects, wonderfully done! I doubt I don't have anything else to say that hasn't been said...

Had to google the NG battlebunker because I wasn't familiar with it. I'm not a very experienced player but I'm looking forward to get into playing now that I have 1500 points available.

Yeah, some guys from Hamburg that I know have ~ 7000 points of Orcs and Black Templar each, one guy is building Renegades. He just started but already has a Warhound (or was it a Reaver?). So, yeah, I gotta keep up with the insanity. We all declared that we'd aim for 10,000 points. I think the Black Templar guy has just reached it. I know that it'll take me a while, but once you start Super Heavies, points come in pretty easy.
