Why are people pulling the smurf card on the Ultramarines? So what if they're blue. You can have a rainbow space marine and still he's a badass.

They have pulled some window licker moves but by and large they have done okay...

Who realise that Space Marines were meant to be perfect and now people want the last few perfect chapters to be inperfect. Also does anybody else realise that by being perfect, their's nothing wrong with you.

(The means I'm jesting, you seem to be pretty quick to anger throughout this thread with your 12 year old defense of "You stupid, go away". *cough*Rule 1 by the way*cough*)

Perfection is impossible though. It also leads to them being bland storywise. If they were completely perfect at all times then they would be even more predictable than they are now, making the stories about them less interesting.

As for me I'm just bored of seeing them so much (choices seem to be grey, blue or red marines). Background has it's super hyped moments at times, but really no reason to get so worked up about it.

I thought the nicknames went.
Dark Angels = Emo Marines
White Scars = Bikie Marines
Iron Hands = Metal Marines

Don't think Raven Guard has one, but I'm proposing Ninja Marines.

Face it. No army gets half the gak Ultramarine players have to sit and take. No other army has half as much of a stigma against it as the Ultramarines. Throwing up the "well other chapters have cutesy names too!" argument holds as well as a paper boat in a hurricane. Space wolves are taken seriously, have a codex devoted to themselves and I have yet to hear of a battle where the space wolves failed. Dark Angels are taken seriously, have a codex devoted to themselves and are not taunted for the origin of their name/primarch. Black Templar are taken seriously, are a SUCCESSOR CHAPTER with a codex of their own and the worst thing I've ever heard about them is, "I'm not big on the religious fanaticism." Ultramarines do not have their own codex though are often ridiculed for having more SC than other chapters, are not taken seriously and are often wished to disappear or turn traitor, and are constantly harassed about their chapter colors, primarch's name, their name, perceived lack of faults, primarch writing a book despite the hundreds of real life generals who have done the same thing, not being at Siege of Terra despite the missing presence of several loyalist legions, a piece of fluff that can be easily ignored as slowed ramblings of matt ward, and accusations of "plot armor" despite pretty much every marine suffering the same fault.

In short, if you truly hate the Ultras and have problems with them, you should probably grow up and get your head out of your ass. There is no reason to disrespect your fellow hobbyists over something as petty as this irrational mob mentality towards their army.

They're just generic space marines, the codex may as well be called codex "Ultramarines" for all the difference it would make.

Yes. The Space Marine codex is devoted to Ultras. 'Battles of the Ultramarines' 'The Ultramarine Chapter' 'Victories of the Ultramarines'. Thats the entire codex of them and thats why I dont have the SM codex.

So, um, people who are held to be perfect are almost always hated. Fundamental aspect of the human condition.

Why are the Ultramarines hated? Because, as much as Space Marines are over-exposed and over-hyped, the Ultries are even more so. Nothing like familiarity to breed contempt.

There is no doubt that the amount of ultramarines in model form would outnumber the actual chapter by hundreds to one, so why would anybody want thier marines to be ultra? try something differant for a change.

I personally dislike the Ultramarines because of how awesome the books keep insisting they are and how better they are than other armies and how cool they are. Honestly, I find nothing really wrong with them beyond that some of their strongest fanboys help write the books. I'm sure if they toned down their fluff a bit most people would hate them less.

No, the space marine codex isn't devoted to the Ultras. If it was, there would be no other chapters in there. The Ultras take the majority, but that doesn't mean it is devoted to them.

Thats why the majority of the fluff is purely abuot thema nd claims Blood Angels want to shun Sanguinus and take Gulliman as their primarch

So does this mean I should hate the blood angels because they have a dex devoted to their legion? Or the Space Wolves? Or the Dark Angels? And I don't see any of you complaining about how a successor chapter got it's own dex.

No it is because the codex is calle Codex: Space MArines, not Ultramarines but they may as well call it that as they removed all chapter traits

In the previous book you could take chapter traits, these were far more extensive than the current system.
I miss chapter traits but i do like the new system though it is inferior in every way IMO.
