No. How about less marine codexes with wacky imbalanced rules and lame new units.

Yeah, they do focus on the SM a bit much. More Eldar and Tau would be nice. And I think Necrons need a make over.

Hell the Ultra Marines are the best Imperium Space Marine chapter....yes there is fluff and buff. As for them being bunk, no way I face them every week end and there tough. I also stat that they do get Storm Ravens and Thunderhawks just await for the White Dwarf updates. Thinking there weak, remember that most chapters follow there way of thinking and are looked up to. An all out fighting force of....Marines, no fluff......

It's quite clear that Calgar's only influence on the battle was a negative one, since he was outsmarted by Tyranids of all things.

Where does it say this because in the Space Marine and Tyranid codexes, it says the opsasite(sp?) of what you wrote in your post. And we all no you hate space marines and come up with bad reasons of why they're bad.

They wont get Storm Ravens. The Grey Knights use them because they are good, and the Blood Angels can use them only because their relations with Adaptus Mechanicus arent good at all. Ultras are good friends with the Mechanicus, after all. So using them would be very wrong for them. Just the same as saying that Ultramarines get the Baal Predator and Dreadknight.

About the Tunderhawks: dont they have them? I might not know that...

That's straight from the Tyranid codex. Repeating "and he's totally awesome and crucial and smart you guys!" doesn't really mean anything when his actions are quite visibly contrary to the praise being lauded upon him.

Like Napoleon and Caesar before the Ultramarines claim to fame is having good PR. When they do good they make it sound great. When they do bad it is either someone else's fault or due to some awesome ability of their opponent.

The Ultramarines are not awesome they just keep saying they are. As the old quote goes... “If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. " Joseph Goebbels

THAT is the core reason I dislike the Ultramarines. No I do not dislike the space marines but keep shoving down my throat the Robert Guillman is the messiah of the Imperium and I get nauseous.

No, my point is that Ultrasmurfs are seen as the ultimate heroes, but they dont have that much heroes. They have their chief librarian sicarus and calgar.
But the Blood Angels (yes, they again) have for instance Dante, Mephiston, Tycho, the Sanguinor, Astorath, Lemartes, etc.

People like to make fun of the Ultramarines because they are the poster-child of 40k. Because of this most new players take them as a first army (guilty, but at least I switched pretty quick), and anyone who has seen a 40k poster knows only what the Ultramarines look like and nothing else meaning that they only like the Smurfs out of ignorance (its not their fault). So this means that they are synonymous with 'newbdom' as well.

It says he is a gifted tank commander.
Sicarius is arrogant and Calgar is posibly a bit too proud.
It says nothing about Chronus being either.

The fact that their most famous captain is named after a nickname for one fo the most famous traitors in modern history kinda puts me off them a little bit.

(Sicarius is related to various beliefs about Judas Iscariot and assassination in general...)

Might as well just give his first name as Judas.

hmm in general you don't have to pretend the Ultras are the most awesome. In fact the codex to me sais 'yeh this is our chapter and you can make your own this is a guide'

So why don't people relax a little think a little bit laterally and chill, be happy. Make a nice chapter you like and write the battles you do and stop hating on a template.

My personal chapter are the most undynamic bores of the galaxy. I also have some ultras and think they are quite neat (as expressed earlier).

They get chopped in pieces by an angry Mephiston or Death Company member xD
The thing is that that Tellion is n00b because he is old and is a scout (joke)

But hey, that are less uber-smurfs then the BA uber-emos

erm...? Perfect? Ultramarines? Didnt you swappe names with Black Templars or Blood Angels?
The only good thing the Ultras did was making a succesor that is cooler then them. They are called 'the Crimson Fists'.
But they have the same logo as the Imperial Fists.

Space Wolves and Blood Angels are just as boring, cliched and unimaginative ( look at me, i am different! and so rebellious!, and so mysterious!, and so tragical! i am teenage wish fulfilment! *puke*...).
Still, there are many other chapter, codex adherent or not, which deserve much more spotlight. Scythes of the Emperor, Lamenters, Iron Hands, Black/White Consuls, Silverskulls and many others would all be grateful for a good story or two, especialy the former two which could represent marine chapters without the usual fluffshields.
