Well, I have started painting my brothers Tau for him after about 10 paint scheme changes. He is worse then my wife changing out the curtains.
But here it is and I know I still have some touch ups to do on it but wanted to get feedback on it before I start the final touch ups.
I will learn to use this camera one day I swear. I can not seem to get it to ever focus on the right thing. Its funny the engines and the base are in focus but not the front. Go figure.

Looks good to me, nice base!

Nuclear: Properly pronounced new-clear, not new-cue-lir. There is no 'u' between the c and l, so stop saying it because it just makes you sound like a dumbass. This includes nucleolus, and all other derivatives of the word.

Hell yea, thats a nice color scheme. Ive always thought about playing Tau as a second army when I am finally satisfied with my Ork horde

I'm loving that base! Wow. The color scheme appears to be close to my friend's Tau.

Thanks for the comments on the base.

The base is a pretty funny thing. My wife has taken up the hobby of necklace and ear ring making with beads and such. The base comes form an old necklace she had of her mothers that I cut up and put on the base then put some rocks and grass on it. No painting at all.

Colors and lines are very neat and tidy. Good job. Perfect for the Socialists of the future.

About to eat your Avatar...

Mmmmmmm....

Tau devil-fish never looked so edible. I see a few very subtle mistakes... nothing I would pay much attention too. Peeving about details can be the downfall of a fantastic paint-job.

Hmm... it really does look like a japanese candy. Is this actually a baked good?

I love the clean scheme and great glow effects on the lenses, but the thing I always hate to see are those large rocks on the bases. The ones that fit maybe 25 or 30 on a 28mm base. GW modelling sand just looks better. You managed to make it work here, but I'm going to strangle you if you do it on your friend's infantry bases.

Anywho, great work, keep it up.

Please take this with a grain of salt.

Model looks great.

Base is crap.

The best thing about it is that you can get a new base.

The bit stuck on the side of England. Wales isn't it.

A good clean job. I can't see any , highlighting , lining weathering or free hand markings . But I like the colours , I've seen too many garish colour schemes on tau recently. For a race that uses local colours on its vehicles and uniform, this is just right.

again, thanks for the comments.

I personally like the base for this model. But it actually is the first and only base I ever tried to do and it is for one of my sons Necrons so it will not be staying with this vehicle. And my tinder feeling are not hurt that you do not like the base MauleedlovesYakeface. It actually really looks better in person then the pic. Me and this camera are about to duke it out in the back yard if it does not start taking pics like I want.

There are some weathering around the vents and intakes and such. I pretty much finished it yesterday and put some weathering on the nose and I really did not like the way it was turning out so we are gonna stay with the clean look. I am gonna have to practice on the weathering a little more.

Well here is the final product...I think. You can barely see the weathering attempt on the nose in this pic.

Good paint job. I am not sure I like the colors.

I always see TAU with bright clors like this, and it bugs me... they are still in warzones, and I am sure that being in siad zones they would know something about camoflage.

I went with a dark green armor and black clothes... but then it is just me.

If these were my Tau I might rush to their defense but like I said they are my brothers and I am painting them for him. If it were up to me they would be painted RED and have lots of nice armor bolted on and those iddy biddy guns replaced with something a little more Bigg'a. : I tried and he would not let the Big Mech in me run free on his Tau. Oh the mods I could do with this thing.

*Might* be a bit think in the paint on some areas, but my eyes are quickly diverted over the rest of the model. Very impressive; I approve.

It is a good, solid paintjob, but it needs highlighting. Bring out those hard edges with a lighter tan.

My brother is going to learn a life lesson soon.

Never let an orc paint your Tau.

I have decided to paint the next DF with a different paint scheme. Old and rusted out just to see how it looks. I have read too many times about how the Tau always look like they just came off the show room floor. I will post some pics if she turns out ok.

Good, clean paint job. I certainly would not mind if an opponant sat down across from me with such models. Of course, it should be noted that my Tau army is almost 2 years old and most is still un-primed, let alone painted.

There is no prize that exceeds the worth of my honor.

To me the Tau seem like they are disciplined enough to always keep the vehicles and their equipment clean and rust free. Its the other end of the spectrum for Orks, and I like that lol

I like it

Most of the time Tau are painted really crisp and clean, but in some inhospitable locations or where there is a long-term battle where they don't have time to repair, I could see one of them looking like this!

I can't wait to see the details added in . It'd also be nice to see the story for why this particular transport ended up in such shape! (a planet with particularly nasty rust-inducing terrain, a prolonged battle with the orks where they couldn't link up with the main battlegroup, etc)

Awesome

Not sure what is gonna happen with this but my brother is liking the whole "rusted up" look and is thinking of doing his whole Tau army like this.

I really like it, it looks more realistic and grimdark than most people paint their Tau.

Diggin' both. First kinda looks like my Tau just painted 10x better. Base rocks! I wanna see what you would do for the base on the rusted Tau.

Gonna make me rethink my IG tanks now. I had them looking a little too nice. The Tau can't be dirtier than the IG after all.

Very, very nice, clean paint job. I'd weather it up a bit, but that's just me personally liking dirtied up models I think.

Love both of them. The first one is very crisp and clean, nice work.
I actually really like the rusty model. Not that my tau will ever look like that, but i've been wondering just how to get Grimdark Tau, and i think you've done it.

I like where you are going with this but it looks way too bland. I think you need to do more so that it's not just lost in the other models. Something to make it pop.

I think if you take the engine and give it a bright color for the intake and outtake then you can still have the rust and the pop that makes it special.
