So here's a question for all my fellow CSM players.

I was looking through that horrible book we call (rather reluctantly) a codex and found myself looking at the Noise Marines, whom I have never used and found myself wondering if they are worth taking. I mean if you upgrade them all the Sonic Blasters they can fire and then assault which seems good, particularly if you give the champ the AP3 template weapon, and at I5 they are gonna be hitting before most of what I fight, which generally comes down to SM, Orks or Nids.

So what do you think are they work taking in games? Or should I just leave them laying around until I feel I need to change things up a bit?

I like using 6 or 7 of them with a Blastmaster and have them sit on objectives and give support fire, str. 8 ap3 small blast, works pretty good against most things.

I'm fairly new but my Noise Marine's are awesome, i love how they can hold objective's and just destroy... maim target's however they do get pricey quickly so only have 7-8 and either give them Soni/blast master or just deck the champ out it's more efficent in my case. even deadlier with Rhinos

I've sold so many armies. :(

Yeah, a 7 man squad with Sonic Blasters and a Blastmaster will shred anything that doesn't have an AV (and even some things that do) at 24". I mean, its 18 bolter shots at 24" and a blast krak rocket!

All those shots sound great, I do believe I will pick some up.

The sink.

Beware!

The box only comes with one sonic blaster and one blast master. You must convert the rest. Or buy them direct from GW.

I think I will buy the upgrade set from the web site.

The only thing I'll be missing out of that is the Doom Siren right?

Right. Since your going direct, there is a noise marine lord with a doom siren available.

In the box you get a single sonic blaster and blastmaster. Then the upgrade kit from GW comes with another 5(?) Sonic Blasters and ANOHER Blastmaster. Ghaaagh, the redundancy is astounding. Point is, unless you are making a close quarters combat squad with a Doomsiren/Power Wep Champ, just get a CSM box and one of the upgrades.

My buddy Sean plays CSM's and almost always brings Noise Marines to the table. They're just one of those all around good units. They really capitalize on that key Marine ability to stand and shoot things given that they're fearless Marines with cooler guns.

Yeah there is 5 of them in there, plus the blast master. I'll do as you suggest and pick up the upgrade and CSM squad, and grab the lord like Noisy suggested.

Yeah their shooting abilities is what attracted me to them, particularly their assault weapons, that way when the horde armies get to close I can fall back and still shoot while still remaining out of charge range, or move forward, shoot and take the charge from them.
