I am going to come right out and say it; I just don't like the Tank Busta models. I want to build Tank Bustas that don't look so rediculous, but the problem is: where do I get all those rokkit launchas? Ork boyz come with 1 per box, so I have 2. They have some tankbusta bombs, and I can make a couple swinging those without actually needing a rokkit on a stick, but after that I'm suck. What is the easiest way to get my hands on lots of missiles? What kit comes with tons of scenery missile bits so I can put them on the ends of sticks. If the IG Heavy Weapons teams or a kit like that does, I would even grab the rocket launcher they come with, just to increase the usage. Can anyone point out such a kit or give another idea?

Couldn't you just buy the tankbusta's box.Use the rockets but combined them with the the boys' box.

Ah, but unless I am mistaken the kit is metal. Ork metal kits tend to be 2 peices, which means I'd have to do major metal cutting. It is an option though, but I'd get less rokkits out of it than I'd like.

I haven't seen the Ork rocket launchers, but how about scratch building them. I'm expecting that they not much more than a tube.

You can build them by the truck load with the right stuff. Ink pen tubes(or something similar in size) some green stuff/puddy/bullet tips from a 22. Anything near that size as well. Infact theres a tutorial on Dakka somewhere where someone makes some scratch built rokkits and they look GREAT. And dont get scared by the GS/puddy part, im sure EVERYONE can roll that stuff into a cone shape

Right now I'm really looking at getting the IG Heavy Weapon kit and bashing it with an ork boy kit. Does anyone have a sprue pictures or an estimate of how many rocket/motar bits it comes with?

The thing with tankbustas that miffed me a bit was the fact I can't give the squad a Trukk. And didn't wanna get another Battlewagon. Thus dashing my plans of a white Ork Trukk with lightbars and bling.

I built a sqaud of 15 tankbustas out of plastic boyz,I used rokkit launchers from the boyz box & loota box, used GS to make rokkitz & cut choppaz down to make tankhammers.
Alternitly you could always hunt up some cheap military models, jets, rocket trucks, etc, and use the rockets in thoose kits, you can always use the left over parts for scratch building/kitbashing.

Thanks for the ideas everyone. I've gotta finish up my slugga boy mob, and once I get that done I'll be able to get to work on this. Keep the ideas rollin' and I'll see whats easiest for me and get pics up when I get started.

Custom building your own is quite easy. It requires some spare sprue, guitar wire, plastic card and two sizes of plastic rod. These are a few of mine converted from a few spare ork boys I had laying around, using a variation of this tutorial from over on the Waaagh forum http://www.the-waaagh.com/forums/?showtopic=28702. Hope it helps you out too.

Heres how i made mine. i took the AoBR big shoota boys and the deffkoptas from AoBR. i made koptas-bikes so i cut off the twin linked rokkits. drill holes in rokkits and slide them on big shootas (or whatever) use the rokkits with that look atttacked to something as an ammo pouch or add to gun to give it an interesting feel.
so yeah basically use the deffkoptas rokkits and make bikes from koptas or tl big shoota koptas

ORK APOC.!!!

I had the same problem, just not enough rokkits to go around. I solved this by takeing all the black reach orks with the big shootas and giving them som converts like bombs and stuff and those cool mines that come in the boyz packs with spare bitz from tank boxes. To convert the big shoota I made a mould out of greenstuff of the end of a rokkit launcha and just mass produced greenstuff rokkits and stuck them on the end and the result was pretty good.

I solved this problem for myself by doing some creative conversions. I built a few 'rokkit' rifles by marrying regular shootas with Marine hunter-killer launch tubes and some plasticard underframes and small bitz, making them look like some pretty badass customers. I also built up some boyz to have 'rokkit pistols' by affixing tiny rocket bits from the Loota kits (you know, the ones that go onto the deffguns) to sluggas and giving them tankbusta-bomb arms or otherwise affixing free tankbusta bombs to belts and backpacks. With some creative poking, you can make them look both varied and interesting without giving them all the standard rokkit launcha look. I also converted some Big Shootas into orky versions of recoilless anti-tank rifles, which turned out really well.

My favorite conversion is a throwback to the comic-relief days of the Orks: I took a boy and converted him to look as if he's hefting a spare Whirlwind missile like a javelin, whilst pointing (with the pointing arm from the Battlewagon kit) off into the distance toward his target. Gave him some medals and such to hang around his neck. 'I gotz dissun from da Hundred-Yard Tozz, for when I chukked dis Beakie rokkit into der boss's wagon. Busted it up good, it did, yar har....'

cutting rokkits from the combi weapons in the nobs box works pretty well. The lootas and burnas box comes with one rokkit launcha and you can always use the side mounted rokkits for the deff guns. There unnecessary anyways and could make for an easily cool tank hammer

I like those quite a bit. Very convincing.

Looks like they are out of stock, and I don't see the actual rockets in that set.

Wait here they are, not very cheap though. http://www.thewarstore.com/product27196.html
Is it really wysiwyg ?

I had an old army helicopter plastic model lying around with a bunch of missiles, so I cut those up, glued them to the ends of shootas and cut the magazines off. Simple, but they look great.

I agree, the warstore's prices are a bit pricey. $12 for 5 Ork legs? no friggin way.
Just scratch build them. Itll look more Orky and be cheaper. Win, win
