I'm use Lesser and Greater Daemons extensively in my renegades. There are a couple other strategies I could add to that. Buffers: Those Gene-stealers on the way to my exposed Noise Marines? Toss a squad of Lessers in the way, let them get slaughtered and then waste the Stealers with your Sonic Blasters. Delaying: Toss them into tough shooty or moderatly assaulty units (ie. Firewarriors and Space Marines respectively) so that the unit you used to summon them can take its melta weapons to deal with any armor. Another thing that is important to mention: with proper preperation, they can come in anywhere. If everyone is carrying an Icon, you can put them where ever the enemy decides to fight. This is especially important for the Greater Daemon, who is such a powerful asset and potent combatant. The tactical flexability of those extra bodies and that MC are astounding for the footprint it has on your list. I have 2 squads of 7 Lessers and the Greater Daemon, and I still have room for a tactically independant core. Lesser Daemons aren't game winners by themselves, but being able to assault anything within 12" of the Icon the turn they arrive with a Space Marine's stat-line is nothing to scoff at. Against MEQs they are speed bumps, but against GEQs they are actual combatants. They can be where you need them, to either provide moving cover or to tie up the enemy. The Greater Daemon is probably the most cost effectient unit in the Codex, and he IS my game winner. His stat-line will beat out any MC for its points, and can be anywhere on your line that the enemy decides to commit his assault.

I was going to write down my opinion but found that DarkHound did it before. Well said, dude.

Not a bad start. But the article could be massively expanded just by culling all the tips from this thread:

Heh, this is funny.
Right after AF's Article poo pooing them.
And for the thread Mannahnin pointed out...man, I kinda wish I didn't just read it and remind myself of it. .
Anyway, I'd second Darkhound's comments... I'm the kinda guy that would run a squad or two of 20 .

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.
