In a game i played, my boys warped completely around the enemy models after close combat had issued. I then took heavy casualties and only had a couple on the far side of the unit. They fled. What direction do I run? Strait back like the rules say passes directly through the enemy unit i was fighting. Is this ok? do I pass right through?

James Bond says, "I can not retreat, my path is blocked. What do you expect me to do?" Goldfinger says, "I expect you to die Mr. Bond !" Muhahahaha ! (or run around them if possible...but I rather you die) See what I did there?

Please note - terms like 'always/never' are carried with the basic understanding that there are exceptions to the rule, and therefore are used to mean generally...
"I do not play people who blatently exploit the rules to their own benefit, in any game. It is disrespectful to the game designers and other players." |

Flexen, that quote popped into my head when I read the thread title.... I almost spit on my screen when I saw you thought of it also.

Yes it's ok. Read the rule a bit more carefully and you'll find that falling back ignores the unit(s) the falling back unit was in combat with.

Blast it, Mr. Bond was the first thing that came to my mind too.
If you REALLY can't fall back though, then you die. Yes, you exit combat through them though.

I have always thought that you flee towards the nearest table edge, so assuming you are on the other side of the table (with the one long edge nearer to your unit than the other) then you would run away from the combat unit directly towards the nearest table edge?
may be wrong but playing footslogging orks i don't do morale, my boyz just get wiped out without having to worry about it!

No you always flee towards your 'own table edge'.
