Oh yeah! Time to properly get my geek on!
Dunno if anyone has seen this or indeed missed this, but a particularly whistle whetting whovian rumour pic has surfaced, showing DT, John Simms, and Timothy 'he was a better Bond than many think' Dalton altogether.
And Dalton is almost certainly wearing Gallifreyan Robes. Well, he is definitely wearing Robes of some kind, but I'm pretty sure that the design is Gallifreyan.
Could it be Russell T Davies has finally seen what a crap idea killing all the other Timelords was? Was their 'disappearance' part of some elaborate punishment on the Doctor for starting the Time War? Who (literally, Who) knows!

I think having all the Timelords die was a good idea, actually. It really emphasises the Doctor's loneliness, which is a big part of the story for me.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made. |

OOhhh this looks very interesting.
As an aside I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who thinks that Dalton was very underrated as Bond. Certainly he was (at the time) closer to the Flemming character than any of the actors who preceded him.

I like this idea.
My theory is that when Dalek Caan rescued Davros from the time war, he permanently broke down the gate.
meaning that all the people that were stcuk within the time war can now get out.
Davies did after all say in an interview with Radio Times tha "the gate is open"

Thats a fair point as well Goliath.
And perhaps it was more the Doctor was timelocked out of those events? Wibblywobblytimeywimey would make that feasible, as events critical to your own timeline cannot be changed by yourself, but it is possible for others to change them.

Actually MDG the doctor was the one that locked the time war away in the first place,
as he ran away and hid, which is why Davros mocked him,
It is also why he was so surprised when Davros turned up

..well......what did people think about "Water of Mars" then ?
Overall...I'll give it 6..maybe 6 and a half out of 10..mainly due to the cool "twist" at the end on Earth. Very average otherwise and I didn't find or think it was scary at all. The "monster" idea was alright..nothing we' haven't seen before though..but the execution was a bit "meh" as well.
Xmas special does look good though.

I liked it. I rate it higher than 6.5.
Doctor Who can never be as scary for a 47 year old as it was when I was 7 and had to hide behind the sofa at teatime.
I thought the storyline about The Doctor becoming too big for his Timelord boots and getting an unpleasant comeuppance was clever and mature.

..scary is always relative I know but they'd gone on and on about how creepy it was...Blink was much scarier IMO.
The twist with the Dr. at the end was the best bit of the whole show and I was forced to dock it 1 mark for the inclusion of a comedy robot .

"Famed fantasy and science fiction author Michael Moorcock announced that he will be writing a Doctor Who novel on his Website. It will be a new novel, not an adaptation, and is expected to appear by the holiday season of 2010.
Sounds like it’s not quite inked yet; Moorcock says he expects to be “signing shortly.”
..this could be either the best or the worst story ever.

Blink was the one with the statues that moved when you weren't watching them?
Gotta agree about the comedy robot, but at least Dr Who himself dissed it, thus making it an in-joke.
