Fisrt off, I know people like pics. I'll get some up if I can find the camera.

On to the meat and potatoes. I have a LRBT that I base coated black years ago and finally got around to today. I realized that the color scheme I want to use on my other tanks would best result from a white or green base coat. So instead of doubling up on spray coats I decided it was a prime candidate for a commissar tank. I did all the highlighting, tracks and imperial symbols this morning. Now I need something to really make it pop. Sooo....

What are appropriate markings for a commissars ride? I'm thinking maybe some red stripes infront of the sponsons and maybe painting the muzzle break red as well.

I plan on digging through my bits box for purity seals and scrolls. I know I should have put them on first before getting to involved with the painting but I can work around it.

Also, the original turret is all closed up. I've seen some examples of commissar tanks with a commissar boldly sticking up out the turret and it looks good and I like it. As "luck" would have it, I just got another tank in the mail and my Ryza pattern Vanquisher turret from Forgeworld; so I can build a new turret for it and get a commissar to stick out the top. Is it worth the work though?

You could always make the Commissar surf the Tank like that picture of Yarrick from some random comic

A tank of the commisariat should be dripping in stuff to bolster the courage of nearby units... and have a heavy stubber to ensure obedience

I would also recommend big speakers and a serious comms array. Otherwise I guess it should be painted in blacks, silvers and reds. It really shouldn;t be trying to hide in the background (unless its carrying Cain ).

Loud speaker.. hmm... I like it, now i need greenstuff. Might as well get a commissar too when I get to the store.

Regarding the loud speaker, if you have one of the search lights kicking around that would make a pretty good base for it.

The seals are a must I feel , I would also go with gold trim as well . And if it is going to be a commissar tank he has to be sticking out yelling and everyone , and yes have a heavy stubber to keep the troops in line would also be rad .

Just get the chasis, cover it in greenstuff and start feathering it. It should be entirely covered in purity seals.

The little shields came from WHFB Brettonians and the imperial bits came from a Black Templar accessories spru.

Great idea for using the search light base for the loud speaker. It will be going on the box on the side of the turret. As soon as I get a commissar I will complete the cupola (sp?).

The flash and sun really brought out the difference in color between the black and the highlights. They blend better in less extreme light environments.

You should add a mic in front of him and put speakers on the sides. Searchlights with green stuff between the ridges could work for those.

Agreed, would be fluffy for the commander (presumably the boss commissar) to be yelling threats/encouragement into a mic, and have loudspeakers on all sides. Some of the CoD terrain should give some nice bling to add to the sides - and it needs lotsa skulls, several million purity seals etc

The hull is pretty much done, and hopefully my trip to the LGS will prove fruitful. Can't wait to see this thing get done. Probably going to be my best tank ever, considering it's already taken twice as long as all my others.

Just need to paint it now. What do you guys think? Also my apologies for using the same figure Jack... it was the only one available at the store that would work in the turret. On a little bit of a time schedule, have to go back to Iraq in a couple weeks and didn't want to wait on the mail.

I'm gonna stuff that hole in the bottom of the stubber ammo can too. It's not glued down to the pintle yet.

Regardless of the commisar used, that is an awesome loudspeaker

I am loving the Green stuff work... I am TERRIBLE at green stuff! Looks GREAT so far keep it up! Perhaps wires running to the loud speaker, or into the tank may be in order.

Now this is just me, but I hear Commisar, and I think battle veteran, extravagent... I think, replace the skulls on the banner, for the Eagle thing, put some of the battle comendations buttons or medals that you always see on space marines and such on the bottom of the banner, and or around the top of the tank.

As well as I dont know about you, but this arm in the air... to me that telling me, "I WANT TO HOLD SOMETHING!!!" but thats just me...

Regardless of that I think it looks fabulous... you wanted some input and ideas... there is a couple.

Hehe, well the arm in the air is a powerfist. So I'm thinking arm raised to emphasize a point of his oration.

And I did add a wire from the speaker to the mic stand.

I got some more WHFB stuff... Some banners from the high elves that would look good under the heavy bolters if they are not to long. Most of my SM/IG bits went missing when my parents boxed my stuff up when I joined the army.

Yes, banners galore would look good - provided you can paint them well (I've seen some really really awful banners).

Loving the speaker man! I used the search light to do one, but I just put some mesh over it so it looked like a speaker, nothing as cool as yours.

Yeah, I understand its a power fist, but its at the right angle and open just enough to hold a symbol of power. Something to emphasis, "I AM IN POWER MOFOs!" Even if its something like a bar with grip marks where the Powerfist may have squished the metal, and a Imperial crest on the end of it. -But again, just me... I tend to over do it.-

As for the Banners and medals galore, thats a must. Perhaps some extra armor plates, they dont want the commisar vuneriable.

Now this might be stretching it, again me overdoing it... I dont even know if it would look good. But right there on top of the tank, just lay next to his a las-pistol or a bolt pistol, what ever they use.
