Ol' Blighty

can everyone tell me what the latest rumours are?

DS:90-S++G+++M++B++I+Plotr06#+D+++A++++/eWD251R+++T(Ot)DM+
JB: I like the concept of a free Shrike roaming through the treetops of the jungle. I'm not sure that I like the idea of a real Shrike sitting on my couch eating my Skittles.
corpsesarefun: Thank god I missed be nice to shrike day.
greenskin lynn: because of all the skittles and soda, you basically live off sugar water, like some sort of freakish human-hummingbird hybrid.

Well where to begin?

GW decided that Dark Eldar will be the next big thing so you can expect a new Dark Eldar codex in February of next year.

Also, although Squats are gone, there are plans to release the concept as the Demiurge as a stand alone codex. We saw a preview of the models and they were AWESOME!!!!!!!!

For Fantasy, the error that is the Daemons Army Book has been recognized and we should expect to see an updated book. Lots of nerfs all around.

Brettionia will be released but only in French.

Space Hulk was such a huge success that we should see every Specialist Game getting their own Limited Edition release. Next up is GorkaMorka.

Finally, Chaos Space Marines will get a new codex. But instead of a fluff section there's just a picture of Jervis giving the middle finger to HBMC.

That's all for now!

My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings.

Due to the success of the Overwatch concept in the new Space Hulk and in 2nd edition 40K, it will again appear in the 40K rules when version 6 of 40K is released

On the subject of Games Day UK 2009, GW provided this info today.

I'm more interested in talking about Games Day 2010 events. I've had discussions with a couple different people in GW US about how stripped down and low-budget Games Day events were this year, making them the least spectacular Games Days ever. I've been reassured that the error of turning their premiere product and hobby showcase into an empty shell of its usual self will not happen in 2010. Supposedly, Games Day 2010 will restore Games Day to its usual level of spectacle and excitement.

You know, if GW wanted to drive more interest at future Games Days, perhaps GW could sell individual bitz...

That would be a nice, new thing for them to do next year!

I've heard the same and I really hope it's true. Toning things down didn't work for E3, and apparently it didn't work too well for GW. Here's hoping it's back to it's former glory soon.

BrassScorpion, I'll need a report telling me how awesome GD2010 was before I consider a ticket again.

GD Balt 2009 was the closest thing to theft I've ever seen, in terms of content versus cost. I'm not doing that again.

Seeing a bunch of pre-release stuff for GDUK reminds me of my first GD (when they treated it like something special hobby-wide), and how pathetic 2009 was in comparison.

Beyond that, great thread. Very useful.

Not been to GD for many years, so this may seem a stupid question. Can you buy stuff with a credit card?

If you can keep your head, while all about you are losing their's, then you have probably completely misunderstood the situation!

Yes you can.

If you're travelling to the event with your local GW store and the coach they hired then you should receive a free novella entitled "Vulkan's shield" by Nick Kyme which is a taster for his Salamander series of books.

Which is pretty good actually so far, first book starts a little clunkily perhaps but hits its stride quickly and has some cool moments in it.

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.

By "novella" I in fact mean a folded and printed sheet of A4 in fact. Still it seems the next BL open day is 13.2.10.

Warseer has a few pics. It's very Starship Trooper-esque in that it has a cargo-bay for infantry either side of the cockpit.

And then big Land Speeder wings.

That looks like a Land Speeder variant to me. The forward wing/spoiler/cockpit. Plus, didn't FW state previously they always wanted to do a proper mid-range flying vehicle for the SM (As the Tempest was considered a failure)? Maybe a 'Scout' Speeder for Tac marines..?

The most exciting thing I've read/seen so far; Tallarn! Finally an excuse to buy those FW rough riders and do an Africa Korp themed IG force;

Tallarn plastics would pretty well guarantee that I start an Imperial Guard army. Great-coat guard wouldn't.
