Wouldn't it just be easier for GW to preview their own books and upcoming releases rather than hiding them awa all the time?

Maybe they could do it at some big once-a-year event like a games... day or something. I dunno. You come up with a good name. But at these 'Games Days' they could have the whole new range on display, painted perfectly, to show off what the new kits could do - maybe even run demo games with the new Army Books/Codices, offer advanced release kits as prizes, that sort've thing. They could use theses 'Games Days' to have Q&A's with the writers of their books, giving us an incite into the design process and why certain decisions could be made, and even brief looks into the future of the rules with what great new stuff they've got coming up for us. They could show off upcoming models and collector's pieces at these 'Games Days' as well, and give all the attendees something to go home and tell their friends about, so everyone gets all buzzed about the upcoming releases.

I think I might write to GW about this 'Games Day' idea and... oh wait...

Crap.

Yes. Gamesday. A day for gaming. If you want more confirmation of rumours you should inquire about a Rumourday. Until then, if you keep trying to talk with your tongue in your cheek so much you're liable to bite it off.

yeah,
RumourDay sounds awesome.
But you know there will be interweb complaints about the lack of games going on...

Wasn't that kind of the original point of the Studio Open Day?

If they would just take a page from blizzard in terms of what they show off, announce, and demo, maybe GD would be worth going to.

But then it would give Jarvis a reason to make a 4 hour speech on how special characters are important.

I've got a great idea. Let's get off topic AND be really offensive!

Agamemnon2 wrote:I think the current GW method has a lot of problems, one of the major one is them deciding that since they can't show off new stuff in the cases, they'll put a bunch of test sculpts there. This leads to disappointed fans, endless false rumors and the like. Just recall how many times we had to quash the "look, new DE haemonculi!" rumor

And if GW is worried about rumors affecting their sales, fake ones do it just as convincingly as real ones.

The problem is their policy of 3 month window and hiding stuff IS affecting sales too I bet. I cant be the only one that just doesnt give a crap about whats coming up, becuase of all the secrecy. I'd rather work on stuff that I know is out then worry about whats coming.

Hope more old fools come to their senses and start giving you their money instead of those Union Jack Blood suckers...

-Tyranid codex officially confirmed for January as well as the codex cover revealed, something that took a lot longer with Space Wolves to confirm
-Plastics of the new Steeds of Slaanesh and Daemon Prince plastic kits
-Loads of new FW information, particularly awesome for Raven Guard, Elysian IG, and Ork players
-New WD model
-40k movie

I mean, yea, if all you cared about was rumors this would seem paltry if not already loads better than the last few GDs, but they're also about the gaming events and Golden Daemon and such.

I think that the biggest reason that EVERYONE is complaining is that Gamesday this year had a definite downturn in expectations from all previous years. I was a Baltimore GD last year and I saw new FW, Dark Elves codex AND minis and all kinds of other new stuff. This year we got a squig cake that was not even done for GW, but was commissioned by the creators of Warhammer online. That is really sad considering that the company is right there in Baltimore and has existed for years before they became nationally known with the TV show. The GD UK had more info on release stuff for both FW and GW and even that was lackluster. The seminars for both where basically a couple of guys standing up front saying "We are going to release some stuff over the next few years." and "No comment." If they could have been half as informative as they where last year that would have been better than the nothing they gave this year. And last year was pretty lame compared to previous years.

I have never understood the attitude that GW takes with practically everything and it truly does make you wonder how they have maintained the fan base that they have considering how they treat the people that buy their products. I cannot think of any other company that treats customers the way GW does and still exists.

The Orks are the pinnacle of creation. For them, the great struggle is won. They have evolved a society which knows no stress or angst. Who are we to judge them? We Eldar who have failed, or the Humans, on the road to ruin in their turn? And why? Because we sought answers to questions that an Ork wouldn't even bother to ask! We see a culture that is strong and despise it as crude.
