While it is true GW are planning plastic Regiments, and that they are a LONG ways off, it can be dangerous reading things into trainee test sculpts. What's interesting (or not) is that Tallarn were not one of the Regments specifically named when Jervis talked of doing plastic Regiments for Guard.

I think the current GW method has a lot of problems, one of the major one is them deciding that since they can't show off new stuff in the cases, they'll put a bunch of test sculpts there. This leads to disappointed fans, endless false rumors and the like. Just recall how many times we had to quash the "look, new DE haemonculi!" rumor

And if GW is worried about rumors affecting their sales, fake ones do it just as convincingly as real ones.

Also, I quite like the !Squat.

The supply does not get to make the demands.

That is true... but one could read in to that as... if you're already redoing them, why mention "planning" to redo them when you've planned and moved along? Or Tallarn could have slipped his mind. Or he omitted them because they are being done and due to the 3 month window GW loves so much these days, he purposefully omitted. I'm not saying that this is the case but its all possibilities.

I'm not saying GW is rational, but if they were... their logical choice for plastic regiments would next be Tallarn and Vallhallans since both have special characters; unlike mordians/praetorians, steel legions, etc.

GW have "always" had test sculpts and miscellaneous greens in their Design Studio display cabinets, particularly at events in the UK. It is quite literally a showcase of what they do at the Studio. The problem is people (on the internet) can't seem to recognise them as test sculpts. There's usually a big card with the sculptor's name right next to the models which sometimes gets cropped in photos or people see test sculpts in isolation without any explanation... like on BOLS. People have to stop and think and not just take things at face value.

I think that's a liiiittle bit too much reading things into it that aren't there. I mean, fair enough points all, but just a bit of a long bow personally.

Are they seriously issueing a squat with WD subscriptions, or is this a joke? Either way, it's pretty funny.

Yes, the new White Dwarf subscription model of the White Dwarf character, Grombrindal, is sculpted as a 40K adeptus-type tech dwarf and long ago those were indeed part of the Squat model range.

I agree it reads into it a bit much... but it does beg the question why they were omited if they have a special character that puts them more to the forefront. I think if GW had less interest in Tallarn than other regiments we would have seen Alraheim replaced with say Gaunt for Tanith.

Gorkamorka re-release? Is that a joke? I didn't think they'd ever seriously remake that game. I'd love it if they did, and the minis would probably be incredible if Space Hulk is any indication, but it seems doubtful... Unless the IP and copyright of Gorkamorka is in danger soon...

I don't think it would should be all that difficult to put together new plastic guard armies. All they gotta do is an infantry box, command box and 1 sprue for heavy weapon gunners and use the same old weapon sprue as cadians and catachans. they could even do metals for the command if they wanna. And maybe toss in 1-2 metal tank commanders too.

They could even get away with mordians or steel legion using cadian chest & legs with just a different arm/gun/head sprue

Trumpeter make LAV wheel upgrade kits.

Unfortunately it is £1 a wheel.

$2 per wheel is what it worked out to buying a LAV for the "face" detail. The problem is that RL wheels are too narrow for a good look, whereas the GW wheels look chunkier. Depends on the price & bitz I guess.

I find it funny how much faith people put in a conversation with Jervis when just last month he boldly lied to people faces when he said the "secret" coming out in 2 weeks was not going to be Space Hulk. There is much he can not say so dont put much faith in anything he or the company voices!!

I do what the voices in my wifes head say...

I was standing next to a guy that was discussing the LAV in some detail. Unfortunately I'm not a 40k player and have no real interest, Only things I vaguely remember overhearing were mentions of some sort of plasma weapon for a turret option. Possibly tracks as well?

Only things I learned from FW at games day were that the rumour that they could be making armies for warhammer races/ empires that don't currently have them is a real possibility. The GW developers were unusually silent on Chaos Dwarfs, considering last year all I got was a 'we'll do them eventually' answer as standard...

Also that Mark Bedford had some sketches of a rather bland nurgle herald (fantasy), but didn't say when it would be done.

Looks like a Dwarf in a flight suit, so no, I would say they were honest about not being able to do Squats right. I wish they would try though, I would collect a decent looking "Squat Retcon" army. I hope the Goblin is a separate bit too, at least I have a shot at that happening.

Leggy, you have to be a current subscriber or get a subscription, then you have the privilege to buy one starting November 1st. It is not free unless they changed their policy again.

I had some Squats from the Rogue Trader days, plastics and metal Chaos Squats. They were fun, but trust me, you're not missing that much and there are plenty of other cooler models available to collect. I sold my unused Squats years ago to a friend and the painted ones went a few years ago at the early GW in-store flea markets for customers (Bizarre Bazaar).

-Tyranid codex officially confirmed for January as well as the codex cover revealed, something that took a lot longer with Space Wolves to confirm
-Plastics of the new Steeds of Slaanesh and Daemon Prince plastic kits
-Loads of new FW information, particularly awesome for Raven Guard, Elysian IG, and Ork players
-New WD model
-40k movie

I mean, yea, if all you cared about was rumors this would seem paltry if not already loads better than the last few GDs, but they're also about the gaming events and Golden Daemon and such.

Versteckt in den Schatten deines Geistes.

Little bit of a repost here, but it's very apropos:

Wouldn't it just be easier for GW to preview their own books and upcoming releases rather than hiding them awa all the time?

Maybe they could do it at some big once-a-year event like a games... day or something. I dunno. You come up with a good name. But at these 'Games Days' they could have the whole new range on display, painted perfectly, to show off what the new kits could do - maybe even run demo games with the new Army Books/Codices, offer advanced release kits as prizes, that sort've thing. They could use theses 'Games Days' to have Q&A's with the writers of their books, giving us an incite into the design process and why certain decisions could be made, and even brief looks into the future of the rules with what great new stuff they've got coming up for us. They could show off upcoming models and collector's pieces at these 'Games Days' as well, and give all the attendees something to go home and tell their friends about, so everyone gets all buzzed about the upcoming releases.

I think I might write to GW about this 'Games Day' idea and... oh wait...

Crap.

Well,
we can hope that the feedback from the Gamesday will be taken on,

That's a major event for them,
they really should take note of the new direction and whether people enjoyed it more or less.

We can only hope.
