Nice to see the Imperium will finally get its first wheeled vehicle. Looks like the Elysian divergent aesthetic will continue, which is just as well.

The supply does not get to make the demands.

The FAV will be getting a series of different turrets, and there is a 4 wheel one in the works with a gunner as well.
plus a possibility of a drop pallet for it.
Also, Ork Buggies/Wartracks/Skorchas on the horizon.
And in case anyone asks, the Mini Falcon is a broken Scorpion turret.

If the thought of something makes me giggle for longer than 15 seconds, I am to assume that I am not allowed to do it.

The Elysian FAV looks like a 10-wheel chassis, and I'd be interested to buy it just for the wheels to make conversions from.

How disappointing. The most exciting thing to come from the GDUK, supposedly the biggest and best of them all, is a freaking codex cover and an AFV model from FW.

Based on my own experience and all the reports online from Games Day events all over the world, Games Day 2009 as a whole was a huge disappointment compared to virtually any and all previous Games Day events. The philosophy, budget and presentation of Games Day 2009 was just not up to the usual standards of even the most modest earlier Games Day events. Let's hope the reassurances I've had from GW HQ staff that next year will be different turn out to be true.

I am freaking LOVING the Elysian FAV. I've been saving and planning out an Elysian army for awhile, and frankly...this is going to push me even more towards an ISA themed Elysian army.

Stormtroopers/Grenadiers mounted in Valkyries with some Veterans and Guardsmen mounted in FAVs being escorted by top cover?

Yes please.

yeah,
People expect too much and GW is damned either way...

If they give us release info in advance and save very little for Gamesday
the interwebs crys "worst GD ever!!1!"

Also if they try to keep secrets and make Gamesday big with news:
interwebs says "stop treating us like children and let us know what's on the horizon, we all have armies to planz"

Panic...

Don't be so wilfully ignorant Panic.

GW's secrecy has gone way beyond crazy with this latest GDUK.

Their 40K seminar was all about Space Wolves, they wouldn't tell anyone if they were going to release the Seekers/Daemon prince, and they basically didn't answer any questions.

There was nothing on their next release (Skaven) at all and their model cabinets were filled with test-sculpts and one-offs that will never be released. The biggest 'new' info was the confirmation of Tyranids next year.

Why not have Skaven on display? All the new models, ready to go, the designer there to answer questions on the design process? Why not get people hyped about the new release at your single biggest event of the year?

Why not sell the Space Wolf Codex at your single biggest event of the year? Because someone might upload as a PDF after the show? Why not put up a giant neon sign that says "We don't trust our customers!".

Can you imagine if everyone rocked up to E3 and all the publishers had games you knew about ready to play, but wouldn't tell you about upcoming games? Or a car show that only had in-production models because all the new ones were over 3 months away? It wouldn't work.

Well neither does this.

Exactly what info have they given us in advance that supposedly "ruined" the Games Days this year? They haven't shown us ANTYHING before the Games Days, or during them. We have no info, that's the whole fething problem!

Also if they try to keep secrets and make Gamesday big with news:
interwebs says "stop treating us like children and let us know what's on the horizon, we all have armies to planz"

What big news? Is a codex cover "big news" to you? No one knows anything about the book, or what new models are coming with it. That's not "big news".

And speaking of the seekers and DP, I heard they actually took the models away early on because people were taking pics and asking questions, right? Sounds pretty fething stupid to me, why bring them out at all then? They know this is exactly what people pay to see and then they play keep away like a bunch of immature fething pricks.

Let's hope the reassurances I've had from GW HQ staff that next year will be different turn out to be true.

They won't be if they keep up with this nonsensical no-information campaign.

How much LOTR stuff was there? I don't play it, but I'm wondering if they are letting it fall by the wayside or are holding on to that elusive hope that there will be Hobbit movies made in the near future.

I've been to two GDs in my life, and from what I've heard this years circuit was really poor compared to previous years. I can't believe they weren't selling bitz.

You all saw the new WD subscribers mini eh ?

..that'll come in handy eh ?

Picked up some info, ALL the staff were very guarded and cagey.

Spoke to Mr. Cruddace about the Guard codex, asked him about squad Serg. weapons, FAQS, and a few bits and bobs.

Then had a long chat with Matt Ward about playtesting, space marine codex, FAQs and all manner of stuff.

ALL the design studio guys were very pleasant and easy to chat to, i really got the impression they would love to talk about everything they are/plan to work on but their management says NOPE to that.

..so..Telion does not grant stealth to the rest of the unit and Vulkan's master crafting doesn't apply to allies/etc. I beseeched him to add these to the FAQ..guess we'll see. They have a very odd view of FAQs and errata, for example he viewed the Telion granting the ability to the squad and similar as deliberate misreading of the rules and, apparently, they don't feel this is in their remit to "fix".

Extraordinary. I think I, and the gents stood next to me ear wigging, were genuinely struck dumb at that/some of the responses.

more thoughts and things later.

Well...along the lines of :

In the GW/40k setting, Sergs./squad leaders typically ( in the Imperium at least) have different weapon payloads/configurations, this is viewed as part of the "vision" of the setting, at least with regards to the Imperium.

...and....Robin had a long chat with....people.....at GW..and the majority of the metal/special serg models aren't modelled with lasguns....so..the rest is history.

Long story short : suits and accountants said so.

Robin is sound though, very interesting and enthusiastic to speak to.

Yeah, gotta say, that makes very little sense. I mean, they've not released many ork nobs with shootas either, but they put the option in the codex anyway.

The corporate culture at GW is fascinating.

I think its ashame that the most exciting stuff to come out of GDUK was from FW. Just going to show they're more in touch with rule of cool and know how to excite us.

I didn't see it before here, but someone on warseer snapped a picture of the Index for IA:8. Based on the index someone snapped a shot of we have quite a bit in the book... http://www.warseer.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3986518&postcount=59

Elysian ATV, Heavy Lift Valkyrie, and an updated list.
Raven Guard... variant Land Speeders, Storm Eagle Drop Ship, and somethings for scouts... oh and a special character, my bet is a scout company captian.
Orks... Goffs, Evil Sunz, and Deathskullz all seem to be represented... possibility for full lists?

Your optimism is misplaced. Not only are they test sculpts, but there is no way they would be released in plastic anyway as GW don't produce plastics from 1:1 greens. All GW plastics these days are done via direct CAD or three-up sculpting.

I think the reason to hold out hope is that GW... I mean Jervis has voiced interest in producing for plastic guard regiments... though its a ways off. I think these are more of a prelude to that sentiment. Maybe the way these test sculpts turned out is why they're considering revisiting the other regiments.
