Hello Everyone! I have decide to try and build a smalll Chaos Space Marine Army. I have one problem though... I dont know which chapter/type to do! What do you guys think? Comments and inspirational pictures would be very helpful, thanks guys!

Well plagues are good for holding objectives. Berzerkers are good for tearing enemies apart. Slaanesh also assaulty goodness. 1k sons are good at taking out power armor. Undivided is good for all round.

Are you thinking general legion/god or what? Because if so go for Tzeentch for the challenge are rarity of making such an army...

But yeah, in terms of making a general chapter, as skyth said do basically what you want...

Black legion keeps you options open, and lets you use pretty much whatever you want whilst still keeping the army quite fluffy

@ just dave heck yeah they are. I have won two and lost two with them and the two i lost were really close games considering i was outnumbered 2 to 1. Games were against Mephiston Blood Angels and the guy riding a wolf, Njal, and Lukas.

I haven't read the CSM codex so I don't know how different can the armies be, but thinking in a fluffy way, I would do Black Legion for a standard army, or World Eaters for loads of berzerkers.

This idea seems fun to me.

Sons of Malice has always popped out at me in the CSM codex and I would LOVE to see an entire army painted well with that scheme... its also open for you to make lots of fluffy goodness... I was going to do the scheme myself but decided to use them as Soul Drinkers instead! If you havent seen the scheme its a quarted black and white IIRC... Check it out it the codex if you got it on hand!

-World Eaters - Followers of Khorne - Blood frenzy, close combat warriors - Red and Gold

-Death Guard - Followers of Nurgle - Slow, sturdy, rotten warriors - Green and Silver

-Thousand Sons - Followers of Tzeentch - Magical souls trapped inside power armour - Light Blue and Gold

-Emperor's Children - Followers of Slaneesh - Drugged up, quick reaction noise marines - Pink and Black

-Alpha Legion - Infiltrators - Blue, Green and Silver

-Word Bearers - Undivided God worshippers, use lots of daemons - Red and Silver

-Iron Warriors - Siege specialists, love tanks - Silver and Yellow

-Night Lords - Terror stealth tactics, love raptors - Dark Blue and Gold

-Black Legion - An alliance of all of the above to work together to destroy the imperium - Black and Gold.

Just a quick summary to give you an idea.

Also, with all due respect, CSMs don't have chapters,I think they're called legions.

Make your own chapter called the "Chaos Space Wolves", make a list with 2 slaaneshi daemon princes, 9 obliterators, and as many plague marines as you can fit in. Paint them space wolf gray.

I always thought that an army of the fallen would be cool to do. I'd shy away from Black legion if you want to make a small army, it's too easy to get a little of this and that and you're army ends up huge. All of the CSM are pretty good though so you can't really go wrong.
