I had to google what the heck you two here carrying on about. You can tell I'm not familiar with UK/AUS/NZ chocolate treats.

I think all the bases look great man. I said it earlier in the thread: I love the Zealots and these bases make them look even more awesome.

Hi Guys. A small incremental update. I haven't really been working on much new stuff, but rather going back over everything that needs GS added (and that is quite a lot). So mostly I have been bulking up legs and creating feet... not so exciting, but certainly necessary.

However I have got Nova into a presentable state (i.e. she stays together most of the itme ). Her head is a little small perhaps, but shes some kind of genetically enhanced mutant psyker, so I'm hoping the paint job pulls it together better. Otherwise I'll have to give her bigger hair (and I ws really proud of her hair as well). She is somewhat more slender than the Scout snipers, so that works properly. The lower legs have been trimmed awaiting GS leg armour and boots.

The only other new thing is a stock pointy Marine to bulk out the second dakkawing squad. Otherwise I've sorted out my 3 Vultures.

Stuff left to do - Lots more GS work; Finish off Nova's legs; Create 2 more Dakkawing marines; ???; Profit.

Actuially, in shocking other news I've actually primered a marine for a test paintjob. I think I needs me some Charadon Granit though so more excuses ahoy

where am I? *looks around* Well i'm...errr...I...I...don't know!

Still a great fan. Its a shame that you can't use the rules for telion for your special lady sniper. How are you gonna play her? just a normal sniper?

ps. the tree looks great.

Thanks guys.

Nova will be the squad sergeant for the Scouts. Nothing too special. Its a pity you can't arm Librarians with sniper rifles

Yay! Epicness has arrived! You should start trading these guys for GMS!

But to trade in GMS I thought you had to paint things

Some more progress, finally. Hit a bit of an inspiration block over the last week or so, however I appear to have come out of it

Bitz have been ordered to try and whomp up a Hellion as an Attack Bike to beef up my Vulture squad. Also forked out for a load of stuff to try and do justice to a Viking in Walker mode

The side-effects of this thought has been a renewed fight to do the last few infantry models that are needed. Ceating a bit by re-posting images of the pointy-marine, but otherwise I've sorted out another marine (who is actually engaging, rather than posing ) and, by popular request, a Dark Templar to lead my Zealot squad. Still need to sort out the scythe blades, but its getting there.

OH-I Wanna get out of here

As both the founder and biggest customer (I dont think the 2nd part is true actually) of the GMS, I'm calling dibs if you ever do decide to jump in.

You mean the difference between the Zealot and the DT? Well the weapons are different, as are the ams in general and the head. I think the knife is new as well.

Heh. I'll keep the dibs in mind

No cookies without specifics Weapon is fair enough. The head is the same as the previous Zealots and I do have one other knife-carrying goon (its fixed on one of the 3 leg-types in each Stealthsuit box).

This also gives me opportunity to post my final normal Marine. I guess I've always been bothered by the depiction of overweight lumbering in Terminator models. They are powered which means the wearers should have pretty much the same range of motion as a normal person, just with massively boosted strength and survivability (with the possible exception of being able to scratch ones own armpit). Its even referenced in Galaxy in Flames that Abbaddon can pilot his suit to almost the same dexterity and agiity as a normal marine. Hence I've been trying to give my Marines a bit of this flavour. The main one is obviously Jim sprinting about and the Marauder leaping nimbly.. kinda. So I followed this idea to make this last marine that bit more flexible than normally depicted, ably assisted by the ever-useful open hands from the GKT kit:

OH-I Wanna get out of here

My only guess is the arms (not sure where they are from on the DT) and hand held weapon vs the zealot arm blades. Missing the hip plates as well.

I guess I'm being a bit unfair in that the DT hand is a bit indistinct. The arms are stealthsuit arms with the "hand" bits trimmed down a bit and replaced with GKT gauntlets. But seeing as Tau (and by extension my Protoss) only have 4 fingers some trimming was required

I'm just off to check out DTs a bit more to see if he needs pads and waist plates.

So some more bits arrived

Currently gingerly dry-fitting random Dreadnought bits in a semi-succesful way to re-create this baby:

With some success I feel. I think I need to do something about the front armour a bit to better match the Viking forward fins. Probably just a simple straightening.

This will be a second Dreadnought, probably with 2x TLAC to match the in-game assault mode. The shoulder mounted missile launchers will be fitted, but ineffective in-game (unless I want to run an AC/ML or TLAC/ML dread, of course )

Holy crap! Is the Viking going to transform into a Stormraven?

Would love to see the Siege Tank going into siege mode

Heh, its hard enough to get the thing into Assault mode without having to transform it as well Similarly with the ST, static is the best way!

Soime more progress on the Viking, as well as some boring GS filling work. The viking stuff is much more interesting though so you only get pics of that

I'm planning to leave some of the gaps to represent transformation space.

Maybe make a separate model for the alternate mode of the Viking? That would be cool.

Loving the models, especially that Goliath and Siege Tank. Keep up the good work.

Dude, I think you've got an army- possibly THE craziest army (and I mean this in the most epic way possible) I've ever seen. Now get to painting, play in some tournaments, and get yourself published in the magazines- this army is too good just to conceal on Dakka!

Personally i prefer your vehicles to the infantry but imaginative kitbashing all round. Oh btw, your name 'flinty' is it inspired by an episode of Seinfeld? More specificaly Kramer's pronouniciation of the word?

@Perkustin - The infantry has been more frustrating to build, but it has pushed my GS skills forward quite a bit I think. Except for the sige tank the vehicle construction has been quite relaxing by comparison Also I have never watched Seinfeld. Flint is my surname

Ta

Cross posted from the P&M forum where I'm showing off

So here we have my Viking in assault mode:

Here is a couple of additional pics of it supporting the existing Goliath. Both count as Dreadnoughts. The goliath has TLAC and ML, while the Viking can either be true to the SC2 vision of having 2 twin linked autocannon representing its RFACs (in the game it only uses missiles when its in aircraft mode and only RFACs when in assault mode), or could be assault cannon/ML to match what its actually shown with.

There are some bits and pieces of detailing left to do on the cannon arms and some minor filling needed, but its pretty much there and I am extremely happy with it, considering the extreme fiddling that was needed to make the thing fit together! Internet cookies to anyone who can name all the bits

+1 for flight-mode counts-as Stormraven?

Made in gb
Leader of the Sept

Heh. A flight mode viking wouldn't work that well as a stormraven. Not enough guns for a start and no transport capacity. An armed Dropship is more apt for a stormraven (which I could probably do given a Stormraven and a Valkyrie, however thats 2x £60 models that I can't quite justify yet).
