SSSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOOOOO cool! Defiantly want to see more. I think Raynor's gun should look different. Maybe a scope or a longer bit, like part of a battlesuit railgun.

Don't know much about SC, but I love these guys!

Only suggestion I would make is to modify the calfs and knee pads a little bit to differentiate them more from terminators. From the pics I've seen, the SC marine armor mimics the shape of the lower leg, but that might require more filing than you'd want to do. Even if you don't change it, they still look bad ace!

Fair Warning: I've gone on a non-mechanicus armament kick with my IG, so I may have to steal that gun design for my stormtroopers

If you have a shotgun and a roll of duct tape, you can solve any problem

Great job on these; they're coming together quite well!

Ooh.. the personalization of Raynor's gun makes sense. When I work out exactly which one he gets I may well pick this up

@Krillduken - I will be filing off the more obvious Imperial iconography from the legs. I might end up modifying the calves a bit more, but It may depend on how good the feet end up looking Warning is observed, however the gun is pretty huge for a normal infantry model

And more with the GS. Tried adding chest lights to the next torso and celaned up the previous one a bit. The chest lights are a pretty important bit of the aesthetic, but I'm still not sure if I like them or not. Are they too big? Too rounded? Too square? Any ideas? Should I extend the remaining torsos, or leave them pretty flat with recessed lights as they currently are?

Also worked a bit more on Mr Raynor's legs and hands.

Thanks guys

Some more sculpting occurred this weekend. This woud be my first attempt at sculpting hands and feet, but I'm pretty happy how its going so far. Fiddly and time consuming, but ultimately rewarding. The most annoying bit is waiting for the stuff to harden so you can do the next bit without destroying previous work

The 3 sets of legs I have done so far have been GSed up and are pretty much finished. Might need a bit more smoothing here and there. Raynor's torso needs the top bulked up around the vents and one more torso needs its chest lights sorted out before I whomp up the last one. I'm currently preferring the minimalist lights on Raynor compared to the much bulkier ones I did just prior. Each suit is likely to be a bit different though

Curently the squad is missing Tychus's torso, 2 sets of legs and 3 arms. Then on to the specialists (Firebat, Marauder and Medic).

Anyway, on with the show! Mocked up 4 of the final 5 models that will be my counts-as Ogryn squad.

Mr Marshall Jim Raynor in all of his runny glory I took Whalemusic's advice and differentiated Raynor's gun a bit more with an additional sight.

A random guy surveying his next move. Nuked background is optional... (feet are pretty blocky and simple, but I think they match the Terran armour concept reasonably well.

Another random shooty guy.

And then a mock up of my version of Tychus Findlay. The final version will ahve an open visor, but I wanted to check that the arms and general torso layout worked with the minigun. Pretty happy so far

All of them are pretty awesome...

One thing to make Tychus perfect would be to add some more details to the drum magazine!

Very cool, I agree with Yggie that more texturing would really set these apart though, take them from Amazing to Epic! Other than that, I think Tychus' drum magazine may be a touch overly large, but ill reserve that until I see how you finish it up!

Tychus needs a cigar, end of.
Possibly this head, with some slight modification

@Yggdrasil & MajorTom - Details would be good, thanks for the idea. I guess random bits of wiring and imperial eagles would fit the best. I'll see what I've got kicking about. The drum is deliberately over-large, partly to match Stacrafts cartoony infantry style and partly to give 'ol Tychus enough bullets for everyone If you're wearing power armour, why be satisfied with small magazines

@Winnertakesall - Oh there will be a cigar I have a bunch of different heads kicking about that I will play with when the time comes. Now the crazy man in me wants to use fibre optics for the glowing, however the lazy git in me will probably settle for OSL instead.

(also thanks, Cain)

And here we have Mr Tychus Findlay!

I'm hoping that the shadowing caused by the visor will mostly hide the missing ear and shaved back forehead (everything inside the visor will be painted as black as possible)

Cigar will be added in due course and the forthcoming additional neck ring and chest lights will hide the neck join somewhat. In fact there won't be much of 'ol Tychus visible in the end

Looks nice, but the "inner" visor seems a bit small, as if when shut, it wouldn't seal tight... Or is it the picture?

Its partly the picture, but you may be right. I was thinking of extending the visor sides a little bit more with GS, at least to close it back to the outer visor. Tychus is hard... he doesn't need to see where he's going, and he's got enough bullets not to care where he's shooting

I've sadly never played starcraft (i think that bandwagon sailed long ago for me) however i can appreciate what looks a fantastic model. It is truly amazing some of the conversions people make shown here on Dakka.

You know, the more you do these the more I like them.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

@emperor bacon - All in all they're probably not that cheap, however the terminators were a present so I feel totally justified in buying random additional bits for the conversions

@winnertakesall - Thats the idea, if my painting can keep up. Never done freehand actual art before

@mwnciboo - Its never too late to jump on the Starcraft bandwagon... Hell the first game managed to remain as a standard international tournament game for about 10 years before the sequel came along

@Empchild - The more I do, the more I need to steal others' artistic vision to convert into miniature form

Anyway... for tonight I'll probably do some more work on the hands and maybe fiddle with another set of legs (or perform major surgery as its known normally).

Nice work man. You really captured the feel of the terran marines. One suggestion I would make for the search lights is the bore them out a little so they're angled like a counter sunk screw hole.. hmm.. uhmm like this:

Or drill it deeper and put half a BB pellet in there so it has a round surface you can GS smaller over it maybe?

Some minor tweaks to the Tychus model. I found a random spare Baneblade shell and trimmed it down as a new ammo hopper on the minigun. Much happier with the look of it now. Additionally Mr Tychus now has his cigar, the collar armour has been bulked up and the visor has been extended a little at the edges.

Next steps are to finish GSing up his hand and chest lights and to add the top turbines and glacis plates. Then I desperately need to get around to fiddling with more legs

I also picked up some guitar wire to fiddle with. Would it be worth having an armoured power cable running from the armour to the minigun? Thoughts on a postcard to the usual address
