Heh. My chosen method for terminator delivery is actually the Ravenwing bikes using their funky teleport homer and scout move combo to go with the Deathwing Deployment rule. If I were to go down the route of a physical delivery device it would probably be a stormraven (you can fit termies in that can't you?) modified into a Medevac by mating it with a Valkyrie. However that particular project would require 2 £60 models, so I think it gets put on the back burner untill I'm feeling bored and/or rich one day

Holy Black Baby Jeebus! After a week or so of reasonably hardcore footling I'm happy to announce that the Arclite class Vindicator Siege Tank is pretty much done! (Please note that there will only ever be one of these things... ever )

First up some middle WIPs just after I'd fitted the first 4 track units:

And then some I took last night when it was mostly done, but missing GE under the rear deck and smoke launchers:

And then the final lot from tonight when most of the GS work is done and the smoke launchers are in place:

I'm quite chuffed how the rear hatch came out in the end. I trimmed the edging off the Rhino inner side door and mounted it under a blank plasticard deck. In order to raise it above the messy remains of the Slingshot rear turret mount I had to use a couple of bits of sprue that I'm hiding with the GS. The vents are a couple of etched brass storm drain covers I had kicking about.

Stuff still to do on this baby - Finish off the GS filling, attach the turret securely, ???, profit

I've fiddled about with the main armament a bit more to try and fill in the central reserve between the barrels and each time I try I come to the conclusion that adding anything in there would mess it up and obscure more of the nice turret detail, so I'll probably give that up and be satisfied with an Arclite class, rather than the newer Crucio class

Next I think its back to the Vultures to whomp up the last bike for the squad and then there is more infantry to do... still plenty to be getting on with

I'm really at a loss for words. I saw your first WIP marine just after you started the thread and hadn't been back until today . Really great work on the conversions, btw. It takes alot of guts to start hacking up $50 GW sets. Keep it up! Subscribed!

Not bad, not bad indeed. I must admit, I've never seen such a configuration of tracks, but it does not look too awkward. Looking forward to more.

Thanks guys!

@Fattimus - There will be no quitting here! (unless I get reallybored or something shiny wanders my way or something )

@Rawson - Less guts, more disposable income enough to buy more stuff if I really mess it up

@Marcin - Not my idea, really, and rather awkward to acheive, but I have to be true to my muse after all

Just about to start fiddling with Vulture #3. More later, perhaps.

Wounded Zealot is... wounded

I picked up a neat battery powered soldering iron for doing the Medic's LED and it is tidy and controllable enough to do some pretty neat battle damage (in my view, obviously).

I've also added some additional thigh plates to all of the zealots to hide the transition between the Marine torso and Stealthsuit legs, Currently pondering what kind of shoulder pad should be applied. Go vote!

@AsherieanCommand - Ponderings along this line occur occasionally. However I definately need more marines, while my Zealot squad is pretty much done

@Whalemusic - *snigger*

@Seanzor - Tactical Nuclear Weapon (1500pts) after the enemy has set up their army, roll a D6. On a roll of a 1+ all of the enemy force is destroyed, including all reserves. Both sides lose immediately.

@Holycrusade - I always wondered how that was spelled.

The last thing that I finished off last night was a better set of tanks for my Firebat. The Guard flamer tanks just weren;t doing it for me. They looked like they had less capacity that the tubes leading to the falmers themselves, which was a bit foolish. So after carefully rounding off one end of a bit of plastic tube with GS I made my first press mould to get a consistent result on the other ends. I may in future use this for other types of fuel tanks or canisters for scenery, 'cos I don't think I need any more Firebats

The tanks also help bulk out what is supposed to be a heavier version of the Terran Marine armour.

Next today will be to finish off my 3rd Vulture. Unless I get distracted by basing my Zealots or coming up with more Marines

I've gone for a double visor for the Marines to echo the SC2 box art. For the Marauder and Firebat both visors are supposed to be fully closed and locked against the heavier chest armour. So basically I've trimmed down a Marine shoulder pad and used that It fits against the Terminator helmet ring thing quite nicely. The lower portion of the pad is covered by the chest armour.

This stuff is awesome. Watching the transformation has been enlightening (at least for one as dumb in the ways of conversion as myself).
Like everyone else following it, I can't wait to see the finished product.

Went a bit quiet in the Blog as I sorted out details on the P&M forum. My Zealots are now fully sorted out model wise. I've added shoulder pads based on trimmed plastic tube with details taken from the Stealthsuit pads. The Stealth pads on their own really didn't do anything for me, but the new curvy ones at least cover the GS shoulder joint

Squad sarge is now done!

The whole squad has also had additional thigh plates cut from plastic tube to cover the torso-leg joint and poor little wounded zealot has been wounded! (and then some)

For the whole Terran Deathwing force I've decided to go for a kind of urban/rural transition theme in the bases. This started with my Goliath transitioning from road to pavement (ok so that one is more urban than rural). Taking this forward I've pretty much sorted out my Zealot basing. These guys needed a lot more bulk on their base to make up for the fact that they are slightly smaller models than the Marines, and yet both are supposed to be Terminators. Above you can see the Sarge using a roadside crash barrier as a springboard.

And so we have, in the grimdark darkly grim future there are only Jersey barriers

Also more toward the rural transitiony type theme is a tree stump and what will eventually be a felled tree over-running road markings.

I'm working on a similar thing for Jim Raynor, who will be starting a short sprint across a road with a roadside drainage acces cover. For my Vultures I was thinking more broken road with visible pipes and stuff, but their bases are a bit further down the line.

... Holy . There should be a limit to how much awesome to include in each thread. This one has clearly surpassed that limit several times over.

That siege tank is awesome! I don't know how much you play the game to be able to come up with stuff like this, but I like how you look and then simply do. Wicked stuff.

How much more to build, and when do we get to see them painted? (or the next project to stave off painting?)

Always awesome, and always a good read.

All your work is stunning.
Though it probably won't come out nearly as good as yours, I think I make borrow your idea of using the 'marines' as Ogryn, if I have your permission

The siege tank looked so stupid to begin with and just a few pictures later it's ACE! Good work. It's fun to see the SC universe being turned into 28mm models.

@HF Izanagi - You're too kind I have played both starcraft games probably a little too often for comfort. Never got into the land of ever-repeating multiplayer games, but I certainly replayed the single player campaign numerous times. Great fun What has surprised me a little bit is the amount of GW stuff that is already pretty similar to SC2 stuff. The main bit of sculpting I've been doing are feet and hands. Everything else is just chopping, trimming and endless rounds of dry-fitting I need to sort out a few more marines and the force will be pretty much done. 1500 points is a nice round number to stop at, however I may be tempted back to do a second dread based on a Viking and maybe a Medevac.

@Lucifer - Umm.. not sure, ask me another one Feel free to steal away, just promise to post pics

@Baiyuan - The Siege Tank has been the hardest thing to bring together in a reasonable way. Still some bits I think could be done better, but I don't have infinite patience

I will be honest, at first, I did not liked your zealots. The problem that I had visualy was the size of the model. The scale of the original zealot is taller than the marine. After seeing the transition to that last model you made with the sholder pads, there has been a change of heart. Even not to scale, they look nice and you have done a nice job in bitz mixup.

It would be insane seeing DarkTemplar sargents or HQ, new and old school ones (with the 1 giant psy blade and the double headed scyth)
did somebody say, Zeratul??

just one question, are the zealots gunna be used for assault terminators?

here is one other idea, a wirlwind "immortal" using defiler's pieces! ^^

Thanks guys.

@OftheZ - The scale in SC2 is somewhat mutable at the best of times, however the Zealots are a tad undersized to count as Assault Terminators without me taking outrageous liberties However this is my army and there will be no PA guys anyway, so who's gonna notice? I'm hoping that the basing below will help bring them up to scratch size-wise!

Surely an Immortal would need to be even more of a Dreadnought than my Goliath They actually are Protoss implanted into a robotic shell! An Ironclad, perhaps, with TL lascannon?

I think I will end up doing a Dark Templar, but not this weekend. Might get planned though

Tonights work has been slightly impacted by alcohol and the Time Travellers Wife (which is a bit gushy and doesn't have enough Power Armour for someone travelling back and forth through time ). However I have finished the basing on my Zealots now (barring the paint, obviously).

So does this actually look tree-trunk-like or am I deluding myself? In my happy brain land its supposed to be a tree thats been dropped over a road as part of an ambush (road markings to be added in paint), but is being used for a momentary pose by a passing Zealot

And then there is the tree stump (forever will he be called Stumpy!)

And the Jersey Barrier that has made such a mess of the bike:
