No.

I want sharp sculpted armour.

I don't want the WE to look like it's wearing a bloody leotard.

You are aware that by the rules, Witch Elves don't wear any armor, right?

Pre-orders are up.

First 25 Command boxes get a discount, and first 100 regular, IIRC. Ordered a box of each came to ~ £36.

The new nine are as good if not better than the first proper image we had.

I dunno. The latter looks like it's delivering a decapitation to a defeated enemy. Typical huge overswing you see in movie swordfighting, but not really awkward.

The former I agree with.

Maybe the rear spike on the hand guard is actually part of her helmet then. If not, she's in danger of slitting her own throat as she brings the sword down.

And the fact that their tits are hanging out is just hilariously bad. Totally unnecessary detail that does nothing except draw attention away from the rest of the (otherwise great) model.

Raging Heroes wrote:We are proud to announce that our 10 Blood Vestals are now available for pre-order!

Limited Introductory Offer
Don't miss out on our special low launch price reserved for the first 100 Blood Vestals boxes and the first 25 Command Group boxes.

The Command Group box contains 1 Heroine, 1 Musician and 1 Standard Bearer as well as 2 additional Warriors.

The Blood Vestals box contains 5 more different Warriors.

Together, the Blood Vestals + Command Group total up 10 different characters.
They are 28mm scale and an excellent fit with most major Fantasy games.
Each Blood Vestal is a one-part metal cast.

Thank you for your feedback!
We not only worked non-stop this entire week to finalize our Blood Vestals and have them available for pre-order this weekend, but we also spent much time reading all your comments on our blog and on other forums, and have taken them to heart. Several topics were recurrent, so we've specifically addressed them below.

Proportions and scale
After your massive feedback asking for 28-30mm scale minis, we have scaled our Vestals accordingly.
Many were also concerned about proportions and the head size, and we worked hard on this as well to get the best possible balance between true scale and heroic proportions so that the minis can make a good fit with the minis you already own, and we are pretty happy with what we've achieved on this.

We feel they will now fit extremely well with the industry's Fantasy games.

Variety
Based on some of your comments, we have carefully selected which Vestals would go into the command Group, and which would be in the Troops box.

We chose the more dynamic poses for the Troops.
You'll also notice that several of the characters in the Troops box have their arms and weapons away from their body. This gives you the option of slightly bending them or even replace weapons to create new poses.
And three of the five Vestals have a pose that is more of a profile view. This allows you to have them looking to the right, the left, or straight ahead, depending how you position them on their base.

As for the two soldiers in the Command Group, they have more hieratic, still poses that we felt worked well to add charisma to the Command Group.

Uncovered breasts
We were completely taken by surprise by the strong reactions this topic generated, particularly since major industry players have always and continue to produce bare-chested ladies (such as GW harpies played in Dark Elf armies).

Nevertheless, we studied several options to try and keep everyone happy. The only option that could have worked for us was to produce optional armoured caps to glue on the breasts, but then, we realized that they would have been about 1,5mm wide and pretty much unworkable. A tiny bit of greenstuff will do a much better job.

Science-Fiction
It is now certain that we will produce a science-fiction version of this unit. We will soon post an online questionnaire on our blog to get a more precise feedback in terms of equipment and accessories for them.
If you wish to know more about this, sign up for our newsletter, friend us on Facebook (Asharah Raging), or join our Facebook fan page.

They're more expensive than GW's, even with the discount. That's about twice as expensive as I'm willing to pay for rank and file.

Yeees...it failed the Facebook test to be honest. While the wife will love these, I don't want to be share them to my boss or teenage nieces. I'm really hoping the Sci-Fi ones get bras. Snipping is going to require some careful filing to avoid spoiling the model. The 'fantasy' crowd got their way with the Witch Elves. For Druchii, this is acceptable, I acknowledge that. Even GW still has semi-nude models in their line. But please let the Wyches cover up a tad more. A sculpted corset could look way sexier than out right exposure. I apologise if I am being terribly English about this but that's how I feel.

As to the cost.

From the UK:

One of each RH = £30.02 ( £35.41 inc P&P)

One of each GW = £27.80 (free P&P).

Not much more expensive. I think it will depend where you buy from perhaps? I don't know.

Would have ordered more but I want to see the actual models first, not just renders. I also agree that 2nd row, 4th Model does look a tad uncomfortable. Probably whiplash, poor girl.

3rd April 2012

We have now received the masters for the Blood Vestals and their Command Group, and our eyes are bright with joy and excitement.

We can safely say that these particular minis are making us very proud. And apparently, you agree, as we've never had so many pre-orders before, even with Ivanka! (Hurry up, you can still benefit from pre-order pricing!)

And frankly, when you have them in hand, you'll be even more amazed… These ladies are delicate, elegant, finely detailed, a joy to work with…
OK, enough talk, here are several photos of the masters, to help you wait.

By the way, please know that we are already working on the Sci-Fi version.
We expect to soon post a survey to find out what kind of options you'll most be wanting.

By popular demand, we have EXTENDED our special low launch price reserved for an additional 100 Blood Vestals boxes and 25 Command Group boxes.

7th April

We've just received the masters for our Sci-Fi and Fantasy Orcs, and we can truly say that they are VERY big guys!

And great news: these minis will be in RESIN, not metal!!! They are being cast by the same folks that do our Cyberwolves and are currently working on our next batch of Manticores!

(Don't miss out on the pre-order pricing of Orc Warmaster Gormakk in SF or Fantasy , ending soon).

Since it's always difficult to get a good feel for the actual volume of a mini from a photo, we took photos of Orc Warmaster Gormakk in both versions, (SF and Fantasy) next to one of our Blood Vestals. Follow the links for more images.

Fantastic. I'm ordering a boatload of the girls next week when my tax return comes in.

Considering my other Witch Elf option was to buy Finecast ladies with pockmarks that would make Edward James Olmos look like Keira Knightly, I don't mind paying a bit more.

If I still collected (I can't say "played", as I so rarely got any games in with them) Dark Elves, I'd be taking these over the GW Witch Elves any day, even if they did prove more expensive. They are, quite simply, better. While I'm not totally sold on the swords, they're still an improvement on the chunky GW range, and the aesthetics match the latest GW Dark Elf releases considerably better.

Now, as for that Ork Warlord/Warboss... it's certainly big. I mean seriously big. I suppose I had envisaged it as being a little larger than a GW Nob, but boy, that thing is BIG.

The flip flopping on whether their heads are too big or not is over. I have voted with my wallet. One box Blood Vestals and one box Blood Vestal Command purchased...and I don't even play fantasy...anything. Ultimately I really like their poses (even the fantastically awkward ones HBMC) and detail, very awesome looking models. I'm thinking just paint em up, or possibly mod them into Bloodbrides or like a Lelith Honour Guard.

$57.45 USD parcel and post from Europe to the California, US. I'd like to think it's a little more than I'd regularly pay for rank and file troops, but eldar metals/FCs retail at $35 USD a box of five, so it's on par. I don't usually pay retail on one hand, but on the other I really do consider these RagingHeroes figs more of a treat than anything else. Kind of like Forgeworld in that respect, so it's cool. Later on I think I'll order one of the Asharah models, Ivanka, and the SciFi Ork Warlord...I just couldn't bear to do it this weekend.

Anyways I'm anxiously awaiting time to pass and the post to arrive in my office.

THE FUN HAS BEEN DOUBLED!!!

Wow, what a cool diorama! I thought their treekin were quite cool, a shame they didn't really catch on (although awesome if you have them, since they're even more unique).

The orc looks a lot better as a master than a render, too.

Overall, still really looking forward to more releases from these guys, just not the blood vestals (for me).

Mantis Warriors: more bad girls out to get you
posted April 18, 2012
Spoiler:

There's a new scent in the air...
Nobody dares venture outside...
Rumours has it there is danger afoot...
And deadlier than goblins playing with matches...

The Mantis Warriors will be on pre-order shortly, most likely at the end of next week.

There will be 10 different models, 5 for the Troops box and 5 for the Command Group box.
Also, we took to heart your feedback on the Blood Vestals, and have likely found ways to give you more modelling flexibility. More on this later.

Please do share with us your feedback before we're done with the sculpts, which should be by the end of the week.
More images will be coming in the next few days, so stay tuned.

What comes from the woods is not all charming and benevolent...
Deep in the jungle live ferocious female spirits, half human, half animal, who prey on lost male travellers.
Their legs are hoofed and their heads are armed with chitinous blades. They protect their bodies with armoured pieces cut out from the carapace of giant insects, and they slide their hands into giant praying mantises' claws to use as their only weapons.

1. Make the claws sharper and slimmer.

2. Potential for branch-claws instead of insect claws in pack - dryads instead of demonettes.

3. Big foreheads again... hmmm, or maybe that the 'hair' starts too far back perhaps.

4. additional swappable bits needed to allow for either demonic or dryad choices.
