I like the marine gunship the best, it looks the most applicable to 40k's scale. The ork jet is just rediculous as it seems like it'd be able to clear the airspace that the 6x4 board is supposed to represent in no time. The marine gunship evokes a helicopter to me. That being said the giant cannon on the front is absurd looking.
The necron one looks cool but the exposed pilot is weird and I'm always confused about the aesthetic the necrons are trying to portray. This fighter looks very smooth and sleek (tau-ish) whereas I swear I remember the recent wave of necron models looking like insects or something like that.

That is why GW succeeds...they release a product that people dont like, yet they buy it anyways. Does anyone else see the flaw here?
That's what I thought too.
To be fair, a lot of their recent, fairly widely hated kits, such as the Dreadknight and Stormraven seem to have sold well.
For converting purposes only i think.
Dreadknights weapons, legs and arms are great for walkers conversion, and you get a "free" termie armor for "Chaos techies" count as oblits.
As for the Stormravens, once you get or do the same conversion kit as chapter house did, its a pretty decent looking flyer.
At least i know i enjoyed it when i did my Kitbashed Thunderhawk or right now, my Kitbashed Chaos Stormeagle by using a SR and a IG Valk.
Also dunno why people once again hates the SM STromtalon, it looks like a futuristic version of an Apache combat chopper...
Now i do think that the sketch isn't 100% accurate on the sizes, and that the model could be better looking in real.
Well if it doesn't then you all know what to do to make your own,...conversions!!!; yeah...,converting stuffs in a games using minis?, crazy i know right?
Except the Apache looks a million times cooler. I'd love it if we got some helicopter type stuff for guard, I know it isn't 'practical' in the year 40k however what from the table top 'is' practical? I'd definitely buy some Blackhawk type helicopters if they made em for 40k.

All of them look pretty cool to me. But then I again I really like stormravens.
What I am really hoping for is that the flier supplement/rules allows me to play my Tau Barracuda or Tigershark outside of Apoc games.

And it is quite possible that flyer rules will have you straffing the table by picking an entry point and an exit point and drawing a line which you travel upon, etc.
You may indeed move off and on the table every round in some fashion

It could come on in your turn moves x amount on the line and exits along line if it survives opponents turn, etc.
it would be on the table a fair maount but not constantly.
I would expect some sort of new mechanic for flyers
As for buying exspensive models that don't ses a lot of table time: See Apocalypse

That's it, tomorrow I'm gonna call up the stormraven and apologize.
Does GW not understand that the aesthetic REALLY doesn't work for SM? It would be an okay elyisian support craft, but it just... meh.
Also the rules... 130 points, for that? I'd like to point out you priced the vendetta at the same cost and gave it 3 twin linked lascannons, better armor, scout and troop capacity. Way to go GW. Way. To. Go.

No, people will buy nine of them, since they will likely be available in squadrons. Warhammer shouldn't be going this direction (making non-skimmer flying machines common) since the scale of the game doesn't really allow for it.

Well to start off with the Vendetta is not supersonic and does not have the Arial Assault rules which make the Stormtalon better when moving at high speeds. Maybe supersonic is a fantastic rule in 6th; if the leaked rules were even half true the stormtalon will rock.

Well, I do hope that SM sketch turns out to be false. Seems like RoboGear is infringing on whats clearly GWs IP! Thats a no-no!
BTT: Necron flyer as seen in the codex, so the surprise-factor is a wee bit limited. Orc could be interesting, those SM flyers just wont grow on me.
Im a fan of the Thunderhawk and the FW release, but the plastic kits just dont appeal to me very much. Im also unsure why exactly SM need a second flyer, while other armies could use new models and a new codex ... I know, I know ... same old story!!

The stormtalon could look very cool if it were stretched vertically (at least in the sketch). Hopefully its better proportioned when you actually see the model.
As for the ork one, no one is surprised because we've been looking at that model since Epic 40k. Also no one is surprised by how lackluster the leaked stats are. Its xeno afterall.
It have no clue how they're going to make rules that make these flyers feel like jets.
I kind of miss the old Epic 40k rules where you'd set the jets up on a table edge and that would denote their entry point for their strafing/bombing run, and they'd move across the table in that fashion and be gone for a turn after they passed off the board as they refueled/set up for another pass (now, its probably not exactly the rules, its been a looooooooooong time). Its the only thing that really makes sense. Even current rules for 'super sonic' 36 inches is still a skimmer. Its not a jet.

IMHO the Stormtalon looks promising, but then I've always liked that attack helicopter / Terminator HK kinda look.
It seems fairly likely that there'll be a high degree of commonality with the Stormraven; the tail, engines and cockpit section all look similar and I wouldn't be surprised to see the thruster packs and landing gear in there too.
