Is Daemonic possession worth the points on Dedi Rhinos?
I play mostly against Tau so they frequently get Railgunned turn 1 (2 if i play cagey from the start)
Just looking for some opinions really.

All Daemonic Possession is there to do is keep you shooting, despite glancing hits, at the cost of effectiveness per turn. It is a rare thing that AV11 is glanced, as it is just high enough to avoid small arms, yet too low to offer an real protection against anti-tank. Furthermore the Rhino has nothing you'd want to spend 20 more points to shoot.

I'm more concerned with keeping moving tbh.
I have to agree with the rest you said.

If you're more concerned with keeping it moving, buy more of them. Getting target saturation in there is more useful than Extra Armor or Daemonic Possession. Think about your games: how many times were you Stunned? Thats how many times either of those 42-57% price increases would affect your Rhinos.

Not worth the points for rhinos; turning a 35 point vehicle into 55 points. Landraider, Vindicator, Predator, etc., maybe, but Rhinos should stay cheap, IMO. You should be able to shield them with terrain, smoke launchers, landraider escorts, etc. to not need DP much.

I wouldn't bother, you'll almost get another Rhino for the points you spend on it.

I would also agree not to possess or even EA the rhinos, they are cheap and that is their best asset, so keep them that way.
The only upgrade I would consider putting on a rhino would be a Havok launcher, depending on which squads rhino it is, the zerker or other CC unit rhinos will be either cruising, stunned, or dead in which case they aren't shooting, while a rhino you buy for a squad hanging back could easily make up the 15 points a havok launcher costs hitting clusters or enemies.
The units you possess are Land Raiders, (the drop in BS is offset by the fact all of it's weapons are twin-linked) and perhaps vindicators depending on how many points you can spare, as the extra inch scatter is less important than it possibly not shooting its cannon.

I always put DP on my Vindis, just to keep them moving and shooting.
For Rhinos i woudl oly go with EA if you have the spare points. Otherwise keep them cheap and pop smoke. The main prupose for them is to sprint across the board and deliver their troops. So move 12", pop smoke, move again and deploy. by this point you shoudl be close enough fot the troops to make their own way in or even get a charge.

If you're playing against Tau, I don't think it's worth it. I regularly play against a friend that has a nurgle army and not once has DP saved one of his vehicles.

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do |
