That's not a bad revamp IMO. Quite similar to the "Ultimates" version. Big question will be if he has the original kite shield and then gets the round one later, presumably from Stark or S.H.I.E.L.D. ?

I think it'd work better with blue gloves perhaps ?

Not sure, it looks a bit too modern in designa nd styling to be the WW II version..plus the shield is round.

It would make sense for him to carry stuff, ala bat utility belt.

Oh, Green Lantern details have been released as well

In a universe as vast as it is mysterious, a small but powerful force has existed for centuries. Protectors of peace and justice, they are called the Green Lantern Corps. A brotherhood of warriors sworn to keep intergalactic order, each Green Lantern wears a ring that grants him superpowers. But when a new enemy called Parallax threatens to destroy the balance of power in the Universe, their fate and the fate of Earth lie in the hands of their newest recruit, the first human ever selected: Hal Jordan.

Hal is a gifted and cocky test pilot, but the Green Lanterns have little respect for humans, who have never harnessed the infinite powers of the ring before. But Hal is clearly the missing piece to the puzzle, and along with his determination and willpower, he has one thing no member of the Corps has ever had: humanity. With the encouragement of fellow pilot and childhood sweetheart Carol Ferris (Blake Lively), if Hal can quickly master his new powers and find the courage to overcome his fears, he may prove to be not only the key to defeating Parallax … he will become the greatest Green Lantern of all.

Green Lantern stars: Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan; Blake Lively (Gossip Girl) as test pilot and aviation-company heir apparent Carol Ferris; Peter Sarsgaard (An Education) as scientist Dr. Hector Hammond; Mark Strong (Sherlock Holmes) as Jordan’s mentor Sinestro; Jay O. Sanders (Revolutionary Road) as aircraft designer Carl Ferris; Temuera Morrison (Star Wars Episodes II and III) as Jordan’s alien predecessor Abin Sur; Taika Waititi (The Flight of the Conchords) as Hal’s friend Tom Kalmaku; Angela Bassett (What’s Love Got to Do with It) as government scientist Amanda Waller; and Tim Robbins (Mystic River) as Hector’s father Sen. Robert Hammond.

That sounds blindingly stupid. Captain America looks pretty bad as well. No true American hero would be unarmed. Thats something the Frenc..er a foreigner would do. Unless the utility belt has spring loaded attack weiner dogs of course.

Iron Man works because Robert Downey Jr. and lots of smarmy one liners with class A special effects. These scream "death of a movie production company," to me.

Almost the entire movie takes place in the 40's and that design is the second suit, the first of which will most likely feature the original shield.

I'm a bit worried that they haven't started shooting yet. The movie's supposed to come out in a year. Doesn't stuff like this usually take longer?

Anyway, I'm hyped. I like Cap and I really hope they pull this off.

The actual shooting will hardly take any time to complete, and it won't be out until late next year. There is plenty of time.

No Demotivational Poster can contain the amount of palming I am doing right now of that picture of 'Thor'...

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

Is that a sketch of the actual Cap uniform or a fan creation based on some of the descriptions that have been floating around?

The uniform descriptions sound fine as a Chris Nolan-style, bring-it-down-to-earth approach to the character. I still don't have much faith in the movie, though. The material is there to make a *great* movie, but considering the director's style and Marvel's general approach, I fear we're gonna get a corny, too-true-to-the-material result, updated uniform be darned. Which is a shame, because Cap done right would be like a combo of Saving Private Ryan and Batman Begins.

Regarding GL, I thought Legion was going to be the villain. Huh.

Regarding Thor, I think we're going to like the look a lot better once he starts swinging and hurling that uru hammer and calling down lightning bolts.

Why? It sounds lame. Plus it has the added feature of the problem with superman. Superman's boring because he's never in any danger. We like a tough as nails hero but at least some chance that the bad guy is pretty tough himself. Who does a norse god fight? Daleks?

The WWII version is still my fav

I love the scene of him just ramming a bomber into the gates of a Nazi missile base while jumping into a group of Germans (from one of the Ultimate comics I think).

Another Norse god, almost certainly Loki.

Also, keep in mind that in the Marvel universe the Norse gods aren't quite "gods" in the sense of being omnipotent. Thor's at the top end of the power spectrum, but there are other Marvel characters that can give him a run for his money. Hulk would probably be one of them.

The film follows the mighty Thor (Chris Hemsworth), a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth by his father Odin (Anthony Hopkins) and is forced to live among humans. A beautiful young scientist, Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), has a profound effect on Thor, as she ultimately becomes his first love. It’s while here on Earth that Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth.

The Destroyer is an enchanted suit of armor forged by Odin, and when it first appeared it was hinted that the Destroyer had been created as a weapon to face some dark menace from the stars. It is first seen residing in the Temple of darkness in Asia. The Destroyer is used by Thor’s arch-foe Loki on several occasions, and each time has actually come close to killing Thor.

Yep, the Destroyer was created to face the Celestials, a race of 'space gods' taht visit earth every 1000 years or so and judge it's right to continue.

Anyways, I know it's a couple of years out, but I'm looking forward to the Avengers..................

Wow, that looks pretty much exactly like the Destroyer in the comics.

Shots like that almost never are flattering to costumes, etc. Things always look better in the final version, and I could see the Destroyer getting an eerie glow from within or something similar come SFX time.

But see, that's what bothers me a little about Marvel controlling everything to the extent they do. While Hollywood types often lose sight of what makes a particular comic character work, I feel like Marvel might be a little too close to the material at times. It's a fine line to walk, but it can be done, as Chris Nolan showed.

I'm psyched about both. At one point, I had nearly every issue of Avengers but about 20 from the first 30 or 40 of them (I had up to the mid-300's, whenever they ended the original series). I've thought of rebuilding my collection from time to time. I've watched the Ultimate movies and they just don't work for me, but I can't decide if I'm being an old curmudgeon who rejects the revamp, or if it's because it's just not as good.

I think Thor and Cap both look pretty good for the big screen. I like the job they've done with Iron Man. I think Cap is easier to pull off than Thor. But, Kenneth Branaugh is directing Thor, and from what I've read, he was a huge fan of the comic, so I think it could be better than expected.
