How about this for a Jokaero Elder? : Discworld Librarian

And maybe these for "Regulars": Eureka Boiler suit apes, also available from Fighting 15s in the UK. (could save some shipping?)

Or, if you like your Jokaero more animal, and less rubber-masked-humans: Black Cat bases (Don't let the pictures put you off, they're actually nicer in person...)

Exploring the dark, twisting corridors of =I=Munda... Dare you follow?

Like the concept here, very cool.

I think the xenos would be heavily covered in Imperial Iconography. As much as the =I= says he is co-operating with the xenos, he is still ultimately using them as tools.(Unless he/she isn't in your scenario) The =I= would want them to know who is boss.

And I also think that an Eldar renegade/pirate/exodite would be a cool addition to the group.

And a Tyranid head servo-skull would be epic...

Whoa, Exodites sound amazing. Just read a bit about them on the Lexicanum. Hightech and rustic, my favorite combo.

And I must say, I am a huge fan of the Discworld Librarian and the "planet of the apes" style models.

This is some truly amazing stuff! I really like what you have done for the Kroot Merc. I plan on making a kroot that has a bionic arm, but I have been stumped on how to do it. Can you give us some more info on what you used to make it and how you did it? Also, could we get some closer shots of the the Tau?

I love the influx of munda projects on dakka, tis good. And this one is of that same kick ass standard.

I noted with your weapon fitouts there are some weapons that don't exist in Necromunda, so does Imunda really have that much more fun schtuff and cool weapons to screw around with?

Ok, first off I'm going to compliment you on your excellent conversion work, but the real reason i posted was to ask this question: What IS =I=munda?

I could be wrong but i believe its a hybrid of the necromunda and Inquisitor games that GW used to support.

Who digged up this great blog??

And why has it been sleeping for way too long!?

=I=munda is a great little storyline + attitude towards the hobby, cooked up by a few crazy finnish hobbyists

Thanks for the replies guys!

I'm not sure about the Jokaero, mainly because of fluff reasons. See this article on Lexicanum about the Jokaero.
Lexicanum wrote:It is impossible to argue or reason with a Jokaero, and even giving them what they want is difficult, since they are incapable of communicating.

So how would my Inquisitor, let alone the rest of the crew would be able to communicate with a Jokaero?
Miniature-wise, I try to stay faithful to GW miniatures and bits - Just personal preference..

Thanks! It was really hard to come up with the bits to use for the arm, I've been thinking about it for some time and finally just decided to make a start. The upper limb is obviously a Kroot arm (the one holding the knife). Then I glued one piece of 2mm styrene rod to the arm, followed by two pieces of 1mm styrene rod. The large piece of armour on the arm is made from the armour piece from the plastic scouts (not sure how it's called..). Then the details are made from the IG plastic Mortar support-bipod-thingy (the thing holding the mortar in place)..
The fingers are going to be a pain in the arse though - still thinking about how to do those! Hope this helps a bit!

Thank you, sir! I agree.. I really gotta buy some brass-etch =I= icons from FW, these would make a great addition to my Xenos!

Thank you, AJ!

The weapons in =I=munda can go as far as your imagination goes, basically.
Like Migs explained above, =I=munda really is a game that is driven by the story. So most exotic weapons are either from Inquisitor or you negotiate GM what would be fair. I haven't decided on rules for my gang yet, but it doesn't matter. As long as I'm happy with my models - this is really what =I=munda is all about!

Thanks, Migs!

Guilty as charged! Though I'm not sure about the "great" part... I really should update this thread more often!
I really don't have an excuse why I didn't update my log for over a year, but I hope I can make things right now..

A little update on Real Life; due to the ash cloud coming from Iceland it is impossible to go by plane all over Northern Europe. They haven't done any flights since last Thursday. Flights should be going by tomorrow - though I still doubt it. I rebooked my flight to go this wednesday - fingers crossed my plane goes this time!

Cheers!

looking at the Lexicanums article i get the impression that its very much from the Imperial point of view (like most 40k fluff) so perhaps its not a case of the Jokaero being incapable of communication and more a case of them having no interest in communication with those who have tryed.

as to how you would get one into the squad/group you could go down the road of having it communicate thru some kind of overly complicated sign language the Inquisitor or some other individual could be the only one fluent in the language to the degree that they can hold a conversation with the Jokaero but other members of the group could understand basic words like yes, no, left, right and stuff like that. think of it as a bit like when you see videos of some zoologist communicating with a gorilla but in reverse with the Jokaero using simplified terms to communicate with a less "intelligent" species

What to use model wise is more difficult especially if you don't want to move away from GW depending on how big you want the Jokaero to be you could go with something like a Ogre or OGRYN as a base but give it slightly longer arms and shorter legs so it was more ape proportioned and then model it in some kind of environmental/salvage armour with lots of parts attached to it for quick on the go inventing. maybe something like a less chaos version of this

If you wanted it to be helmet less you could always use the head of a Ogre Kingdoms Yhetee or for that matter you just tech a fi a Yhetee and use that

Hmm, well, both the stone trolls and river troll models actually do have stunted apeish legs, long forearms, as well as ample room to convert

I believe the new plastic river trolls might be a bit harder to do, but the old metal ones would work pretty well.

Just a thought.

Rise my thread!

Thanks for the final kick in the butt, Migs. I needed just that to get back into this project!

So I'm back! With loads of new idea's for the gang. I couldn't help but notice the new Jokaero Weaponsmith miniature that was released a couple of months ago, and I gotta say that I absolutely love the miniature! I'm not sure wether I'll wait for it to be released in Finecast or just order the metal version.. I won't leave the miniature unconverted though, I've got a couple of idea's for him already!

I also decided to buy some bases for my gang, I went for the Tech-deck bases from Dragon Forge Design. I saw them on Modhail's project log and I just had to order them! I ordered them 5 days ago but still haven't received an order confirmation yet.. I know I paid for it because I did get a PayPal receipt email, does anyone have any experience with Dragon Forge Design?

I also want to change the weapon for the Tau Renegade. I was thinking about a Burst Cannon from the XV25 Stealth Team kit, it just makes more sense to have some sort of gatling gun to kill those nasty Genestealer Cultists! I'm having a hard time finding the Burst Cannon, I'm sure I had at least one of them left!

I've been working a little on my Kroot Mercenary. Mainly details for his body armour and gave him some shoulder plates. The body will be finished pretty soon, I'll keep the arms separated for ease of painting. Still having some problems finding the right bits for the bionic left arm holding the crossbow.. Any suggestions?

Not much of an update, I know. But it's a start isn't it?

PS. You might notice a change of picture quality, that's because I got a new camera in my year of absence; which is about a year ago now.. It's a Canon EOS 550D for those wondering!

QFT... I would also like to thank migs for reviving this thread.

Have you looked into using a necron hand? SM hands are my go-to for bionic hand, but that's more because I have a bunch than personal preference.

Try these, I stumbled across them the other day and the left hand in the set is open, perfect to grip a crossbow with, hope this helps.

Really nice thread by the way, love the Tau bloke.

Very good camera. I have the same.

Also your miniatures and ideas are excellent!
Really going to follow this thread as I am thinking of making my own radical inquisitor team (they already exist in Dark Heresy & Rogue Trader).

That's from the AT-43 range of figures. Sadly now out of production... so you'll be looking on eBay and the like for these guys.

Sorry to bring up old news (is top of the page old?). As far as including a Jokaero but not talking to them... does this warband include any psykers? I don't know if it says otherwise in the fluff, but couldn't that be a viable form of communication with the apes?

I'd also like to ask how everything is going? as you have been in absence for a while, again. It's hard to see such a great thread fall behind. I hope you are doing well (and can soon find time for the hobby again).
