So.. if the same unlucky plasma gun model rolls two 1... does he need to roll two saves? Does the weapon get hot twice? Or just hotter?

Funnily enough, it used to literally 'get hotter' since if you rapid fired, on the second shot it would overheat on a roll of 1 and 2.

Thankfully this is no longer the case. Plasma is risky but that was a little ridiculous.

when the updated ork codex came out, "special flas git" Kaptin Badrukk had a assault 3 gets hot gun, wow wif BS 2 thats one guy i wasn't taking, but now its only ona one, I've started to convert a model for him.

I've always wondered, and staying on topic of Plasma overheats & more for arguments sake than anything else. (sorry for the old thread revive!)

But would a twin-linked plasma gun that has had an overheat result on the first roll of the dice, get to re-roll the overheat result due to the twin link? (and in an attempt to blatently save my valiant plasma gunner who cost me 15pts dammit!)

Yes. Gets Hot! only applies if the end result is a 1. Twin Linked Gets Hot! means that you have to roll 1, followed by a second one, meaning a Twin Linked Gets Hot! only gets hot 1/36 of the time.

Yes, yes it does

This is covered int he rules for Gets Hot! and also the rules for rerolls - the initial result does not stand, therefore you cannot "Gets Hot!" - it essentially never happened.

While we are on the topic, I run a WH Inq with a plasma servitor and two sages (among other things). Now the two sages allow for any model in the unit to reroll failed to hit rolls, though I don't have the exact wording with me.

How we have been playing it is that I choose whether to reroll the d6 roll to see if the cannon man cooks himself, or to reroll the scatter. Is this correct, or should I only be rerolling one or the other?

Blast Weapons that Re-roll to hit only re-roll the Scatter Dice. In the Case of Plasma Cannons, this means there is no way to re-roll the Gets Hot! dice. Yes, it makes Plasma Cannons a lot more dangerous, but it's a S7 AP2 Blast that more often than not hits the target dead on, so it all works out

Off memory of course, so I might be utterly wrong (busy doing other stuff atm so I can't grab my books).

The to hit roll for blast weapons is the scatter result - there is a specific "Gets Hot!" roll for Blast weapons that precedes the "to hit" roll and is not related to it - so no rerolling there.

Rerolling scatter is, of course, awesome...I have many havoc launchers in my army

My Space Marine Company has 25 Plasma Weapons in it
-Plasma Pistols x11
-Plasma Guns x6
-Plasma Cannons x8

Until a few weeks a go I had never lost a fig to “Gets Hot”
This last game with them I lost 4 or 5.
However they made up for it in kills, except for a Venerable Dreadnaught that ate 15 over two turns, 5-7 in the rear and refused to die.

My biker Chaos Lt with 2+ armor save usually lost one of his wounds to plasma overheat.

The funnist one was when rapid firing his gun rolled 1,1 then rolled 1, 2 for his armor saves. If it wasn't for demonic armor he would have toasted himself dead. Greater insult was that he still didn't hit anything even with a BS5.

If I have an Obliterator Squad consisting of 2 models and one of them is wounded, and then the other model fails his Gets Hot! save, can I technically have 2 identical multiple-wound models wounded? I guess I can, because I must remove models if the unit gets hit, not particular model.
