Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do |

It's useless to argue about the fluff. The point is that the original poster has got a cool idea -- he thinks it's cool even if someone else doesn't -- and wants help to realise it.
People can either help, or ignore it and go away.
It's like female marines. You may haet the idea but that won't stop someone else from making an army if they want to.
The attraction of 40K is that the fluff is so open ended you can make more or less whatever you want fit into the game system.
Unlike Historicals -- good luck if you want to paint your French Napoleonic infantry with green uniforms, for instance.

Have you thought about using an XV-15 for a commander? They are pretty much just wearing Firewarrior armor that covers more of the body has a jump-pack and stealth systems.

Perhaps a bit on the crazy side but I thought of a hybrid sort of commander.
He is a descendant of the first Kroot to interact with the Tau, and as such he's genes are more than half Tau Fire Cast.
Physically, he appears as a larger, bulkier (more muscle), Tau but retains the distinctive Kroot dreadlocks and a toned down beak.
He is looked down upon the Ethereals, but his impressive might and iron will, not to mention open mind to new tactics have made him a favorite of several cadres and allies.
He employs a great deal of Kroot and Gue'vessa however he uses them tactically instead of mere cannon fodder like many other Fire Cast Shash'O, something that makes them fight with greater devotion.
TLDR: Kroot-Tau hybrid that is bad-ass and is liked by all the allies, he is not afraid to get in hand to hand.

Fixed that for you.
Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I'm skeptical of a half-breed, regardless of the Kroot's ability to absorb DNA. It reeks of bad fan-fiction love for fluff.

Yeah its quite forced to be honest, but its still Fluff-esque (it could happen). And to be honest, I've seen so much worse...

OR his ancestors ate the dead bodies of those Tau they so lovingly made the acquaintance of.
