Hey all

No pics at the moment. The light is naff and my camera has no charge, I'll try and get some decent lighting at home and take some snaps this evening or tomorrow.

I managed to get the all the chaos that I wanted to paint done. I just need to tidy up the odd detail here and there, but they're certainly good enough for table top.

For next week I want to get a squad of 5 noise marines finished including a blastmaster and sonic blaster and some possessed

Light's, Camera, Action!

I'm proud of how these look considering I did them all in a week between the hours of 9pm and 10pm or 6am to 12noon They're a tad rushed in places so I will be going back and tidying them but I had to get them finished so they could make an appearance at my gaming club on Saturday. I am determined to stick to my "if it ain't painted, you ain't seeing it" rule as otherwise I'd still be staring at high on 1000pts of grey plastic coloured orks.

I also need a light box. The highlighting on my berserkers is much better than it appears in these pics :/ I've also noticed that I need to tidy up the plasma pistol toting berserker's eye. DOH! Waiting for some form of decent natural lighting is resulting in many of the pics being over-exposed or over-shaded. It might look good and arty for proper photographers but I'm finding it's making my averagely painted mini's look underwhelming! I think a budget light box needs to go on my chrimbo pressie list for me

anyways onto the pics.

Firstly: Vanilla CSM painted in Emperor's Children colours. You'll notice that I've used different pinks in the unit, it's because I want to have a mix of pinks throughout the force to provide a bit of randomness without losing the theme of the army which will be Emperor's children with various allied units from other CSM chapters ...

And now the rhino. It needs to be tidied a little yet, I'd like to add a little grime around the vents on the sides and I will (when I man up) freehand on the EC chapter badge on the door and on the double doors at the top I'd like to do a slaanesh icon. I've seen someone else pull it off on an EC rhino elsewhere on dakka and it looked lush.

And finally - the finished berserkers! The plasma pistol armed berserkers are all magnetised as is the champion so I can switch between normal weapons and plasma pistols on the berserkers and between power fist and power sword on the skull champion.

I've just airbrushed the black onto 5 Noise marines including blastmaster and 3 sonic blasters along with 5 possessed csm. Getting those into a gaming standard by Saturday is going to be difficult.... :cripes:

Thanks for reading

Right I'm back.

I'm about to head off for a little holiday and I wanted to get some of my stuff up before I left )

My christmas projects are as follows;

nurgle daemon prince, possessed csm and defiler for my chaos army and a couple of big meks for my ork army. That should give me lots of different colours to paint so I get a break from pink, green and yellow

This week I've completed a couple of things.
Firstly - my EC themed Predator, I know the image is a tad blurry, I'll retake after my trip to see the outlaws.

Secondly - PLAGUE MARINES!! Roar

Massive thanks have to go to girlpainting for her youtube plague marine tutorial. It was invaluable and her rust tip was so good I got carried away. I can't wait to paint my nurgle daemon prince now as a result!

Cheers and Merry Christmas/ Happy winter holidays / Magic Sky fairy day / etc / etc!

Right. Firstly let's have a wip possessed marine shot..

I think I should take the armour a tad closer to white but other than that I'm fairly happy with it. Only the armour is highlighted but I'd welcome your thoughts before I move on to other aspects of the figure. This has been sat in this condition for a few days whilst I concentrated on painting up 10 ork boyz and another battlewagon for my Ork force as I have a game today and plan to use both of those in the force...

so without further ado...

Thoughts? I needs a little smoothing in places as I can see a few areas where I've clearly missed bits but as a colour combo I think it's close to what the pre-heresy shots show and has nice contrast..

Now, onto the orks.....

There's a deffrolla on the way for this bad boy and it's red cos it's got a go fasta paint job innit!

There's areas that need tidying, the yellow still needs work as it's not looking weathered enough for my liking and I'm tempted to chip the red armour a little bit. I'm very pleased with the rust at the front but I've got to run over some areas again as in places it's a little too "dabby" for my liking. It's certainly ok for gaming however...

This is (-10 orks who are currently drying after being based) my force for later on today...

Big mek with kff, 2 units of 19 slugga boyz lead by nobs with pks and bosspoles in battlewagons, one unit of 12 boyz with nob & boss pole armed with shootas in a trukk for objective camping and two deffkoptas with TL rl for outflanking shenanigans and to keep my opponent guessing. It should be fun

Thanks for looking

Rust looks good. Definitely chip the red (and yellow and well everything ) - seems odd to have a factory fresh paint finish and rust (doubly so for Orks)

Kk combination of six nations egg chasing and lotsofwork (tm) have left me with little to mention over the last couple of weeks.

I should point you at the puppetwars "notdeathrolla" btw. It's epic and looks very intimidating on a battlewagon. I need to finish the rust effect off on mine but here's some wip shots..

This is what I had alot of fun doing in my last game. Dual Battlewagon tank shock a-go-go

So I've fallen in love with Nurgle.

I've been beavering away painting and trying to source a replacement battery pack for my Camera.

Skinnereal of Dakka was at my local gaming club this weekend and took a shot of my Rhino for me ...

It's come out ok

It was my first attempt at greenstuffing so I'm relatively happy with the results..

MOAR CHAOS!!! death to the corpse emperor etc etc

And now...

Plague Marines with Flamers, Champ with Power Fist..

Champion First:

Front Rank with Flamers:

Rear Rank:

Nurgle Sorcerer:

Obliterators:

Not happy with the PJ on these but they'll do for gaming.

Next - WIP Stuff!

Lp

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Without further ado...

Firstly, Chaos Raptors with Icon of Nurgle. Made using a combo of berserker legs, normal vanilla legs, possessed legs, chaos marauder picks and a couple of possessed claw arms for "counts as lightning claws". I've got some jump packs for these guys which I've added greens stuff and horns / feelers from the possessed kit

Secondly: Death Guard Havocs

Made from green stuffed vanilla marine havocs, plague marine torsos etc.. I stupidly gamed with these before finishing them and some muppet knocked a couple of the figures together causing metal to flake away from the metal backpacks. I need to repair that and finish highlighting the green.

Squad:

PM with Missle Launcher:

Normal Marine with Autocannon:

WIP Rhino:

This is actually my Emperor's Children Predator. The turret has also been base coated brown andgreen stuffed along with all the weapon options which are magnetised. I hope to finish it off next weekend..

The unit of plague marines with melta's which will go in it. This unit should be finished this weekend I hope

Finally:

Terminator Lord
WIP terminator lord with Daemon Weapon of Nurgle and combi bolter. I dunno where I got the scythe from, I suspect it maybe an optional extra from the Heresy Tunnel Dweller model, which is sadly no longer available because it was gorgeous.

I've been busy!

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand we're back!!

I've finished a Chaos Predator recently.

And a Side view (featuring slightly ropey greenstuff tentacles)

I've also started yet another side project... WHFB. Lizardmen..

I dug out my 1996 army and started stripping / reconfiguring the figures so they're somewhat legal. I took the sides off my Slann on Temple Guard Palanquin and added a flying stand and hey presto! Slann on Floaty throne. The base is from foundations of war (check them out, great service)

Old school Saurus Warrior command. I've got a new hero and a block of 30 spears almost finished and when they are I'll post a snap of the unit. We're bases and a hero off being done.

Sorry for the hiatus - Camera was playing up.

Hey Again folks

I've been painting over the last two weeks trying to get a bunch of stuff ready for next week and the new edition of 40k. I'm in the middle of an ork dakka jet as I type this but I thought I'd take a break whilst washes and base coats dry to post up some stuff that I've finished over the last two-three days.

Firstly - A Puppet Wars Ork Da Plane

I really love this model and I've made mine with pilot in with his head out of the cockpit. It's a gorgeous sculpt and great fun to paint. I'm not massively happy with the rust which hasn't worked as well as I'd like. I also need to improve my freehand but rather than hide it away I thought I'd do it, post it up and then I have a reference point to return to which should give me a nice contrast for improvements.

I've also finished the weathering on my first defiler.

This was my first attempt at greenstuffing and also was the first model that I bought off ebay and stripped so it's been a real effort taking this from gunked in paint and broken almost completed. The Head was missing from the model so I greenstuffed on a spare daemon prince head. The rust is done I just need to sort out the off white armour and green trim then give it a final wash or two to tidy up the blends and give depth.

let me know what you think please folks and also, if you have any tips on checks it would be much appreciated

It's been a bit hectic with the release of 6th. I've been playing some games and having some fun. It's certainly looking like a really interesting set of rules.

I've been working on my ork flyers, the first is Da Red Baron

The rockets and bombs are magnetised so I can run it as a dakka jet OR a burna bomba or a Blitza Bomba

I'm working on his wingman as we speak, Da Yella Peril. That will be a pure dakka jet when it's finished which again will be yellow (to tie in my with my bad moons) but also red as I want to make use of the red paint job rules.

I wanted to do the whole Cartman shades thing with his glasses (from the episode of South Park where Cartman goes all chips and every time you see him he's wearing shades and the same mountains are in the reflection, no matter where he is). I like the effect although I can see (with the figure zoomed in) that it needs a bit of tidying.

Overall I'm pleased with how it's looking and the new GW yellows are just epic.

Continuing onwards with bad moons. I've got a 1500 pt game of 6th on the cards this weekend and I wanted to field my dakkajets.

I'm holding myself firmly to a not painted, not on the table rule with my orks (otherwise I'd get nowhere) and I've finished the second dakkajet.

I'm torn between adding scratches and scrapes or not... What do you think?

lol "thanks for the epic advice there guys"
liking the new warboss very clean and very well painted, with regards to the daka jet, i think it needs something but not tears or scrapes, just something break up the large areas of yellow and red also looking very good as is though so i would'nt be stressing about adding anything to it. (just noticed the dirt on it cool) anyway keep up the good work

Ta dude.

I think the jet needs some pigment washing into crevices as I can see gaps where the dust didn't settle which just doesn't look right to me.

I agree on the large chunks of colour. I'm waiting on a pen which will let me draw on check patterns then I'm going to add some checks on the flaps, wings or nosecones

Weekly update time!

I finished and varnished the AOBR warboss that I had knocking about.

Cleaned up a mould line which had snuck past the cleaning phase and added some checks to the power klaw. I also recoloured his hair on the boss pole as it was a little too samey to the rest of the figure

Quite happy with the subtle shading on the black. There's bits that I'd like to improve.

Why did I not see the mould line on the staff until i took the picture? How could I miss it whilst painting this model?

I have to be honest I struggled with this figure. I just didn't feel the love for it all the way through painting. It shows as I've clearly rushed the skin in places on both the Wierd boy and Gretchen in places. I dunno, like the burna boys I did. I like the sculpts and have seen some great paint jobs of them but I've really struggled to make mine look any good.

Putting the other gretchen somewhere safe until i could paint them didn't help! When I find them I'll add them in. Although I might use one of them elsewhere.

It's been a while.

Terrible summer@ work nerfed my painting time. I'm out the other side of it now (I hope) and I should be more active.

Firstly - I went back and added checks to a couple of my ork vehicles, I think the wagon needs more checks. I think the jet needs more freehand.

I also finished a DaemonPrince for my Chaos force. Not happy with this paintjob but it will do for gaming with,

Finally... with the arrival of Dark Vengeance I decided to have a little go at Dark Angels.

I had a landspeeder that I got from a trade on Dakka ages ago. I traded some Ravenwing Upgrade sprues a couple of weeks ago and used some of the bits to turn my boring old landspeeder into a Ravenwing support landspeeder. ROAR!

There needs to be a tumbleweed emoticon for this thread :p

More stuff. I "finished" a ravenwing attack bike at the weekend. I need to do some slight touching up on the bike itself but overall I'm pleased with it. The rest of the bikes are finished and the bases are ready for painting. I just need to touch up highlights and edge highlight the black and banner poles. I also need to finish the riders but the squad is almost done.

Considering it's 400pts of my force it represents a hefty chunk of what needs to be painted for my 1000pt and 1500 pt lists.

Thoughts, comments, critique. tumbleweed?

No worries matey

I'm a terrible lurker myself most of the time

The DP I'm really not happy with. It was one of those "Ok I'm just finishing this now" moments as if I hadn't I don't think it ever would've been finished. I think the skin is too dark for the scheme myself. As it's so mid-tone there's no contrast on the armour and the other colours are lost as a result leaving it looking a tad messy.

More work researching the colour wheel for me!
