That list does seem slanted to skaven in terms of $ value, on the split... unless the griffon is sweet-tastic

Very cool if it's true! And huzzah for finally having a date! Take that, GW redshirts who denied it was coming!!!!

If this is true, sign me up for at least 2 of these set. Can never have enough Rats(clan or slaves) in a Skaven army.

With regard to the potential for a newer High Elf book being pushed forward in the update cycle:

While other armies certainly need the updates sooner (Ogres come to mind, as well as O&G), if a lot of the Rumor Mill (tm) is correct, the High Elf army list is going to need quite a bit of an overhaul. Tied with the fact that they're in the new box set, I wouldn't be surprised if a new HE book was under way.

Still, not expecting it.

Im betting HE will lose Speed of Asyurean , and only apply to some unit instead of whole faction.

I'm down for some pastic heavy explosives

As if on cue, you hear two people singing from the stairwell, and the door is opened and a pair of very smelly, very dirty guardsmen stumble in, completely drunk, and covered in vomit, and immediately collapse unconsious on the porch. You drag them to their beds, realising that they will not be waking up for some time.

If that box starters contents are true, count me in. Even though I only play as HE, it's always nice to have more models! A plastic Griffon would be VERY nice, and Sword Masters too.
However, didn't anyone notice that HEs would have only one Core unit on the starter box while every other modern-day (Black Reach (in 4th edition SM book), BFSP and the older WFB box with Empire and Orks)?

Win/Draw/Lost statics
Space Orks: 11/1/1
Space Marines: 10/2/5
Lizardmen: 8/2/3
High Elves: 13/2/2 and one tournament victory!

Black Reach didn't have a playable Space Marine army either, as the Tactical Squad couldn't be split (legally) into two separate unit choices because of the Missile Launcher (even if you used the 4th Edition Codex).

I say ho hum to this, because you can have some fun games with the starter kits regardless.

Don't HEs require one less Core unit than everyone else thanks to their re-structured Army builds emphasizing Special and Rare Choices? I could swear at 1000 and under, they only require 1+ Core instead of the usual 2+.

This makes me REALLY excited, though I dread the day I have to flop $50 for the new rulebook.

Two L1 bray's throwing two dice each at beastial surge a turn, and if points allow, three dice each....yummy.

Which is exactly what I'm talking about.

Right now, Beastial Surge is useless, its d6+1 towards the nearest enemy unit, normal if they can't see any, but CAN'T CHARGE, they stop 1" in front of it. Useless.

But if magic changed to before the movement phase (big rumor) than that would make it an EXTREMELY powerful spell, and its a #1 spell, so I will always get it.

Even GW wouldn't be that careless with the beastmen book to make their magic completely useless. As well, the beastmen book further implies that casting values will tend to be higher, as nothing in the beastmen magic is lower than a 7+(keep in mind that one dice can't accomplish anything for Lore of the Wild)

I'll be ecstatic if these rumors hold to be true. Will down-grade magic to not be the terrible QQ-fest it is now, and even more so making magic all-or-nothing than it already is.

I foresee mighty storms brewing on the yonder, but a shining(or rather dark red) light shining on the lands of the Beastmen.

Well more to the point is they're going to be mixing up how power dice are generated.. So you may or may not need points to bump them all up to level 2.. who knows

We'll see! Most exciting fantasy has been since 6th edition (Although I had fun in 5th a lot with crazy characters)

Allegedly!!!!

Hero hammer is going out with 8th edition. They want to go away from one hero charging a full unit and breaking them...

This is all speculation though so who really knows.

Hell yes!

I'm really looking forward to starting a Skaven army (and WFB in general), I'm falling in love with some of the models. Plague Monks, Clanrats and Stormvermin all look wonderful, not to mention their vehicle-type things like that Doomwheel.

Question for the Skaven players, are Night Runners worth playing? The models look kind of gross, like they're too much human, not enough rat.

But that can already be achieved by casting Van Hels after you've summoned up your Zombies. It does seem a little overpowered, but all it's really doing is changing which spells your opponent will want to dispel as a priority. In this case, you don't want the Zombies there at all, so you dispel the summoning, rather than Van Hels. Mind you, it is entirely possible that units summoned/newly arrived via Magic cannot charge in the same turn, much like deepstriking in 40k. Particularly with the zombie buggery tactic, you don't need anything else to win that combat. Summon Zombies, Bum enemy unit, win combat almost by default, watch as non-ITP troops break and flee.

Me, I've my fingers crossed that Dispel Scrolls will be changing. As a Skaven player, there is nothing quite as nut bustingly annoying as going for Dreaded 13th, throwing 9 dice at it (5 Power, 1 Power Stone, 2 chunks of Warpstone), casting it without Irresistible or Miscast, and having this high risk spell stopped by a lame 25 point magic item. Just make it a one off bonus of dispel dice per scroll, with only one being used against any casting. Lovely.

The thing with dispel scrolls is that they are used to keep the magic phase in check. Whether they are down graded in power depends on whether GW wants 8th to be the "Power Magic Edition"

It's just that with Casting Levels seemingly on the rise for the really filthy spells (and quite rightly. Not whinging about that!) I need to invest a lot of points if I intend to capitalise on them. And to have my opponent cockblock my magic phase in such a mundane way is pretty boring. You don't get a dispel against a good shoeing in combat, or indeed against a good bit of old fashioned Dakka, but you can however shut down your opponents magic phase if you so wish, the phase with more inherent risks than the other two...

Purely a personal thing though!

Well exactly! Plus you always have more chance to miscast than get irresistible (Miscast trumps) it really gets up my nose when my opponent has caddied it away. Hmph!

But I'm digressing!

I remain to be convinced still on any rumours whatsoever on 8th Edition. Some seem seriously out there, others more plausible. Either way, waiting to get my paws on the book before trusting owt!
