True. I'm not saying it's perfect, just that he did have something to do with scouts, rules wise. I can't really think of any other modification to him other than giving one scout unit a stats boost to make them feel as if they are ready to graduate up to power armour.

1. Do Elysian sergeants still have access to lasguns with aux. grenade launchers?

2. Do the Elysians yet again suffer and lose? (You might want to put this one in spoiler tags)

1) yes they do. Even the Commissars can get the lasguns with aux. grenade launcher. It's a bit irritating that Elysian sergeants can get lasguns, but regular Guard ones can't.

I think I may have to pick up a few Valks and try running my current guard force using the Elysian lists; mostly so I can add sentinels into each platoon and have them count as troops

I just ordered my own copy, but I'm sadly sticking with Veteran squads, seeing as I want to keep the list as close as possible to the IA4 list, which means a lot of jockeying around the fast attack slots with four drop Sentinels, three Venators and maybe a Vendetta. Are sentry guns still in as the only other heavy support choice besides the Vulture?

Beware the stats typo in the Vet squads though (see my earlier post)

Heavy slots available are : Vultures, sentry guns, Sky Talon (doesn't use FOC slot), Thunderbolt and Lightning

Drop sentinels are now Elites, or part of a platoon rather than fast attack. FA is now Vendetta, Tauros, Venator and Cyclops

I can field all units without a problem. I'll probably have to turn my para rescue squad and sniper teams into full strength veteran squads though.

Ah. I see. The Copy/Paste issue raises it's head again. The Vet squad stats are a copy/paste job of the Infantry squad, with the Commissar renamed to be Hvy Weapons team. Who wants a weapons team with LD9 and WS4?

Can you combine Shrike and Korvydae in the same army? So you can have assault squads that fleet and count as troops?

Don't know, as I said, the only rules for RG are for Korvydae. No other rules for RG whatsoever, but lots of background for them.

Why would there be other rules for Raven Guard?

They're a Codex Chapter, just with a lot of independence afforded to their commanders. That's not exactly something you can represent with rules y'know

There's nothing in his entry to say you can't use them together. It just says Korvydae is an IC and an HQ choice

Doh. Just read through the Elysian lists in the book and found the first of (probably) many typos. Elysian Vets and Vet Sergeant are WS3/BS3, rather than the WS3/BS4 of normal Guard Vets. In addition, the Vet Heavy weapons troops have WS4/BS4?! The Attack and LD values are wrong too. Why would the Hvy weapons team have a higher LD than the sergeant or normal vets?


thanks for the info. it sounds like thanstadt is a straken-lite character, and knowing forgeworld, is probably about the same points, lol. as for the errors, does anyone at forgeworld *actually* play 40k? seriously, all it takes is ONE game (or even making up ONE real list) and you'd catch a bunch of these mistakes.

The issue isn't that they don't play. It's that they don't proof read.

Based on his FOC alteration, it would have made sense for the RG Captain's fluff to be 8th company.

-Can Cyclops' buy a Valk as a dedicated transport?
-Can the new FA vehicles Scout or Deep Strike or do we need a Sky talon for DS action?

For some of us, sergeants can be armed either way, depending on how the particular model serving as Sergeant was cast...

playing is proofreading (and a bit more fun). most people don't have gwarsense for incongruous rules. actually using them in a game helps find the ones that sometimes don't leap out at you. either way, they don't do it.
