I've just tried re-downloading it, but it still won't open. Hmmm....

EDIT: There we go. Just got it working, it was a leftover from a virus I had a week back screwing me around. It erased the dll files from half a dozen programs.

EDIT2: Looks like a fine fandex to me. Go for it. We'll use it as the standard kroot codex for this.

The ruins of the Palace of Thorns

As the third person who PM'd, I will officially take full credit for the entirety of this event. It clearly wouldn't have happened at all without my huge effort of PMing Ketara.

More seriously, I had a blast at the last one. I will say "Yes" and am 99.99% sure I will be able to make it.

I will also be able to bring at least one (hopefully two) 6x4' textured and painted table in 2x2' chunks, and enough hills, ruins and vegetation for both tables, so we can have a sexy looking pair of tables.

I have played a few games recently against Mark, who was at the last one, but I can't remember his ID on Dakka, so I will PM him on FB.

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

May have to place a FW order for 6 great knarlocks with bolt throwers lol, look quality and have some half decent rules now.

Otherwise, they havent changed a great deal.
Still rely on eviscerators in combat for tanks.

May have to make a few changed here and there and get some quick painting going, but im about 85% sure ill be going. (got the time off to take, but need to check the books 1st at work)

I can bring a 6x4 foot brown desert mat with hills, river, roads and some features, plus my famous Tau Outpost buildings, which are being augmented at the moment.

Fifty, Mark is RinkyDink.
I'll try and make sure I have a minimum amount of terrain for the tables regardless, simply because I like the peace of mind of knowing that if people forget, there'll still be enough terrain to go around!
Having said that, feel free to bring a few pieces, it only helps liven the experience! Killkrazy's tau terrain in particular was amazing at the last Platinum Devil!

So far, maybe's and definite's combined, we have 12 people already! That's not counting ArbitorIan, and Brad, who will no doubt come along if Panic is, and various people's mentioned friends! As such, I'll go and discuss the room with the M aster's assistant next mon, and as such, will hopefully have a concrete date.
Red, you work over in Rutherford servery right? Just in case it comes it up.

This one is looking to be twice the size of the last! Hopefully, we'll still be able to keep that personal atmosphere with so many people! Having said that, the fact that a number of the crew are already acquainted will make that easier though, no doubt.

The ruins of the Palace of Thorns

How many people went to Silver Sorceror in the summer?

I reckon that with 10 people having fitted in so easily last time, we should be able to fit 16 into the same room very easily, and 20 without much difficulty.

The problem would then be to fit in enough games - it would be unlikely that everyone would get to play everyone else. That is not a terrible thing, but requires more planning.

In terms of scenarios, would you make some custom ones again? It would be nice to have a mixture of basic missions from the rulebook, extra ones from Battle Missions or maybe an Imperial Armour Book (Boarding Actions from IA9!) and some completely custom ones again. I'd like to repeat the teleporter mission!

1000 points seemed about rght for quick games, or maybe play one less game, but go for 1250?

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

The last event was tremendous fun and I was only thinking the other day about whether you were doing another one.
But...I can't do December. Have fun everyone who can and I'm really up for Plantinum Devil III.

Any thoughts on which missions should make a come back? The ones we used before were as follows:-

Beacon drop, Table Halves

6 Beacons are placed on the tables by the judges before the game begins. To win the game, you must have more beacons in your possession than your opponent when the game ends. If you have the same number, the game is a draw.

Any non-vehicle troops, Fast Attack, or Elites choice may claim a beacon by moving into base contact with it. They are then regarded as having 'picked up' the beacon. A unit may move and take a beacon with them. Units with a beacon may not embark on vehicles. If a unit carrying a beacon is eliminated, or fails a leadership test and breaks, the beacon is left where they were previously standing, and is no longer claimed by that unit. If a unit with a beacon is defeated in combat and is either wiped out or flees, the beacon passes into the possession of the unit that defeated them if the unit is eligible. If not, the beacon is left unclaimed as above. Carrying a beacon does not affect a unit's movement. A unit may carry a maximum of 1 beacon for every 5 models in the unit(If the total number of models in the unit is less than 5, it may still carry 1. Once a beacon is picked up, the carrying unit is unable to leave the board in any way(so a Lictor would not be able to pick one up, and then go back into reserve, for example).

Portal, Table Halves

There are 4 beacons placed on the table by the judges(one in each quarter). Each counts as a holdable objective, and to win a player must control more beacons than his opponent(if they hold the same number, the game is a draw). As a holdable objective, a beacon is contested if there is an enemy unit within 3” of it. Only Troops options may claim objectives. Each beacon has the number 2,3,4, or 5 on the underside. If a model from a non-vehicle unit(except for walkers) moves into base contact with a Beacon, they may choose to activate it. Roll a D6 and apply the following effect:

1:-The unit is lost in the warp and removed from the game
2-5:-Place the unit in base contact with the beacon of the correct corresponding number. If you roll the number of the beacon you just activated, you may choose which beacon to emerge from.
6:-Deep strike the unit to anywhere on the table.

A unit may assault the turn it exits a portal, providing there is a target within range, but does not receive any assault bonuses (so no +1 attack, Furious charge is negated, etc). If a Portal is completely surrounded by models, so that there is no space for a newly teleported unit to be placed, then the surrounding squad must be moved the minimum necessary amount to accommodate the newly teleported squad having a minimum of 1 model placed in base contact with the portal, with the rest of the squad maintaining squad coherency.

Assassination, Table Quarters

Counts as a standard Annihilation mission, except that HQ choices are worth 3 Kill points, and Elites and Heavy Support Choices 2 Kill Points

I have both Imperial Armour 8 and battle missions if anyone wants me to bring em along.

There's a fun chase mission called "rolling road" where you move terrain down 18" per turn to simulate a high speed chase.

EDIT:// Just got imperial armour 9 through the post today so I can bring that too

Still not 100% sure if i can come, tis looking good though

Ill bring along basics to start with (army, tons of dice, tools etc)
Might be able to scrape some terrain together too.
If not, ill buy some and get it up to scratch quickly.

Also, if needed ive got most codex's (missing guard and SoB) that i can bring for spares.

Final note, with IA being used, anyone know what one i need to buy for rules for the blood slaughterer of khorne please?

Picked up the impaler version ages ago, but never thought about rules lol (impulse purchase on my part)

I have accidentally scanned my collection of IA books to PDF form for completely legal backup purposes, which I can bring as reference. A general rule should be that if you bring IA units you MUST bring a printed copy of the rules for them so that your opponent can look through them before the game. Or, state here that you're using IA units when you state which army you've chosen, just so that people know to prepare for them. Although it's anything goes, it's only 1000pts, so might be sensible to say 'no Super Heavies', though maybe the fact that you can't take separate detachments would offset this anyway. No flyers? Or just no super-heavy flyers - the lighter flyers aren't really much of a threat...

I would suggest similar missions to last time. If we use battle missions from the book, we would have to post them here so that everyone knows them in advance - the whole thing about battle missions is that they're weighted towards different army types, so you pick a mission before you choose your army. Since we can't reprint the exact missions here, we should steer clear of them, or invent out own Very Similar ones...

I'm planning on doing the same as last time, in that I'll invent a couple of new ones, shove 1 or 2 of the custom ones from last time in, and toss in a few standard missions into the mix to finish the lineup.

The ruins of the Palace of Thorns

I think I would like to use this as an incentive to assemble a Tyrant's Legion.

The Badab War has been one of my favourite elements of the fluff ever since I first heard of it back around WD100ish. Recently, reading though my copy of W40K: Rogue Trader, I rediscovered the original "...the Big Guns Never Tire" quote, which, in addition to my purchase of IA9 and current building of a Lamenters force, has re-fired my inspiration and made me start buying models from EBay to use in my Auxiliary Militia.

The Tyrant's Legion list doesn't seem too powerful to me. Is it okay, in principle at least, to use it?

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

I've got every IA and codex since 3rd edition and most of the 2nd and 1st edition ones as well. Rules wise we are sorted.
