Any chance of making it 1250pts this time?

I would actually support that idea. I've been trying to write 1000pt lists and realising that it is almost impossible to have both enough troops and anything interesting in the army at 1000 points.

Given that I'm tossing up options for using the 3ed Harlequins Codex, 1250 would be lovely - but I'm happy with 1000 too.
I go to these events to play lots of different people, so I'm all in favour of lots of smaller games rather than less, bigger ones.

If we increased the points to 1,250 the number of competition games played might drop from five to four. Of course it depends partly on what you use the extra 250 points for; one Trygon Prime or an extra 40 Termagants.
We might get playing a bit earlier/quicker and continue a bit later and get in five games at 1,250.
For example, cutting the lunchtime walk over to the canteen in favour of a picnic lunch would save a bit of time.

I'd rather have a lunch in or next to the room that we bring ourselves and save a bit of time. It would be a good opportunity to check out each other's models too, without the pressure of setting up for a game. Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh, and if get 250 extra points, most of it will go on being able to include Lugft Huron (230 points) in my Tyrant's Legin force.

I say, why restrict ourselves? Say, first day, 4 1000 point games, second day, 3 1250/1500 point games?

Personally I would prefer more 1000 point games than a few 1250/1500 games.
Perhaps we could organize an apocalypse game on the second day?

Well, I was thinking about this a minute ago...
How about a gradual, slight escalation?
Day 1 - Fought between two teams, each person facing a different opponent each time.
Game 1 - 1000 points
Game 2 - 1000 points
Game 3 - 1250 points
Game 4 - 1500 points
Followed by an Apocalypse game on Day 2, with extra stratagem cards based on winners of each round the previous day?

yeah, I'd prefer a few more points and less games... also i found myself a bit warhammered out on the second day... -Day1- Game 1 - 1250 points Game 2 - 1250 points Game 3 - 1250 points -Day2- Game 4 - 1250 points Game 5 - 1250 points I don't fancy really like the idea of Apoc games they generally take too long to organise... Although I like the escalation idea. So I'll also propose -Day1- Game 1 - 1000 points Game 2 - 1000 points Game 3 - 1250 points -Day2- Game 4 - 1250 points Game 5 - 1500 points Although some people might not have 1500 of painted troops... Panic...

After Silver Sorcerer l I discovered that while it is a great idea to try and play against as many people as possible, I found it quite draining
I much preferred Sunday where I only played 2 larger games (~1500 and ~2000) - I could have fitted in a third but had to head home. Got to know the people I was playing against a bit better and it was less pressure to try and get the games concluded in time (might just be because I am a bit of a noob when it comes to playing ).

Well, Ketara is organising, so these things are really up to him, but I'd like to propose a compromise...
Day 1
Game 1 - 1000 points.
Game 2 - 1250 points
Game 3 - 1500 points
Day 2
Game 4 - 3000 points (doubles match - 1500 points each)
Game 5 - 3000 points (as above)
And keep it in teams still. That way, most you'll play with or against most people, and have an incentive to cheer for those on your own team you do not get to play with.

I like the escalation idea. Even something as simple as
Day 1
4 x 1000/1250pt games
Day 2
2/3 x 1500/1750pt games

Im happy to go with anything up to 6k
Painting wise, i may have to burn through some painting, but no real problem, i can just paint them to TT standard, then any time left i can go into more detail.
but i agree with the escalation.
If i were to bring daemons, i have a single DP painted lol, so i'd need to get cracking, so that idea is out of the window.

Hmmm...seems everyone has different ideas of exactly what kind of layout they're looking for, so I'll have to use my best judgement on that one....
However, I do like the idea of team games, so I may work one or two of them in....
Hopefully, we'd be in the same place as last time, which would be Darwin Missing Link Building in the University of Kent.
Just out of interest, would players be interested in faction themed storyline, or should we keep it sweet and simple?

I'd be happy with a faction theme, but if we can't shoehorn the various armies people bring into two factions, it would not worry me too much.

I have to bring Hive Fleet Kielbasa because it is the only army I have on hand ATM.
I don't want to play games larger than 1,500 points as I will have to build and paint some new models to get up to 1,500 points. I know I couldn't paint very many in two months, as I have to convert them using resin mouldings.
If people want to play a big doubles game (3,000 points) I would be up for that. I think it would be a nice change of pace.

Sorry for coming in so late - I am interested indeed.
I can get a 1'000 point Eldar or Guard list up and running I think. Fully-painted will be a lot of fun too.
I've got a couple of guys from my gaming group interested in heading down - what's the rule on that?
Excited!

Moving on..
I'm not sure yet which catering facilities would be open then anyway, this is just before the Uni shuts for Xmas, so it might be easier -- and time saving -- if we just get a delivery/go for a drive to a take away for food. Hell if we get enough people and £s in front we can pre order a Subway platter pr something.
I'd prefer to play a game or two less, maybe at bigger points. I would love to do the Apoc. thing as well, but wonder if it might be best to leave that for another day,and then just do some crazy themed battle over 2 days, that way people can tweak or theme their armies a bit. For example if we've got people making Badab War forces we could play games based around that, and before hand people can be assigned to sides, so people's guard forces can be loyalist or traitor or hired xenos mercenary etc etc

Now we just need to find someone who plays IL-Kaithe Space Elves
If we can decide what we are going to play as soon as possible, that will be great. I've got about 1,500 CSM painted and ready to play (which I would be most happy using as they are the only army of mine I have ever played with ), I have about 1,500 IG painted up (got them in a trade pre-painted ), but I've not used them yet. I also have lots of Eldar that I am currently painting up (not sure how much I've painted up yet points wise), but I might be able to get 1,500 painted up if we need Eldar (although I've not played with them yet).
This is assuming that I will be able to make it over, which I think I will be able to. I've posed the idea to the wife, but I don't know if I have a solid "yes" yet

^I'll be bringing Eldar too Silver. It's always nice to have a pointy-eared contingency.
Yeah the Mrs made a noise that sounded like "ok" when I told her about this, but it wasn't a solid endorsement of driving across the country to play toy soldiers.
