Pretty certain I can come too. My better half took a while to convince, but, it seems I'm in the clear! - Probably cost me a lot in Chrimbo prezzies though.

I wanted to bring DE, but i'm not sure I'll get them painted up in time, so it looks as if it'll be SM again. (2,500pts worth now, all to gaming standard! Huzzah!)

So if anyone wants to double up in a imperial vs. whoever, then I'm game!

I'd like to hold doubles games, but to be frank, there's guarantee the number we end up with will be a multiple of 4. If we end up with say, 10 or 11 players, it won't quite work.

Good point - surely it would confuse the scoring also?

Hmm...excellent point there Ian, people might get a bit annoyed if they get a bad pairing matchup, and lose as a result. I think for scoring games, I'll keep it as singles.

Do a doubles game or an Apoc game for people who want to play it as a post-comp "fun" game.

I've never played Apoc because I won't pay £30 for the rules, but I would give it a go. I might even be enthused to build my M61A5.

I think I will have to bring 2 armies - my CSM to actually play with and my Eldar for the Sunday to have a go with.

How does the size of that badboy compare to Forgeworld?

If there is a doubles apocalypse game on the second day, is there any chance of having a narrative story for the first day battles? (I mean after we've sorted what armies we have).

Like in many IA books, the battles on the first day can be used to award strategic assets on the apocalypse game the following day.

[i.e. Battle 1 on day 1 awards the Strategic Redeployment strategic asset to the winner for use in the apocalypse game, a draw means no asset is awarded.]

[i.e.2 The narrative story behind it could be that two armies are fighting for a sensor relay or an orbital beacon essential to the assault/defence of the planet]

This way, we can have a sort of pseudo-campaign with a narrative story and a sort of final last stand battle as an apocalypse game.

I wouldn'y worry about that disty, I hadn't played 5th Ed before the Silver Socrerer event (since 2nd ed!) and got on fine, thanks to the cool people of dakka.

It did show though as I finished 2nd [from last].

I'd played a few times before SS, but it didn't really show as I was right at the bottom of the table

Had never played Nids before either, it was still good fun and I am going to paint up more stuff for next time.

Snarky, to be frank, I'm actually leaning away from the idea of any sort of complications right now, simply because they are just that. Complications. One of the reasons it ran so smoothly before, I think, was because it was so basic and simple. For example the scoring system was:
Win=3 points
Draw=2 points
Loss=1 point.

At the moment, my thoughts are thus.

Day 1

Game 1=500 points combat patrol
Game 2=1000 points
Game 3=1000 points
Game 4=1250 points

Day 2

Game 1=500 points Combat Patrol
Game 2=1250 points
Game 3=1250 points

Then whatever people feel like doing afterwards, as it should be about 3 o'clock. That's time enough for people to squeeze in a large doubles game if they want.

I'd like to hold a 40K trivia quiz over one of the lunches, with a few bonus points up for grabs possibly.

Those are my current inclinations. Nice and simple.

Wow, sounds cool!!! I'm jealous of you Dakka-ites in the UK... but then I guess we'll have DakkaCon here in January, so that appeases my envy a little bit

I'm well up for a quiz. I need a list for each one of those points totals, right? I've never played this crazy escalation game before.

Once we hit 8 people signed and paid up, I'll publish a more exact schedule, and guidelines for lists.

If I can figure out transportation, and there's no major academic thing going on up here, I think I should be able to make it! I'll have to double check though, as I'm not sure when I'm flying back home for Christmas, but provided that I think I'll be able to make it.

Once I've got confirmation, I'll be able to pay. I'll be bringing IG, and assuming Sunday uses Apoc rules (crosses fingers and hopes) I'll be bringing down at least one Baneblade.

I have sent in my monies now.

Would it be possible to attend only on Saturday? I've realized my plane leaves on that Sunday, and I have to be back in Edingburgh by 2p.m. so yeah... Would that be alright?

Are the contraints on choosing a 500pt for any diferant from a 1000pt force. i.e. I assume that they both follow the basic force allocation chart - 1 x HQ + 2 x Troops?

I've worked out I can get to 1,500 without having to resin mould anything, which is a relief as I've never done it before.

I hope it's 1250 points, seeing that's the maximum amount of points I have with me right now.

Red, do you reckon you could find a player for the sunday to take over from Chris? That way, we won't be left with uneven players.
