Firstly thanks to Lennysmash for sorting me out with moving the topic to the correct area!

Right I have searched the loft and found the rest of the Black Reach models and the command squad that I painted a while back now!
So some more photos of what's been done and the Black Reach Models;

And now some more pics of the command squad even the ones that are still wip.

The Apothacary is still a wip, I need to tidy up the white and finish picking up the details

The banner bearer has only had his base colours so far so till a fair amount of work on him!

The company champion

Sergeant at arms

So that is the latest update hoping to get more done with the airbrush this coming week so keep an eye out and I'll post some more pics!

Yes it is a great kit and easily adapted by trimming off the blood angel tears, I did buy the new death company box too which has some great winged items but I misplaced them in the house move last year and can't bring myself to buy another box!

Ok guys I've been painting a marine for the Dakka Space Marine Chapter Conclave and now he is finished so I have started doing a few bits on the Razor back.
No new pics as yet, I'll probably post some soon though! I've free handed a chapter symbol on one side of the Razorback any suggestions for the other side? I was thinking maybe a tactical symbol (arrow) but it does seem a little predictable!

Ok latest models, I have for you a Drop pod, Rhino/Razorback and a landspeeder!
First the Drop pod:

The 2nd Rhino/Razorback, I was short for a hatch so I improvised with a Leman Russ hatch, I'm sure it will look ok once it is painted!

The Landspeeder:

Here is the Assault cannon Razorback wip so far:

Well I'm hoping to do some more tomorrow so I'll update you at the end of the day!

Right been quite busy today and I think it is time for another Army So Far update as I have added a few more models including another Land Speeder!

And a close up of some of those;

I also started on some of the chapter symbols for the terminators, they are first given a base coat of Adeptus battle grey to take the skull white layer better and to give an outline round the chapter symbol.

Well I'm getting on great! The compressor overheated a couple of times and I actually ran out of Scab Red so I need a trip to my local Games Workshop for some more paint before I can finish base coating the entire army!
I have a land speeder tempest from forge world too that I would like to do for the chapter, have to have a bit of a rumage to find it though! I must admit that I thought about making another drop pod land speeder tempest like my ultramarine one, shown here below, but I might save that for another chapter.....
I could take more photos of the build and write a how to blog since there have been many requests!

That's all for today folks!

Its not a drop pod LS its the Delta Flyer. Yes please to the tutorial I've loved that model ever since you first posted it all those moons ago.

Thanks guys.
I forgot to mention I have a land speeder storm waiting to be built and might work well as an even bigger Drop pod land speeder.
I must address some scouts too since they are so in with the fluff on the Raven Guard and this is a successor chapter!

Lol. Sorry. Even bigger will be even better I'm sure, though to be honest I think you should wait for the S-Raven to come out there is bound to be some awesome pieces you could use.

Ok managed to get a little more done tonight! put some shoulder trims on in Iyanden Darksun.
The trick is to be as neat as possible even though it takes a little longer to be neat it saves you time from going over mistakes.
Anyway here's the pic;

Ok guys a dilemma has arisen!
I was in at my Local Games Workshop in Southampton to pick up some more scab red and some scouts and I got chatting to the manager there Rod.
I was describing my latest project and how many assault marines I had as well as the Vanguard veterans and the land speeders and he suggested that
using the Blood Angles army list might suit the make up more than the standard Marine list. Now I still want this to be a Raven Guard successor chapter
but it would be nice to be able to field all those close combat troops and I must admit reading the latest White Dwarf that it would be very cool to be
able to field a Storm Raven as the kit is just soooo juicy! Think on this, I could field 3 x tactical squads, 3 x Assault squads covering the troop choices. In
the fast attack I could have Vanguard Vetrans and Land speeders (up to six!) and in the heavy support I could field at least one Storm Raven Gunship!
All very speedy hit and run units that suit the make up of the army so far, I know that this does make quite a high points cost army and I haven't even
mentioned HQ units yet but it does allow me to keep the feel of my Raven Guard successor chapter. I haven't mentioned Death Company and it doesn't
seem to fit with Raven Guard so I could just not have any but imagine how beardy that would make some close combat units!

Well any thoughts? Does it matter which army list you use as long as the models and paint jobs reflect the ethos of your chosen chapter? Oh and I haven't
even had a read of the Spaces Wolves' codex!

I'm painting some more today so watch this space for another update this evening!

It doesn't matter one jot what codex you use. So long as the models represent that the unit from the codex and so long as you aren't mixing and matching, so say talking Twolf cav and sword brethren then its fine.

I was working on an IF successor chapter using the BA codex. All I planned to do was change some of the names so instead of the DC being blood thirsty, they became zealots.

The tests to charge the enemy I reworded to point out the the marine had been so overwhelmed with hatred and righteous zeal that he charged head long into the fray. You could easily do a similar thing.

OH-I Wanna get out of here

There are many a reason that you could use DC other then "they went nuts cuz its in there blood". You could always change from one day to another which dex you use (advantage of Homebrew). If you want to use an infiltratey shrike army, use codex, you wanna use a storm raven and jump pack librarian dreads, use BA.

That Land Speeder Tempest is sweet. I'd love to get my hands on one of those. Your army's looking great too. Quite sizable, at least IMO.

Sorry for no update yesterday I got carried away with my Death Watch entry for the Dakka painting challenge and didn't do much with my army but at least the entry is finished, photographed and submitted. Took me about four hours so not my best work but still quite nice if I say so myself!
Anyhoo today I got some basic colours on my Black Reach Tactical squad, blacked in areas that got a bit red with the airbrush, put the shoulder pad trim base colour on, painted the insignia and did the basic colours for the purity seals so a good bit of progress for this evening!
Here are the photos;

I'm making a concerted effort to get some painting done this week though I am busy on two nights. Got to keep the momentum going, hopefully I'll be able to play test them soon so I can decide on which type of army list to use.
Keep an eye on the blog!

Ok had a little time tonight to do some work on the Black Reach Serg. Still a wip but got quite a bit done and I think that the sergeants and special characters deserve a bit more time spent on them than the rank and file!
Here are the results!

And a brighter photo from the front just to see if it pick up more detail, not sure if it does I think I prefer the lighting on the top pic!

Well hopefully some more for you tomorrow....

First on the latest update is the Black Reach Tac Squad took some photos on what I've been up to today and to be honest for army painting I think I'm taking too long on them but here they are. They are nearly finished!

I have also blacked in some areas on the Black Reach Terminators;

I've done some of the metallics on the Land Raider, tracks, extra armour and the mega super heavy flamers etc.

And the same with the first Razorback;

Well it's late again and I'm off to bed to get some more done tomorrow!

Great progress on all fronts there mate. Nice work on the Raven too I look forward to seeing it completed.I have mine coming tomorrow but it has to stay boxed until April, once my dissertation is in and finished, :(

Right done a bit more today and finally finished the Black Reach Tactical Squad, they are not up to my usual standard but they are only troops and I've spent long enough already on them! Kept thinking I was finished and then saw another bit I had missed!

I have also started one of my characters, Captain Cadmus so here are the wip pics!

I free painted the Crux terminatus on the right shoulder as well as his name.

I guess its a bit tough to paint AoBR marines when you have a SR to paint.

Its a re-evaluation of Publius Quinctilius Varus. He was the Roman commander that was ambushed in Germania in 9AD and was wiped out along with 3 legions of Roman soldiers. It is looking to re-insert the battle within a context that it has largely been held apart from for a long time.

Here is a quick update on Captain Cadmus;

I had a go at putting an ammo counter on the side of the gun a la "Aliens Pulse Rifle" but I'm not convinced and might paint over it. What do you guys think?

I also found some old Womble marines aka MK VI CORVUS ARMOUR, the only problem is they don't seem to have any back packs and I have no idea where they have got to! I have got another twenty of them too!

I'll see what standard back packs look like!
