@Vandez: Thanks. I too, am excited to see this through to the end.

@Melkhiordarkblade: I know what you mean about the beak. I recall thinking about doing something very similiar to the Beak Doctor way back during the concept stages (which were mostly loose thoughts and rough sketches) but was concerned that it's association with the plague would give off too much of a Nurgle-esque look.

To address both of you: Yea, the beak is long. Really long when you consider the size of the head under the cowl. I def wanted it to be a little bit exaggerated, like something out of a creepy anime. I may still work with it or re-sculpt a new one I've got some time until the wings show up, so I'll probably spend that working on beak options. Either way I appreciate your opinions and feedback!

I personally quite like the long beak

This is a really good concept, it kind of reminds me of this:

But not so gribbly.

I have to agree, the beak is rather large. Reminds me of this fellow here, cool concept though

I recall seeing that at some point and although, mine's coming off similiar, there's something about that guys loincloth that is just not doing it for me. I also would say he's a little to big and muscle-bound for a Lord of Change but there certainly are some similarities. I'm glad you like it, thesearmsarerob!

It's been said before, but the beak is way too big.

Ambitious concept though, good luck.

Just so we're all clear... By too big, do you mean too long or too fat. Like it should be thinner or should it be shorter in your opinion? Or both?

The beak is a tad large, but the eyes are covered! Could you sculpt a smaller beak and leave the eyes visible? I think that would look great! And you might be able to get away with just carving and sanding down the beak you have without starting from scratch. Good Luck! I will be keeping an "eye" on this blog! cheesy, I know...

i think the length is fine, it needs to be much thinner, something like this

Thanks to everyone for their comments!

Alright, the general consensus seems to be to thin out that beak.
I have to say I approve of the length and am going to attempt to keep it as long as it is, but I'm going to try and make it thinner.
I will update as I go.

Thinner should probably be better indeed...

Nice concept though!!!

Yes, the beak length is great although thinner is better. It makes the image resonate with Thoth.

Alright, after taking into consideration the things said above in regards to the beak, last night I managed to sand and trim away at this guy and get his beak to a thinner look. It has lost the bump around the "bridge" and now has no real bend in it.

Still waiting on the wings...

C & C's still welcomed and appreciated!

Thanks for sharing, Santobell!

Alright, I managed to get the beak even thinner and I got the wings I ordered. I ended up going with the Giant Eagle wings from GW.

At this point I'm playing around with the wings, trying to figure out where's best to place them. Personally, I think they look pretty good, but can't figure out how high up his back I want them to sit.

Let me know what you guys think about the wings.

Thanks for looking! Sorry for the photos, I had to use my phone

Up first is a size comparison, so that everyone understands what I'm working with.

This is how they would look sitting up higher on the shoulders:

This is how they would look a little bit lower:

Very cool. Love the Giant Eagle wings.

But I think the beak is still a little big. Specifically - where are his eyes?

I think if you steepled the top of the beak a little bit more it would be a better. Most birds have a top beak that is peaked and a lower beak that is flat and rounded.

Just a suggestion

I think the beak is great now personally. I noticed the lack of eyes but I think it adds to the mystery myself...

@Jackanory: Thanks for tuning in! I'm on board with the beak too. I am missing your scientific scavvies, though.

@Biccat: Ever since this concept started in my head and then on paper, I knew I wanted the LoC's eyes to remain shrowded. Since, Tzeentch sees all possible outcomes and tends to plan accordingly, the eyes need not be out for the demon to perceive his surroundings. In addition, like Jackanory said, it adds to the mystery behind this beast. As for the beak, I know what you mean but I'm not sure I can pull it off.

I didn't mean you had to include eyes, just that the beak should be shaped so that his eyes could see over the thing.

But given the Nightbringer's face isn't completely shrouded by the hood, I think this is a good compromise.

I'm also really curious how you're going to attach the wings. I assume a GS structure, or are you going to cut into the body?

Thanks Josh, glad you're digging the beak and I agree that the pics make it look a little wide from certain angles.

Ah, now I see what you were referring too. I'm hoping to keep it to a GS structure and I'll probably have to pin them. I def would prefer not to have to cut into his body, but I don't think that I will need to.

Also, just a tip, you're probably going to want to mix your GS a little more thoroughly before you put it down. GS doesn't benefit from imperfect mixing like waffles or biscuits. It's more like concrete, in that it just makes it more likely to break.
