Was playing apocalypse against a friend. My 'nids vs. his Eldar. Genestealers infiltrated, took out 2 Fire prisms and destroyed the weapon of another in the first turn.

Was watching two friends play, one had his pride and joy on the table: Steel Legion of the guard. the other was using his SM's

One turn my bud with the guard pulls his LRs up

next turn, my bud with the SMs tried to deepstrike his two termy teams, scatter went to hell, one spawned under the LR's and the other off the board.

Needless to say he was pissed. We figured some techamrine with a sick sense of humor had pulled switch with the guy's beacon and replaced it with a lamp.

and to top it all off, the poor sap's SM captain got nailed by a guardsman with a melta, last of his squad...

that boy's momma must have been so proud...

Through the looking glass

I'll always remember the time I played a nid player and I was using IG. To sum the game up, I got stomped, but on the last turn, I was last to go, and all I really had left was a vendetta. Closest thing to me was a Trygon. I saw there for a moment, then got an idea. I asked him if I could ram it with my vendetta. I told him I knew that it wasn't a skimmer and therefore cannot do such a maneuver, but the book also says that having fun overrides said rules, and as long as he was okay with me doing it, I was going to make the attempt. It's not like it would have changed the game regardless of what happened. Still, I went full speed from like eight inches a way, he attempted death or glory. He didn't roll the six he needed to stop my furious skimmer charge, so we both tried to decide what happened.

A. I just ran into it and blew up, taking out both units.

or

B. I had my vendetta outfitted with super dense wings with the edges sharpened, and in one fell swoop I beheaded the foul beast.

After which my units ran for dear life as the nids prolly chased them down to their graves. Still, I'll always remember that game as a victory for me, regardless of how historians (refs) perceived things.

Mine would have to be Necrons versus Chaos Space Marines.

I drew up a terrible paint rendition of what the battlefield looked like. I had 10 Necron Warriors left, a Nightbringer, and a Monolith on turn 3 opposing two Daemon Princes and a squad of four Plague Marines nearby. This was the beginning of turn 3 when my opponents girlfriend called. While getting up from the table I noticed something potentially magical.

My Monolith was right next to a build that has no fire points and only one access point and almost all of my opponents units are evenly spread about 6" away from each other. So I start my turn by teleporting my Warriors through the Monolith and walk them in the building, the run in the shooting phase to get deeper.

Nightbringer assaults DP #1 and wins 3 wounds to zero.

Turn 4 the Monolith moves to completely cover the entrance. Nightbringer kills off the Daemon Prince.
Turn 5 Nightbringer assaults Plague Marines. They die.
Turn 5 Opponent: DP #2 assaults Nightbringer after a failed Lash on him. Nightbringer wins 2-0.
Turn 6 Nightbringer finishes him.

The Nightbringer single handedly won me the game by 1 KP by just barely catching some really bad positioning against a player who is used to his DP tearing through anything in CC.

This actually happened to my opponent round 1 of a tournament at gencon last year. I could tell from the get-go that it was going to be seal-clubbing, but then to have his dreadnought wreck his land raider turn 1 and then turn around and instant death his commander with another melta shot, I just felt bad. If my gretchin were in range of his marines I'd have had them assault, just so he could kill something.

Back when the "Eye of the Storm" (I think that was the name) Codex came out. My FLGS was holding an Under 18 tournament. I was doing pretty well, my Black Templars marched through the first two players. Then came the final match, before I get to what army the other guy was using let me explain what I remember of the mission rules.

"Eye of the Storm Cleanse(I think.. it's the one where you have to capture table quarters)"

The only way to move around the board is by deep striking using the Ordnance template. It involved something around the lines of the center of the template has to be over the Sergent or leader of the squad. . And the regular 6 turns or until time limit is reached, and whoever has more control of the board wins.

It sounded fun and I was eager to play!

My last and final opponent was a Imperial Guard Tank Army, with Ordnance weapons galore.
Other than the fact that I was pretty much a walking target everywhere I went, it was quite fun DSing around the board. Haha.

The match ended in a draw, I don't know how I didn't get tabled. Defiantly the most Entertaining Moment I've had.

Only Tourney I ever played in, and it was fun to the end. I even won a pack of Warhammer trading cards...

Over 3000Pts Codex: Armageddon. Pulling it out of retirement.. rebuild in progress.

My battlesuits had managed to shoot down the enemy hive tyrant, but now the gaunts with fleet of foot would surely catch them next turn.

Then, both squads failed their synapse test so decided to charge at the devilfish which they had no chance of hurting, my battlesuits sat back and started shooting.

I've had a few.

In my first game of 40k (me playing Imperial Guard and my friend playing Orks), the first shot fired in the shooting phase was from my Leman Russ tank. It fired at a Battlewagon and the shot scattered... onto the rear armour of the wagon, which was destroyed.

Another game, same friend, his unit of Nobs and one of my Guard squads had been shooting eachother all game. They get into close combat and one Nob is left, who slaughters all but the squad's Sergeant, who has a powerfist. The Sergeant then kills the Nob and fails his morale test, after the squad had passed two previous ones.

My best moment was back when I played Sisters of Battle in 3rd Edition; this was at a tournament. My Seraphim were in close combat with an Ork warboss with his bodyguard. The Sister Superior was killed by the warboss, successfully rolled "Spirit of the Martyr", got back up, and then killed the warboss with her power sword by hitting with every attack and rolling full 6s to wound.

Feasting on the souls of unworthy opponents

I've had some entertaining moments with my Necron Deceiver.

-Playing against Dark Angel terminators, Belial and a unit of TH/SS terminators was advancing on my monoliths, and the Deceiver came out to play - I caused 5 wounds out of 5 attacks, and my opponent rolled his invulnerable saves and says smugly, "Made all my saves, let me introduce you to pain." And I said, "What were those dice for?" And he blanches and says, "Oh crap, I totally forgot." And removes Belial and four other terminators. His return swings cause one wound on the Deceiver and he says smugly, "Well, you're initiative 1 now, so I'll go first next turn." We get to his assault phase and he says, "I'm first!" And I said, "I'm not going to stick around to find out....using Deceive to leave combat" and he blanches again. I consolidated out of combat, then assaulted back in during my turn to finish him off.

Sounds like a whole lot of not knowing the rules going on here. =p

The armour facing you hit there is determined by where the firer is in relation to the battlewagon, not where the template lands. And if the Sergeant kills the last nob....he automatically wins combat despite having lost more casualties. You don't take leadership when you've won.

I've picked up quite a few of these.

2e:
The insane multiassault of Abaddon, a Bloodthurster and 30+ Khorne Berserkers vs. a Hive Tyrant, a Carnifex and equal number of genestealers. And yeah, I won the combat. O.O

The time my Tyranid opponent thought that any of his units could come back onto the board in a meatgrinder mission, enabling me to kill all his MCs (Hive Tyrand, 'fex, etc) once per turn with Wraithguard Guided by Eldrad.

5th:
The Commissar with power fist that charged the Avatar of Khaine and killed it. Frak you, Calgar. Frak you.

The Daemon Prince of Tzeench that walked diagonally across the board, slaughtering everything. 10 Harlequins, 8 Fire Dragons, 10 Banshees, 3 War Walkers, 1 Wraithlord, 1 Fire Prism, 1 Wave Serpent, 1 Farseer and 3 warlocks (seer council on jetbikes) killed in a single game. DP only took 2 wounds.

Dark Eldar vs. my friend's Footdar. I kited his Avatar with my Ravager + Reavers, pulling it out of position so I could assault his fire dragons with Wyches and his Howling Banshees with Warriors. The Warriors kill every single Banshee in one turn while the Wyches massacre the dragons. His Dire Avangers attempt to wipe out the warriors with 2 full bladestorms while the Avatar runs back to assault the Wyches. The Warriors survive but flee 12, taking them well away from the battle and regrouping (saving their KP). The Wyches hold out agains the Avatar for the whole game while the Avengers are wiped out by my lone Haemonculus with a Liquifier and Scissorhands (with no pain tokens either, he gave his to the Wyches). It was just brillient to see maenuvre win a game.

This one needs some background. A friend of mine and I, while sifting through our local game shop's terrain(which just sits on a bookshelf for public use) found a Mechadendrite. He plays Guard, I play Marines. Notably, he has a Techpriest engineer in his army; I have a Techmarine in mine. We decide that we'll have a game over it; it goes in the center of the table as an objective the mechanicus units are the only scoring units.

Assault phase, turn 4. His Techpriest stands proud over the Mechadendrite, a squad of Veteran Guardsmen behind him. My Techmarine isn't happy with that and charges, blasting a vet with his bolt pistol. Right afterward, he charges into close combat, and kills two vets with his power sword, another with his servo arm. The techmarine and two remaining veterans both make their attacks, and fail to wound my tech at all. My turn rolls around, and the remaining two veterans are both dead at the techmarine's foot. I can only imagine the priest and marine turning to each other, mechanical screeches substituting for war-cries as their power swords cross. Next phase, the techpriest avoids the marine's blade, and comes close to striking a wound of his own, only to find his neck gripped by the tech's servo arm, and promptly removed from his body. The Marines stand victorious over a bloodied battlefield, and Techmarine Velluk has a new toy to play with.

After gluing it on and painting him, I now count him with a servo harness. A few more promotions and he's Master of The Forge.

Had a game yesterday against Chaos with my Eldar. He drove his Land Raider (loaded with Berserkers) into the midst of my Dire Avengers, killing one with a failed Death or Glory! and shocking the rest of them. The tank unloaded it's passengers, who promptly ganged up on my Farseer, who was reduced to one wound at the end of his Assault Phase. I unloaded my Fire Dragons from their Falcon, and caused the Land Raider to explode, killing an entire squad of Dire Avengers within the blast. Then I got desperate. 'Falcon Punching' my foe, I ran it around the map like a battering ram, shocking the crap out of his units, and killing a bunch of them with failed Death or Glory! attacks. I ended up winning in the end. I love my Falcon.

Been a few stand outs over the years.
40k
I did over my mates guard last year using csm and did the lot losing a biker, 3 thousand sons a few marines and a dread. He wasn't impressed. God bless bikers with melta bombs.

Fired half my army including 2 squads of thousand sons, some obs and a dread at some cc terminators with storm shields and failed to kill any, i swamped them in the end but i've never had such an ineffective shooting round.

1 vanquisher doing 2 land raiders and a pred over the course of a game (last ed FW rules).

Badly lost a cityfight to black templars with my sisters my retributors building was demolished my penitant engine was squished by a chaplain and i killed about five marines for most of my army.

whfb
The other week i was losing to my mates orcs and gobbos and a 25 marauders charged 44 night gobbos in horde formation 3 fanatics promptly appeared i failed the charge hit 2 one of which went out the back of the unit, i broke fled straight back through the same fanatic taking another 2d6 hits i lost 20 models ouch. (not sure we did this bit right we're still learning the new rules)

Lost 25 of 30 clanrats via a hellblaster volley gun (previous ed), i've had better days.

Best game i've ever had was a massive game 2 players a side orcs and skavs V empire and High elves, we correctly predicted they would max out on cavalry and so had a load skav slaves up front and totally whooped them with counter charges from wolf chariots and infantry blocks. The cavalry had to charge the slaves or risk being rank bonused to death or overrun/hold after massacring some slaves and get counter charged.

Played one last night. Team game, 3000 pts per side, Me and another experienced player, playing webway DE and swarm nids VS two inexperienced players, using BTs and BA. We told them they should probably rethink teams, but they insisted on IoM vs xenos. Turn 2 concession after BA was wiped to just one marine, and BT just had 3 min squads of crusaders, a swarmed and soon dead land raider, and a dread left. Hell half of my army wasn't even in from reserves yet. I don't think it was that fun, but it was entertaining to watch all those marines go the wrong way against nids and assault DE (they moved towards us!)

First game with my Daemons- Herald of Khorne on jugg with a squad of 4 divisified bloodcrushers jumped down and landed squarely in front of my friends shooty BT army.

That single squad took EVERY shot from them, all normal bloodcrushers reduced to 1 wound apiece, herald on 2. My army then proceeds to jump down unmolested and then a swift victory.

Herald met a noble end killing the ven dread and dying in the explosion.

For the first three turns any rolls he bothered to say anything about he predicted. Example 1: Attack bike rolling to hit and he says 1's. Result: I roll 1's. Example 2: Scouts taking cover save. Certainly not a victory, though pretty funny in an "ahhhh, dammit" sort of way.

Had a pair of CSM dreadnoughts spend the first two turns of a game shooting each other, then both charge into a brood of genestealers and promptly explode, without killing a single stealer.

Great victory? Having a single 5-man horror squad lock a Trygon Prime in CC for 3 full turns without losing a single model.

My most entertaining moment came from deepstriking a 5-man assault marine squad behind my IG friend's gunline, and using the squad to krak grenade and pummel with a powerfist three chimeras to the point of exploding three turns in a row, before strapping a meltabomb to his most geared out Leman Russ and turning it into a smoking crater. All without taking a loss.

His exact words when I was deep strking them behind his line was "I have more important things to worry about. They'll probably just get tied down in melee anyway."

More important things, eh?
