Great idea, will have to get me some of that... What do you use for the strips in the netting?

I've never seen IG tanks look so much like historical kits before. Fantastic job painting these, I really love all the stowage. Adds a nice touch of realism. I'd love to see some infantry given the same treatment

@ Ruglud : The strips are bits of tissue. I use three ply as for every cut you make, you get three pieces. Same technique to apply as the gause, just go with a lighter shade.

@ Brother SRM : It just so happens that I have a Grunts thread: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/351013.page
and another (just started) for terrain: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/351230.page

Winning! Those tanks simply rule, filthy, gritty war machines, I love it! Seeing tanks like that always makes me want an IG mechanized force.

Impressive. I also like your attention to detail. For instance, your lat Chimera (the one with the FW armored skirts) featured MRE boxes with the crescent moon. I sure hope they were the spaghetti ones!

Incredible work, realism and detail on your models. I love the fact that you made a immobilzed/wrecked tank for your tankboards! Thats a great idea.

@ Tallarn Commander : Glad you liked it, the side armour was made out of plastic card. Totally plagiarized from the FW version; the Chimera was an eBay rescue which once striped of paint revealed a ton of plastic cement, so covering it all up was the easiest option.

@ Element206 : The abandoned Chimera is an old Forge World terrain piece so no modelling skills on my part. It was a niice piece to paint and it's a shame they are phasing out the terrain stuff. Here's some other pic's:

Also made this to go with it.

Another compliment can't hurt: this paint work and modeling work is top notch, incredible efforts and amazing results.
The degree of weathering is perfect.

The vignette with the Necrons advancing around the tank had me getting nervous for that poor guy!.

Wow, your rust effect on the dozer blade is top notch, do you use weathering powders for this?

Still absolutley loving your camo netting, it adds such a great touch to the end products.

Yeah, the rust on the dozer blade is just rust pigment, sfter i took these pictures i noticed that I'd completely missed the sides of the blade out.

@ blackclaw1 : There are a load of infantry in another thread http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/351013.page

@ SilverMK2 : Cheers, I'm glad you like them, most of this was done over the last four years, so it's all been fairly spaced out.

Here's some detail shots of this BB, it was done before I discovered Microscale decal fluids, so some of the decals look a bit cr@p.

Wow, wow, wow... Those close-ups are awesome. The detailing is some of the best I've seen. Reminds me of the photos in the Forge World Modelling Masterclass book.

SUPERB !!

Thanks Ruglud.
I've bought a copy of that book and it's excellent. just a shame I'd made two of these before it was published, I might have done a better job with the decals!
That said Phil Stutcinskas, the chap who did a lots of the models in the Masterclass book was quite an inspiration as I'd seen loads of his work in 1/35 scale military modelling magazines - blokes a genius with a paintbrush.

Here's the pictures of the second one (made Autumn '08), the colours are a little different as I had trouble sourcing the Tamiya TS spray cans I'd used on the first and had to settle for different shades.
I actually prefer the colours on the second BB hence using the same colours on the Destroyer and the Vanquisher

I noticed after these pics were taken that I missed the purity seals on the back end, they have since been touched up.

Love the detail. Do you use these for games or are you doing these amazing tanks for display? if you are using them table top, what do you do to keep the fragile stuff from breaking?

Great color schemes and accessories... Really great job!

Pretty much everything is super glued down, however the sponsons can come off as do the stubbers. The crew are all pined but not glued so can be taken off; the hatches are hinged so will close.

Here's the detail shots:
