Nice work so far, you are certainly well prepared!

Those bases are cool. I think your Land Raider could do with some battle damage, it looks rather clean! The Dread is looking great, nice touch with the chain.

As for your list, are those points from the new codex? If so, they're a lot cheaper than I thought they'd be. I run BA and was expecting the GK to be more on par with the DC marines.

Notice you didn't mention the Dreadknight?

Yes, the list is built off the new codex. They're decently priced - I think the most expensive unit is 130 for 5 GK's base, no upgrades.

And yes, I REALLY want to run Dreadknights - trying to build a list I like that utilizes 3 of them w/ a Grand Master and a couple of Storm Ravens, but having little luck making a combo I like.

The army i REALLY want to build is what I like to call a 'blink' army - one that utilizes a librarian, interceptors, grand master, dreadknights, and various other stuff. The plan with that army would be to deepstrike in as many units as possible (or turn some into scouts and infiltrate them) and essentially plan on keeping the opponent guessing on what's coming next - maybe have the libby port a whole LRR or LRC w/ squad of termies into the fray form back field, or maybe bring a dreadknight off an objective and within striking distance of their dangerous stuff.

That one is a LOT more tricky, since it relies heavily on passing the psychic tests.

any help with that one would be GREATLY appreciated.

SPRING BREAK ATLAST!!!!

And you know what that means? RIGHT!!! 40K!!!!!!!

Here's the update on the redeemer - almost done

Only things left to do are...

1) Paint the multimelta
2) Battle Damage
3) Dirty up the tread edges

Also, threw in a couple pics of the painted Ven Dread - hoping to get that done this week as well after my next plan...

And... that would be to assemble and paint 'Nevermore' - See pics - hope you like the name!

Oh, forgot to mention I've decided the name for the Redeemer, as well as the Soon to Come Crusader.

The Redeemer is 'emporer's wrath' - will simply be dubbed 'Ira'- latin for wrath

The Crusader is 'emporer's mercy' - will simply be dubbed 'clementia' - latin for mercy

Storm Raven 1 - 'Nevermore' - not latin, just BA in my opinion

Storm Raven 2 - UNDECIDED

Ven/Dread 1 - either 'Cato' - good judgement, or 'Elias' - my lord is god

Lol, all of the vehicles/dreads will be named outright before the army is played - will be written on base edges, but the rest of the units shall be named after they prove their worth.

EX- my friend named a Guardsmen 'johnson' after the halo character, after the guardsmen single handedly killed an opponents tank with a terrible, 1 in a million weapon.

THEY MUST WORK FOR THE EMPORER'S RECOGNITION AND PRAISE!

Looking good!

I would recommend a base for the dread though, will look more finished when finished if you get my meaning. (Magnetise the feet if your planning to transport via SR)

As for the 'Blink' army list, I wouldn't worry too much about failing the psychic tests, lets face it, we're marines and if we fail a LD10 test then we should probably be running away anyway!

Nevermore underway - just about to go prime it.

Wanted to show everyone how I'm magnetizing the doors for change out - just in case anyone is struggling with it.

Doesn't look great, but it's quick and simple.

'Nevermore' is well under way - fully assembled - minus the pieces that I'm painting separately before I glue it all down.

Hope you like what you see. I know I do!!! Still got quite a bit more to go, and a lot of minor detailing, but all in All I'm very satisfied.

Also, hope you like the magna-winch I added to the tail. Not pretty (YET, I'm working on it!), but does the job right!

Wow. i like the way that you are deploying the dread. Jobs a good un so far.
i assume that you are going to wash the whole thing with blackwash and then re drybrush with highlights after is all done. something like that will really bring up the level of the detail.

thanks for the kind words!

And yes, I shall be washing the whole model in a superthin wash of baddab black before the end. Just learned from the redeemer that it's easier to just paint over excessive detail colors then wash than to wash and try to blend multiple layers of washes together... least that's the idea.... we'll just have to see!

Thing I like the most about them is that (and i JUST found this out working on the removable guns on the front of the raven) they can be readily clipped in half.

REALLY helps.

Great lookin' land-raider! I think the white is/was much improved on the tattered scrolls... Are you planning any battle damage for that model or Nevermore? The melta heads look good on the LR!

Thanks! And I'm not sure at this point about battledamage. I'd thought about it.... but I must can't decide. I think it would really bring the models to life, but thing is I'm not sure I'm going to dirty up the actual infantry models yet. If i did though, then I'd guarantee the vehicles would be torn to hell.

If you have any suggestions, they'd be more than welcome.

Love the chain to attach the dread. I may have to revisit mine now as I didn't bother doing anything like that. So simple but so effective!

Nice work so far. I love the bases. Everything looks to be painted in typical Grey Knights colors and style. My only recommendation would be to wash the silver with badab black. This will give it a more worn feeling and also ahs the potential to provide a variety of battle wear to the vehicles. Further more, with the silver toned down a little, you can go back over the edges with silver and really make the highlights stand out. best of luck!

Thanks! It's my favorite part of the dread. All it took was a $3 pair of earrings from walmart and I'm rolling in more chain than you can shake a stick at!

Looking sweet, the thing I would say about weathering is that if you do it to the tanks ( bar exhaust fume etc, stuff that only tanks have) you will have to do the troops like that as well. And with the bases that you have it will have to look just like dust because mud is out of the question I would say, just my opinion

Not sure if it makes a difference, but really the only "weathering" I was planning or even considering doing outside of smoke (exhaust ports, engines, etc) was going to be battle damage and a light drybrushing of the same base colors to make it look like dust as you suggested.

My biggest concern is whether or not I'll be able to make the troops look similar enough to make it convincing.

Looks good! Have you thought of applying a shade to the recesses, though? Maybe there is one, but the camera's flash takes the good of it away... Shading will add a lot of depth to your model and bring out the details.

Thanks! I've been working on several test batches of washes (particularly blue) to apply to recesses. And as of yet, I have not planned on putting too much black in the crevices yet. It may happen, but the blue is the big challenge right now.

Looks great!

I would consider shading the recesses as suggested by others and also drilling the gun barrels. If you don't have a drill then painting black dots would also help!

Must admit though the GK colouts do work better than BA!

That's the one thing that has truly surprised me about GK's. The GW colors blend together easily - giving the best of both worlds; cohesion and variance. The default boltgun metal and skull white, when washed with watered down baddab black wash with royal blue and mechrite red just look outstanding. That's really all I've done so far.

Now for the Asurmen Blue wash.... terrified is putting it mildly.

Great looking army i really like the landraider the book on the front makes it and the chain hanging from the dred is sweet !

Great looking bases did you buy them or make them yourself ????
