HELLO MY FELLOW GAMERS!!!

After an unnecessarily long sabbatical of updating, I am happy to report that the Painting bug is BACK!!!

So, here are pictures of my newest almost finished model (yes, I still have yet to FINISH one, but it's very close!!!)...

Justicar Dominick in Terminator Armor.

I'm REALLY happy with how he's turned out. And since all the tough stuff is done, all I need to do is paint a couple pieces and he's FINISHED!!!! Then, I plan to man up and just paint Janua's Force Halberd and so that I'll have 2 completed models.

Also on the gaming front, I have continued to grow the sport here and can happily report two new Blood Angels players have joined our fray! (not excited about the BA part, but to each their own) Also found another resident on my floor who used to play and is bringing up his Eldar and Imperial Guard forces next time he goes back home.

Brings my total recruiting of members since last year to:

1 x IG player
1 x White Scars Player
2 x BA player

then the rejuvination of an eldar/ig player. At this rate my dream of opening a hobby shop in town does not seem so unrealistic haha.

So yeah, good to be back and expect much, much more.... if tests/team projects don't kill me first...

Thanks! I also like the pose, but here are some more with the hand/arm differently set up. YAY MAGNETS!!!

And after today, I'll have some more free time (DAMN TESTS AND GROUP PROJECTS!!!!) to get him finished up tonight. Then on to play DARK SOULS!!!

Lol think that's how I'm going to get more production done. Reward myself for painting with games. Might work haha.

Thanks! And highlighting is one of those things I'm not well versed at as of yet. It's going to have white lettering and a border around the inner edge before it's complete, possibly an =][= as well, but it will not look plain like it is now.

Well, things are slowing down again, giving me some more time to work on the army. Here's my struggle: What to do next?

Painting is always my priority, because it goes SO SLOW. But I just don't know what to do when I don't have time to paint. I have work here in a few minutes, which is a perfect example. I can't paint, but I could easily work on stuff. Just deciding what to do is the struggle.

Any suggestions?

To Recap:

20 x GK's to paint
9 x Termies to paint
20 x GK's to assemble
10 x Termies to asemble
2 x Dreadknights to assemble (other one is waiting for base)

Just needing some help making a decision.

As of yet, no new updates with the Rhinos. Struggling to get tape patterns cut out for airbrushing. Any suggestions?

HOWEVER, did get in my bases for the Dreadknights and Stormraven's. Gonna attempt to get a mockup of the DK pose finished at work.

Also have decided to start work on Mordrak's Ghost Knights. They're using 3rd party bits for legs. Makes them look much larger than standard Termies, but I think it makes them stand out better.

Well, after a lengthy wait, here they are!

My first five Ghost Knights, Dreadknight, and my very happy to have finished Grand Master Mordrak!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK!!!

Debating on adding cherub (see pics below) to Mordrak's back to help distinguish him a little more and make him see that much more awesome. Thoughts?

Next on the list is to paint. I haven nothing left to assemble right now that is of any real importance. Need to paint paint paint!!!

This week will be busy though with the release of Battlefield 3, but I'm sure I'll find some time to get the knights washed at least.

Well, looking forward to hearing what you think of my progress!

Mordrak model looks amazing....but I'm not a fan of the helm. I've never been a fan of bare-headed SM...but something just seems off about it.

Either way, it looks sweet, I especially like the Cherub idea. Great work on all 6 models mate!

Now i see that the piston arms on the "baby carrier" are magnatized, are they aposable enough to emulate dynamic poses, if so can we see some pictures. Otherwise I am overall greatly likening this blog.

Thanks for the feedback. I agree, something doesn't seem quite right about the head. I completely agree with you about the ridiculous logic behind not wearing a helmet in battle.

But truthfully it was the best way I could think of to set him apart as a truly special character. The plan is to paint the sash the same color with the hood to try to tie the whole model together a little bit better. But I'm still looking for any other options that may present themselves to make him look more BA. Also glad you like the whole pack of them haha, they really turned out better than I had hoped. And as far as the cherub, I'm going to try to get the mockup of it done this weekend if at all possible.

medabee wrote:Now i see that the piston arms on the "baby carrier" are magnatized, are they aposable enough to emulate dynamic poses, if so can we see some pictures. Otherwise I am overall greatly likening this blog.

Well, the pistons are poseable, and if you trim the little bit of plastic guide meant to limit their movement in the socket, they really are able to look just about any way you want. I can spin them a full 360 in the sockets. The arms, in this case, are stuck in the default pose so I cannot show you any more dynamic poses. My other two Dreadknight's will have dynamic poses, so I'll be sure to put pictures up as I get a chance to work on them. And glad you like the blog! I'm trying to keep things moving and include the community on Dakka because criticism makes for improvement.

Once again hitting the table, the Legion squared off today for it's first bout against the forces of chaos!!!

THE LISTS - (AS BEST I CAN REMEMBER THEM)

Chaos Marines: 1505 pts

3 x Chaos Termies (TL Bolter, Terminator Lord w/ 2 x Lightning Claws, 1 x Flamer?)
3 x Chaos Termies (1 x Reaper Autocannon, 1 x Combi Melta, XXXXX?)
6 x Lesser Summoned Daemons
1 x Defiler (Reaper Autocannon, Flamer thing)
10 x Black Legion Squad (Don't know what they had, but were in a Rhino w/ Daemonic Posession & Havoc Launcher)
10 x Plague Marines (2 x Meltas, not sure about the rest - Mounted in Rhino w/ Havoc Launcher)
2 x Obliterators
5-6 x Plaguemarines
1 x Daemonprince

Grey Knights:

6 x GK's (1 x Psycannon, 1x Daemonhammer - Razorback w/ TL AC & Psybolt, Hunter Killer Missile)
6 x GK's (1 x Psycannon, 1x Daemonhammer - Razorback w/ TL AC & Psybolt, Hunter Killer Missile)
6 x GK's (1 x Psycannon, 1x Daemonhammer - Razorback w/ TL AC & Psybolt, Hunter Killer Missile)
1 x Librarian (Shrouding, Sanctuary, Smite, Might of Titan)
2 x Techmarines (2 x OSR, 2 x Storm Bolter)
2 x Psyfleman Dreads
1 x Vindicare Assassin

GAME TYPE: Annihilation - Pitched Battle Deployment

The Plan:

My idea was to try something new with this run of the list, so I chose to run OSR's for the big guns. Didn't find out until after the game started that I had ZERO knowledge of how they worked, and all my previous assumptions were straight up wrong. ALMOST GAVE UP RIGHT THERE. Glad I did not haha. Rest of the list was built for Maximizing RANGE & NUMBER OF SHOTS. I'd never played chaos before, and I was a bit terrified when he dropped a Defiler and a Daemon Prince on me.

I rolled off and lucked out to go first. I chose to deploy so as to get some shots off with my Hunter Killers first to try to get some real damage done before he could react. To say the first turn went well, is an understatement.

TURN 1: Ended with me Exploding Rhino 1 with the Black Legion dudes in it, Killing off both Obliterators, and Taking out his Defiler as well - This was all thanks to my Two Dreads, a couple hunter killers, and my Vindicare's Turbo Penetration shot.

From then on out, the game was fairly uneventful. Took some time for him to get closer to my units, and was turn 3 before he started taking out some of my guys. Was a REALLY GOOD GAME, but it was just pretty standard. Neither of us made any real fatal mistakes that I saw, and we ended up calling it at the bottom of Turn 4 because I'd taken out his other rhino, his Termi Lord's squad, and had his other termies retreating for their table edge. Also whittled his other squads down some.

All in all, it was a worthy battle and I'm pleased at the result - the result being that I now know I need to read the rules of my Codex MUCH BETTER. It's embarrassing to talk of throwing in the towel before the game starts just because you find out your OSR's can't direct hit lol. I'll admit, I made an @$$ of myself, and for that I apologize to my friend.

Also got Mordrak's Cherub attached and finished, so look for pics of that soon. Decided this week to put more emphasis on the Mongers, so keep an eye on that blog. That's about it for now.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN and look for more soon!!!

Made a push this past weekend, and was able to accomplish the following:

Base coated...
1 x Librarian (didn't like how it was going, so tried again)
1 x Rhino (3 x Razorback turrets too)
6 x PA GK's (that needed touched up)
1 x Dreadknight
Plucked 2 x 2'' foam trays for my Battlefoam case - All Knights now fit in one case.

Assembled...
12 x PA GK's

At this point, this is what I have left to assembled:

2 x Dreadknights
8 x PA GK's
4 x Termies (May make 2 ghost knights, 2 paladins, or some combo there of)
1 x Libby (got a new stormbolter from GW)
1 x Techmarine
1 x Stormraven
1 x Kaldor
1 x Castellan

Two weeks from now is Fall break, and the plan right now is to get the paint on the models. This is what I'm projecting for the next 2 weeks:

Week 1:

Assemble 8 x GK's - Prime/Basecoat 20 GK's - Start washing of all models

Week 2:

Finish Washing of all models - Start Pushing through the gold trim on all normal Units (1 Termie for every 5 PA GK's)

Thanksgiving break:
Goal is to have atleast 2 fully painted GK squads. Going to work on painting special characters (Mordrak, Inquisitor, Vindicare, Techmarine, Librarian) When I start to get bored/tired of painting so that I keep myself fresh.

Sorry for no pictures, but once the last few knights are basecoated I'll throw up an entire army pic to see how far we've come.
