Yeah the ab muscle structure is a bit unusual, but I put this down to the sculptors trying to get across the image of a creature with more testosterone than a double-y chromosome steriod addict...

As for the sang guard theory, I find this plausible, the orks and blood angels have had a long rivalry since armageddon, perhaps it was a ploy by the blood angels to exact revenge on the orks for being a cc-oriented codex that wasnt given the Ward treatment...
