I guess it isn't too bad if you get the scenic base as well as just the Captain.

Finecast... sigh. The stuff I have to put up with to because I hate metal figures. :/

Runnin up on ya.

Wow, what a great idea; the 25th anniversary of their biggest money-maker and they're touting a huge release of something completely different. Brilliant.

Not saying LOTR doesn't deserve an update but a month later wouldn't have made a huge difference...

Don't get me wrong, I'm a massive fan of W40k and would much prefer February to be a 40k release month.

But has anyone considered the fact that GW may be building up to releasing a load more 40k things all in one go, as in 3 or 4 months of mainly 40k things with the odd bit of Fantasy and LOTR thrown in to keep everyone happy?

Then why wouldn't they start doing that, you know, during the month it actually occurs in? Naw, there's no rhyme or reason to it; I'm a stock holder and I can't even work out their business model, just random....random I say!

My first White Dwarf was the release issue of WH40K.

That was September 1987. [checks watch]

SEPTEMBER!

You have shot your bolt early there GW!

25Euros (£18?) is a bit strong even considering the base etc. which I assume is included.

LotR - Meh!

Was Feb. the exact month that 40k was released in?

Perhaps GW are starting the LotR ball rolling now and picking it up towards Christmas/Q4, with the rest of the year being a creamy 40k centre. Disappointed at the lack of Necrons, but ho-hum.

Not a fan of that model mind you.

Oh geeeezzzzz..... so this LOLTR crap is actually true :/ What a waste of time :( Where are our 2nd waves?!

Your second wave SHALL NOT PASS!!

Whatever I'm sure it makes some gamers happy to see it on the cover, but they miss their chance for some giant 40k 25 year mega white dwarf.

You would think they would make a book with all the history and fluff changes and model progression over the 25 years and sell it in Gdub stores with a free oop mini and gain profitsiz. GW needs better marketing, maybe even a commercial during Clone Wars or something.

Every Dakkanaught gets a 4+ Pinch of Salt save.
When you suffer a Falling Sky hit, roll a D6 - on a 4+ the hit is ignored as per the Pinch of Salt save. On a 1-3 panic insues - you automatically fail common sense tests for the next 2 weeks and get +7 to your negativity stat. -Praxiss

Curious question - what's missing from the LoTR range? Or are they adding new things in as they make them up?

Because, the Tyranid codex came out....how long ago?

Oh look, still missing half it's range.

From all appearances, it's the START of the 25 Anniversary, not the full celebration.

Therefore, it makes sense to throw the LotR players a huge bone before the main party takes over the rest of the year.

But by the time they sort out all the Failcast problems with the collectors figs and get everyone replacements, it will be September. All according to plan

what they should of done is recast up a load of rt1 palstic marines included one with the mag {made them only avalible with the mag} and had a bigger page count and pushed it as a special edition pack with the mag and the mini for £10 or so .they would of flown of the shelf.

That model would be much better if they stayed true to the art and didnt change the weapon into a plasma pistol. Part of the cool of RT era stuff is the "WTF is that?" you get from some of the art & sculpts.

I like the model, however it will probably be close to $40 and it will be in Finecast I'm sure. Which begs the question what do you do with a limited finecast model that you have to return because it is miscast?

I'm assuming it's a limited edition, I could be wrong.

It's the 25th Anniversary of 40K, and to celebrate here are 5 Lord of the Rings rulebooks and an issue of White Dwarf filled with Lord of the Rings goodness.

Oh and some Finecost Crimson Fist, 'cause nothing says 'Celebrate 25 years' like a model that will no doubt be filled with all sorts of miscasts, deformities and airbubbles.

Scroll up a bit. The 25th Anniversary isn't until September. (That and it was insightful the first three times someone said it.)
