lol, I feel the same way. I also just came back after a 10 year break, and dusted off the old Nikon Coolpix that was all the rage for mini photos back then, and... colors were good, but so much more detail with my modern phone camera. :(

Better? That guy looks pretty awesome.

If you are talking mechanics, powersword/stormbolter is a little lackluster. Count that as a relic blade and it’s a not bad, inexpensive TAC build.

Yeah, currently I run him as Chapter Master with a Storm Bolter and Relic Blade. He's pretty brutal in CC

By better I mean that I feel my conversion skills have improved since building this guy and I want to see how well I can do. The one I am working on does not use any pre-existing model like how this guy is based on the AoBR captain.
I'll be running the other guy as an Astorath the Grim 'Counts As'

good to see you're still painting, sadly, my salamanders have kind of died.

@the shrouded lord - Ah that's a shame, I don't tend to see too much Salamanders stuff on Dakka. As for Pellas, he's rather an old model now. He's been re-based since this photo, just a tidy up of the lava, but certain aspects such as black or red highlights are certainly lacking compared to my recent efforts.

@jb1981 - I'm still eternally jealous of the amount of Forgeworld goodness you come up with. I'm desperately hanging on for FW to do some Salamanders stuff, but it seems Iron Hands and Mechanicus are all the rage now. Neverthless, your Salamanders are still looking great!

@optometris - That, I like. The Mk III helm makes him look very knightly and I guess it's quite appropriate seeing as the Black Templars are 2nd Founding, so they'll have access to a fair bit Great Crusade and HH stuff.

once I find a technique I like they will probably come back.
