I think I know what I was trying to say now and how to word it better. Regarding the average person's awareness of DC and Marvel, if you asked somebody on the street to name three characters from both, you would always get the same three names for DC, but you would get different names each time for Marvel.

That's a good question!
We can only guess, of course...
So:
1) Manipulated into it by Lex, setting up Superman as either a prospective/eventual Alien Menace/Conqueror or
2) Using public sentiment over the wide-scale destruction in Metropolis to somehow get Batman to fight Superman.
Though without that Kryptonite ring/arrow, it is going to be a short fight.
3) Batman himself somehow sees Superman as a menace and decides to beat him up - during/after which he decides he's not so bad and that they should in fact form a Super Team?

So is Batman meant to have already had his career by this point?
That voice over about asking him if he "can bleed" from Bats to Superman sounds a bit odd.
I honestly don't know why they did this particular plot line so early.
It's something they could have done at the end.

Supposedly Batman has been fighting in Gotham for years but is considered a myth for the most part. Unless he put you in the hospital of course.

I know it's just a teaser. But the title of the movie is Batman Versus Superman: the title itself "teases" that they are going to fight. All the teaser adds is, the lighting of this movie will make it as hard to see as Bane's voice was hard to understand. And the only answer I have as to why Batman and Superman are fighting is, because Warner Brothers is fighting Disney.

They really didn't. Batman has detective skills, intellect and peak human athletic ability. Nolan Batman had none of those. The only Batman-esque thing that happened in those films was lathe phone tracker which was made by Lucius Fox.

Agreed - Virtually nothing in the Nolanverse was Batman -or Joker or anything else really from the comics............the 2nd one was just a hugely overlong wet dream about a Super Mary Sue "terrorist" with almost an impecable prediciton ability and relyed heavily on setpieces to limop along till the bitter end.
Man of steel was a bit better - although the whole Kyrpton sequences were eyewatering bad and the end fight horribly dull - and of course he is now there apparently to protect the USA and not the world......

I'm pretty sure that's been the case in almost every Superman iteration I've seen. In any case, the big thing that he's carrying over his head in the trailer? That's something from the Russian space program.

I don't know, I think they're just trying to be too serious and DAAAAAAAARK! with this movie.
To be perfectly honest, I was more interested in the idea of this film before I saw this teaser.

They could be fighting, because, after all, does the common man really know that Superman is one of the good guys? We know it because we watched Man of Steel. But, to the normal person within the setting, they know that Zod came looking for a fugitive, Superman appears, and the world nearly went to crap. Superman won the fight, but does that really prove he was the good guy? How do people know Superman wasn't behind the invasion, the big terraforming machine, etc.? Sure, the government may know the truth, but not everyone trusts the government, and, since Superman won, history is written by the victors, right? Superman's gotta prove it, and that can be hard. EDIT: I mean, it wouldn't be too hard for someone to engineer a situation that makes Superman look like the bad guy, and Batman may feel he is the only one who can take him. Particularly if, through his contacts, Batman may have gotten a bit of that Kryptonian combat suit tech to research.

Im almost wondering if we've all got the wrong end of the stick, and it's not Superman that's the 'bad guy' but Batman. Alfred's line 'it's that feeling of powerlessness that turns good men cruel' might in fact be a reference to the Caped Crusader himself, who for some reason takes it upon himself to take down Superman purely for himself, as he feels (rightly or wrongly) that Superman has no place on Earth.
I think that would be an interesting twist, considering that I think everyone is expecting Bats to be the one standing up for the common man.

See, I think this trailer might be slight-of-hand. What if that line doesn't refer to Supes or Bats, but someone else? Someone who has plenty of power, but can't do the things that Superman can do, is ultimately powerless against him, and is *forever* jealous of him because of it? Someone with legendary cruelty?
Additionally...what if that voice at the end isn't Bruce's?
Tannhauser42 wrote:They could be fighting, because, after all, does the common man really know that Superman is one of the good guys? We know it because we watched Man of Steel. Like I said in my post a page or so ago, it's *VERY* reasonable IMO that Bruce and Clark would view the events of Metropolis *VERY* differently. Each has a somewhat different perspective forged by the particular events of his "creation." A nudge here, a nudge there, and suddenly some friction becomes a fire. How hard is it to start a fight with someone in real life?
Considering my entire post here...what cruel individual could possibly be behind all of this?
