More ‘top of body/under jaw’ work completed, to allow for head and body armour panels to be applied:

This body vent/cog/grating work will allow the shoulders and shoulder pads to be able to be finished along with the reactor top+piping

More head work done:

This is a bit off putting, lots of bolts added to the top of the head making a crown effect before the armour paneling is added. I’ve added more hex bolt heads all over the model but this pic shows the greatest concentration of them.

Lots more bits arrived from all over the world so solid progress soon!

Test overlapping Armour panel Time:

Pro tip: Test somewhere out of sight (around the back of the head)

I know it looks a bit bare but I have left some space for some more bits that are coming from the most ORK beloved FOX BOX!

More rear base exhaust/pipe work completed

I added a PUPPETWARS multi wound counter to the top of the engine deck

That’s some serious pipe work! The whole thing is looking really Orky and busy. How tall is it so far? It looks about 2-3 foot to me

Yeah there is a lot of detail (much more to come)!

23” tall (the same height as a Warlord Titan).

More engine/deck work completed with bits added from FOXBOX and 3 out of 4 exhausts finished off:

Still amazing how you move forward with this, when do you expect to be done with the body before the painting stage commences? And that'll be some paint you will be needing, for priming alone

This is a very exciting project! The mekboy gargant was always my favorite.

My first game with Terror-Watt is in 10 weeks. I hope to have the build phase completed by then (minus the rivits) after the rivits I will the priming... this will be a multi primer project and I suspect the self etching grey car primer will have a significant roll to play
Illumini wrote:Cool build, and love the little background blurb.

Thank you very much, I LOVED writing up the backstory/fluff piece as well. I’m aiming to incorporate the gantry and blast door (from the story) into the bottom rear of the reactor/engine on the Gargant. “God is in the detail!”
Pariah Press wrote:This is a very exciting project! The mekboy gargant was always my favorite.

Mine too, I’m loving being in lockdown for 4 weeks! It sure helps progress the project! I might even get the rivits and primer done before the first APOC game

Last exhaust stack completed with more engine deck detailing... I can confirm that I already hate rivits:

Cool array of exhausts! The last one looks like a massive gun cooling jacket. Good luck with all of the rivets, I hope you’ve got something to help with your sanity through that process, you’ll need it me thinks

Thanks, I was trying for differential symertery and very happy with the result

First should tower and void shield array near completion:

Lots of piping and details to come.

Favourite detail: the spade (thanks FOXBOX)

An epic day... Progress!

1. Distressed the final void shield array
2. Made a final detail for the side of the head (now I can complete the head armour FINALLY!!)
3. Re-made the left arm mount and fixed a newly arrived toy that fires a dart very slowly via a crank handle on the body side of the arm of Terror-watt. I’m going to remake it into 6-8 barrels for more chunkyness/closer to original art.

Full photo shoot for scale (grot on base... thanks ARTEL W!!!!)

Thanks, there is just sooo much detail that I have to take small piece pics. I can’t wait to get stuck into the armour paneling!
gobert wrote: all of the bits looked good on their own, but together ! Great stompy pose he has going too

I’m super stoked with the pose too, it’s very much like the original 80’s art (it really helps to have a good plan)!

Side project progress: Stompa squad!

This is the first of 3x eBay rescue Stompas and I’m going to make a Kustom Zappa for the incomplete arm on Tuesday night, more pics to come!

Thanks and honestly the size is quite daunting but... it makes working on a Stompa seem like a walk in the park!

I have been working on the back of the head again and fitting the awesome bits from FOXBOX (one of my favourite Ork bits suppliers) for added detail:

The next step is more armour plating around the ear and working on detailed armour around the right ‘ear’.

Really incredible. And so much hard work that I'm sure will really pay off up close in real life. Will he be on display anywhere once he's completed?

Thanks, I haven't even considered displaying Terror-Wat after panting/completion, I’m more focused on the finish line!

More progress today, finishing the back of the head to a more satisfactory state:

And then moving around the head to the left eye with armour plating:

This was a lot of fun and the extra detail really pays off here, I’m deliberately adding a lot of detail to the head as it’s a main focal point of the model.

2.5 hours work on The right side of his head today:

This are need a good amount more detail, but I won’t do more detail and piping until I finish all the major armour plating groups on the head!

I estimate I have another 7-8 hours/3 days to spend on the head before I complete the head!!

All head armour plating completed!!

And I’ve started on the head detailing plus piping... more pics to come.

I have also been working on the Zappa template for the 3 members of the Mek Stompa squad:

I love the shape!! This was my first time creating a 3D weapon from scratch and I’m delighted with how it turned out! This base will be added to the other 2 as they get nearer to completion.

Thanks, it’s amazing how little progress I’m making despite all the time I have. I just can’t compromise on the quality at all!!

A lot more detailing done around the shoulders with piping and base plating done, the best single pic is of the front of the left shoulder pad:

The next step is to finish the back of the shoulder pad and the do a heap of large checkers (black and white of course) on the outer shoulder pad!

Rear left shoulder pad work with added pipe work and housings.

I’ve got a world of checkers in front of me now, and have to find a good way of doing them.

That's quite a project, and you seem to be making great progress with it! It looks like you can really match the GW parts with your scratch-built ones and that's really impressive, especially in models this large.

This is an awe-inspiring project mate! I thought it was looking good when it was just buckets and plumbing fittings but the amount of detail you're putting in is mind-blowing and the results are incredible.

Love the art inspiration - the pose is definitely a winner. That's something that always bothered me about the stompa models with their crazy maxi skirts and shuffling feet. This is dynamic and super orky. Excited to see what comes next!

Thank you very much for your very kind words, it’s just a matter of time And good materials with the detail. And I have a good bit of extra time ATM.

Thanks For following the progress for so long and for the appreciation! ‘God is in the detail!’

A good bit of concept art helps soooo much and I love dynamically posing ANY model a make, it gives a real sense of movement and STOMPYNESS!

Some good checker progress on both outer shoulder pads (Gaz the Grot in frame for scale) with the left shoulder nearing completion!
