Cool theme and the perfect excuse to paint those mild-mannered men of the cloth to accompany my equally non-zealous Sisters into battle.

I refuse to open my stuff in blister packs. I have the first metal necron with the white dwarf it came with, and a RT era terminator. I'm not usually one for the whole geek, not opening boxes thing but I cant with these.

I have to wait a few days for my enamel to dry on the main bodies, I really need to get better base coat,

I will start on the weapons and shade the backpacks in the meantime.

I don't really have anything to fit the theme, so excuse the stretches...

Syll'Esske/The Bogatyr 'cause I've entered it before and four Possessed 'cause the sculpts are old.

Thinking of taking part with this. It's a conversion I did a couple of months ago from the shokkjump dragsta kit. Been waiting for the right time.
The base model is far from old and definitely not a classic. But maybe you could say that in the world of 40k a mad maxey style vehicle powered by a good old carbureted V8 engine is... classic tech?

I might figure out something else. If I do, I will post a new proof pic.
Or if this entry is not sufficient for the theme.

Okay, as promised here's the proof:

2 concerns:
1) Logan Grimnar's armor was basecoated previously but I never got any further on the model. I can still enter it since it's only one color right?
2) Technically Azrael is 2 models since he's accompanied by his helm bearer. Do I need to leave out the helm bearer for my final entry so that it's 5 models?

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000

I'm pretty much set on fire dragons, though I've got so many eldar models I want to paint. The good thing about collecting eldar is that virtually all the models could be considered retro! And by "good", I mean "update the damned line, GW!!!"...

I'll post proof pics in the next few days.

Here's my proof pic and a little progress pic too. Harlequins of the masque of the soaring spite. Pretty sure these are the oldest models I have, they are stamped 1988 but I bought them 3 or 4 years ago.
Going for a couple of quartered schemes and diamond schemes where I can. This is my first time painting Harlequins so feedback and tips especially appreciated for this month.

Well, I thought the theme was going to be more retro than aged, outdated or historical, so my original idea to do Sally Starfield from Bombshell Miniatures will remain on the backburner for now.
Spoiler:
Which means I had to look for other options - and preferably not more Chaos Warriors or Chaos Marauders/Thugs. I could go head to head with previous (monkeytroll) or current (Snrub, JoshInJapan) entries:
Spoiler:
More likely I'll do one of these, leaning towards a Chaos Sorcerer:

A "better" proof when I've chosen / stripped.

The more I work with these miniatures, the less I'm impressed with them. It's going to take a long time to get these to the standard that I can more easily achieve with Citadel miniatures. I have a lot to paint, so I think I'm going to try to find short-cuts whenever possible.

For these, I primed them with Citadel Wraithbone, then shaded with Contrast Apothecary White, then drybrushed them with Vallejo Dead White. I'm reasonably satisfied with this stage. Here's a WIP picture.

So, had some pretty bellicose, outlandish ideas when I first bought this mini. Parts in hand? Looks like some of those ideas just might not be feasible...

...however. First batch of parts I got off of a Japanese second hand site just landed. Initially, I hadn't planned to include the torso - I was hoping a little to hang on to it, as it also came with a 'nid Warrior(?) head. Just for funsies, because I wanted to extend the torso/shoulders, I test-fitted it and...

...I think it works? I'm gonna hold off until those those final parts land. Should be tomorrow or Saturday. Nothing major, really. I also repaired some cosmetic damage at the temples, by adding some neat little mandible/antennae/psyker dongers. I quite like 'em.

Lemme know what ya think!
