I've found the Tomb, I've found Lost Iziath, and I've found the New Londo (obviously), but I have NO idea as to where Duke's is.
Go to Anor Londo bonfire. Exit and go left to the three gold giants. Kill the giant that is by itself. Behind it is a forest path that will lead to the archives.
Ask yourself: have you rated a gallery image today?

From Anor Londo Bonfire, right side goes back to the gargoyles that took you there
left side is the gate that was previously sealed, now open.

Dragon Covenant includes Hallow area? That place is frustrating if you have fear of heights xD it has a decent ring.
Then dragon area... lots of dragon scales, and a dragon tail weapon. Nothing that important unless you like dragon weapons.
Lost Izalith... good for Demon Titanite farming, I would do any sort of farming last.
Duke's Archive. I like it, quite refreshing and bright for a dark game ( ok I spent too long in catacombs xD )
Has tons of nice treasures as well! though mostly caster stuff...

Whenever i step into the Dukes Archives i start to violently foam at the mouth! I do not know why but i had THE most difficult time against Seeth. Oddly though i loved the catacombs probably since Nito was a pushover.

Seeth is a confused emo dragon, sometimes it keeps throwing tentrums with his tentacles , at other times he just sloooowly sloooowly
slooowly comes to you.
Just go from one wall to the furthest wall, and shoot some cross bow in between.
If it feels like doing breath on you, sneak some melee in too.
And yay finally finished Dark Souls, without multiplayer help!

My consistent problem with him was whenever i got into his room with that little crystal thingy i had to smash he just unleashed his curse attack and insta gibed me. When i finally did kill him it was only because some poor schmuck got hit with his tail tantrums and i ran in 2handing my weapon.
And i just realized that i have yet to beat this game and i have had it since release....
Fafnir wrote:How does he instagib you with his curse? It builds up fairly slowly. Just run out of the crystals and you're fine.
I had very and i mean VERY low curse resist at the time, that and the occasional time of not knowing what to look for so i was right against him when he did it, that and probably a few good bouts of lag

Hmmm... when i fight large bosses, I never look at them, i do what i need to do by listening ( because large bosses are too huge for me to see anyways,
Like yay i see his 1 toe xD ) So when ever I hear seth roars, I start strafing side ways dodging his curse mist or crystal ( and most importantly his emo tantrum )
For some reason I was never cursed, or realized he even have curse.
And then i realized I have to destroy that crystal, i spent a good 10 minutes wacking his life away then I noticed it went back up wa.............

I hate it when you are running around with over 50'000 souls and then get 1 shotted by a stupid attack that the boss never does. Queelag's AOE attacks is from Satan himself.

Im doing new game plus now, fighting bosses with only weapon + shield no armor!
for rings i use the extra souls earned. So im constantly carrying around almost 100k in souls.
And then I get 1 shotted by a normal hallow with spear -.-
i boosted my hp.... now to 6 bars xD my stats are all over the place, I was hoping NG+ wiould allow me to restat.... NOPE
Now I have like.... 20stamina 26 endurance 30 str 24 dex 20 int 20 faith

Easily dodged; just stay toward her front. Run in, smack her a few times, run out. Even if she decides to do it, as long as you don't over fatigue yourself, you can quickly get out.
I've never feared Death or Dying. I've only feared never Trying.

Normally, that's what I do. I was just so excited that I got to her in under 20 minutes with only leveling up once, that I stopped paying attention for a second when she was almost dead. Then she blasted me with that. But, whatever. It was only 20 minutes, so I could easily do it again. I just haven't been able to bring myself to finish the game after I kill Ornstien and Smough.

Oh, I hate it when bosses do that
I honestly stopped at Fatty and Slim as well; my brother wanted to play through it, and after rolling up every character in the book to play with him.... I've just kind of lost interest at the moment. Really need to get back and try to kill him, though. Would you say that it's easier to kill Fatty, or Slim, first?
I've never feared Death or Dying. I've only feared never Trying.
Fatty is easier to beat after going supercharge mode.

Slim first then fatty. Also summon at least one other person; soloing it is perfectly fine, but if you haven't beaten them yet, I'd suggest summoning another person (or three) and then beat them. Unless you're playing with noobs, fatty and slim will die very quickly.
Honestly though, they're a really fun fight to solo, once you get past the frustrating parts. Fighting both of them at once solo is probably the best moment in PvE. You really feel like an incredible badass the first time you're able to handle both of them by yourself.

I'd forgotten how enjoyable PVP in this game can be, though I don't get invaded that often unless I just wait around in the Forest Guardian area. After being one-shotted (with 40 Vitality) after being parried with a +15 Great Club, I've set about levelling one up myself. It's damaging, but the lack of speed will take some getting used to.
Though I use heavy armour, I'm trying to keep my equipment weight low enough to be able to run around enemies quite quickly and go for critical hits, and I think I might try to practice parries a bit more. I can't believe I only started using the Hornet Ring when I was fighting Gwyn on the second playthrough...

Driven away from WH40K by rules bloat and the expense of keeping up, now interested in smaller model count games and anything with nifty mechanics.

virx67 wrote:So I've finally found a class that I might like, the sorcerer. What do you guys think is the best class setup for a caster?
Depends, first time going through?
Well, I've gotten the Lord Vessel on other playthorughs, but haven't beaten Dark Souls, if that's what you mean. But I've played through Demon Souls a few times as well as many startups for Dark souls, so I'm no stranger to the gameplay. I don't really know what's the best for a sorcerer, as I've only really experimented with pyromancers with big swords.

Assuming you want a build that's suitable for PvP...
SL 125:
40vit, 19attunement, 40end, 10str, 35dex, 44int, starting as a wanderer (you can start as a sorcerer, but you have 4 less resistance at SL 125. Not a big deal though, since resistance is a completely useless stat anyway)
Use a vanilla estoc+15 (main hand), sorcerer's catalyst (offhand) and a Caduceus kite shield or tower knight shield (offhand, they're pretty much the same). Your main spell is Crystal Magic Weapon, which combined with the estoc's fast pokes, is a great way to quickly deliver a lot of damage.
Aside from crystal magic weapons, there aren't really that many good magic spells for PvP. Crystal Homing Soul Mass can do a lot of damage, but it's very easy to dodge. Great for PvE though. Crystal Soul Spear is in a similar situation. If you don't plan on using Crystal Soul Spear, you only need 40 int, the remaining 4 points should be put into dex or vit.
Alternatively, you could build to use the Moonlight Greatsword
SL 122:
50vit, 19att, 40end, 16str, 10dex, 50int, starting as a pyromancer
Moonlight Greatsword would be the primary weapon of this build, obviously. Don't be fooled by its somewhat mediocre stats. The damage is all of a single type, which makes it harder to defend against (a weapon with a split damage type has each type defended against separately and subtractively, while Moonlight is only resisted once). Additionally, most people don't gear to heavily resist magic damage specifically, since it's not something that shows up incredibly often.
Offhand weaponry should be Logan's Catalyst and a Silver Knight Shield (if the Silver Knight Shield is too heavy, or you're having trouble obtaining one, a Balder shield is good too).
If you want to be a straight up caster for PvP... that's not really going to work. Sorcery spells are just way too easy to dodge and leave you wide open for counterattack. Additionally, characters who cast great magic barrier will shut you down completely (this also stuffs the moonlight build, but not the estoc build, since it has the capacity to fight without magic damage).
Pyromancy and Miracles fair a lot better for PvP. Pyromancy requires almost no stat investment to use effectively, and works wonderfully as a supporting weapon.
Miracles are simply fantastic for PvP as well. However, both are not entirely self sufficient, and you will have to fight up close.
LunaHound wrote:Whats the difference between the classes other than the starting stats and gears?
If you're not optimizing the character for PvP, nothing. If you are, you'll likely be aiming for SL 120-125, in which case every level counts.
