I say: give us the weekend, I still have what feels like a truckload to do...unrealistic to some that have seen my stuff, but there is such things like drying times that will eat me up......

Also...I have made it currently look like my palisade is dug into the ground, outside the ground will be partially grass and downtrodden earth...inside probably too eh?...

Well, you guys are fantastic. In light of that, I'm going to submit anyway, just to participate. Thanks again for doing this. The community is stronger when we can all show our work to each other and get feedback and reinforcement. So here goes:

While it's not totally in line with the competition, my rationale is that a squad of Eldar Rangers have been ordered to scout ahead for the advancing Craftworld forces. They've taken refuge in this wreck of an Imperial freighter where they're awaiting extraction/further orders.

Good luck everyone! Thanks for sharing your fantastic work.

I,for one, say the more the merrier with these things. Welcome aboard. I bolded the money quotes, BTW.

Hmm, an extension might allow me to get some interior work done, because right now I just ran out of time to build, and really need to paint what I have. And here would be the hab complex's final WIPs, needing a good paint job, some plants for the planters, and a 'dirty trick' we Infinity guys use to up the wow factor... But the extension is entirely up to you Camrkierhi.

My only question is about the amount and nature of the photos. How many and what sort of views?

Not where I should be

Looking amazing.

On the photo's as many as you can muster. Preferably all around and from above for each entry. And I would request that you try your utmost with the pics as it can make or break a piece.

Hints, well I am no expert, but would say, lighting and background. Daylight if possible is brilliant for your models, and if the subject is dark do not use a white or bright background. Try to make it compliment your colour scheme. I really hope I am not offending anyone, Not teaching you guys to suck eggs and all. Just passing on the bits I have picked up.

As too extension, Please let me know by PM or post here your thoughts, If there are no objections we will extend it a little. I would say full credit and kudos to those who are managing to complete in time, and it's your thoughts that really matter to this.

@Viktor: Sweet fort ! Looking great, really. The furniture came up really fine, too.

@mars2024: Welcome, and good looking as well

@Red Harvest: That scenery is amazing. Different - 40K wise, I mean -, awesome aesthetics. Waiting to see it painted.

As for the extension, please, do go along with it if it allows for more entries finished! "Just" two days are not much of a spread for the deadline, but an extra weekend can mean a lot in hobby-time, maybe even some of the lately discouraged entrants can be lured back thus!

(On another hand, daylight pics are almost only possible during weekends for some, so a short extension could probably help with that issue as well)

Your call, of course.

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far, away...

Hey all, great work going down here

As Cam said, with the slight extension to the deadline proposed, hopefully those of you struggling to finish will have some extra time now while those already finished will not begrudge some extra competition

Please do PM me your photo links to completed entries - can be either from Dakka's own gallery or hosted off site (e.g. Photobucket...). I'll then compile them all into a single post ready for Judgement Day

As for the pictures, I want to see multiple angles including all sides and aerial shots. I'd also like to see at least one scale shot with your miniature collection of choice (please let me know the scale if its non-GW). If relevant to your model, interior pics are also desirable.. To be honest, the more pictures the merrier really.

Note, I may PM you if your pics are blurry or too dark, please don't be offended by this, I just want everyone to have the best chance during judging...

for camo net, Have you got any light gauze bandage, use that with dilute pva glue to set it in shape and you should be good to go.

Or try the plastic mesh bags that you buy fruit like oranges and lemons in. You an then spray it with the camo pattern and/ or stick bits of foliage into it

Automatically Appended Next Post:
For metal sheets try the corrugate cardboard you sometimes get in boxes.

Well I am making it official, close date is Sunday night, 2nd March at midnight GMT., You need to have pictures taken and Ruglud PM'ed at that time.

The work I am seeing here makes me very nervous as a judge. Incredible pieces and so inspirational to all. Thank you all for your efforts.

Best of luck though to all the competitors.

I am going to throw my hat into the pile for this contest.

I am working on an Arbites Sector House. This is a small structure intended to be a staging point, safehouse and general lodging for an Arbites Patrol or Response Team. In-game, it is roughly the right size, shape and armament to be used as an Imperial Bastion fortification. Style-wise, it is meant to evoke a bit of a courthouse feel (with the large decorative columns in front), but with a nice hint of Grimdark menace as appropriate for the Adeptus Arbites. (Hence the Servo-Skull monitored video surveillance nodes on the top, and sentry guns on the walls and the "front porch".

I have a WIP thread currently in the Dakka P&M Blogs section. I will post a few pics here as well though.

Early WIP showing basic construction, mostly foamboard (with the paper peeled from one side), some wooden corner columns and detail pieces, plastic cake pillars, and a few bits and bobs from Cities of Death buildings and an Imperial Bastion.

Sentry gun made from a Heavy Bolter, Grey Knights Servo-Skull and old-style Hunter Killer pintle mounts.

Icons made from Imperial Eagles and a Dark Angels winged sword icon. The fists are sculpted from Procreate.

A black base coat has been applied to the whole piece. More painting will be done tonight, and I hope to finish by tomorrow.

I just found this thread today, too bad because this looks like fun. I hope you are going to follow this up with another round. I have participated in MiniWarGaming's group builds. They run their competition for only a month, very hard to complete something very cool in 4 weeks.

Would it be possible to get a stickied thread for the contest announcements? It could be for all the terrain and painting and converting contests. That way it would always be readily seen.

Not where I should be

I have no idea how, but it would be good.

Basically the winner of this comp, runs the next round. This is round 8. Always terrain, but different each time. So WP is right, they pretty much run back to back. There will be links here after the comp to the next one.

@ Tinker.......It's never too late. As it states in the rules, size does not matter. (that's what the wife tells me anyway!) so even though we have some of the most spectacular terrain I have ever seen being produced, WP piece is equally qualified and stands every chance of winning. So go for it! Just don't try building a cityscape.

I would love to pull something together, but I am already waist deep in the MWG Group Build for the month. After that I am defiantly down with this format on the next round, more time and more participants is very cool!

Besides, I like big terrain. I started on a piece that is 42" tall. Not the best idea since it remains unfinished.

Thanks for the kind words!

To those wondering if there is enough time left, by the time I complete my Arbites Sector House, I will have worked on it for less than a week. It is definitely an achievable feat!

Astra Militarum
Iron Warriors Army: Enyo Company
Enyo (Greek: Ενυώ, English translation: "warlike" in Greek mythology; Roman: Bellona), was an ancient goddess of war, acting as a counterpart and companion to the war god Ares. She is also identified as his sister, and daughter of Zeus and Hera in a role closely resembling that of Eris; with Homer in particular representing the two as the same goddess. As goddess of war, Enyo is responsible for orchestrating the destruction of cities
